I am not a die hard follower of Oyedepo, I am even more of Abioye than Oyedepo but I don't allow sentiment to cloud my judgement, what this men of God are doing to help people around them is even far more than what your government are doing but biblically it is not right for them to publicise it, so many don't know, the member that you said he was complaining about the church not doing anything for him, there are welfare packages that are given out every month to both members and non members, there are free buses made available every Sunday for commuters. There is a yearly scholarship program for church members children every year, there are accommodation packages that this ministry gives out to people but you won't hear them talk about it, but always ready to point out what they are doing that seems wrong to them, same was actually said about Jesus, so no surprises, what you should be after is calling people to Christ and not using a social platform to talk about people's ills thereby turning some people away from God. The one that turned to babalawo only said his own side but did you hear from the church before arriving at your conclusion, a pastor that was disciplined due to financial mismanagement too will come out to say he was maltreated. I have been with Abioye from Durumi and Goshen and have also followed Oyedepo from afar, I know what is going on about the leadership of the church, retirement from the church doesn't mean you can leave permanently, you can still be serving, there is need for other pastors to grow, Bishop Abioye is too big to remain under Bishop Oyedepo, this is a way of God calling him to his own ministry, and he is going to do perfectly well cos he is just God filled. You don't need to talk ill of His servants before you can bring people to God. As evil as Saul became, David still said I cannot do any Harm to God's anointed when the opportunity to kill Saul presented itself. Their judgement is only in the hand of God and not in the hand of Man, all they require is our prayers.

Bishop Abioye has always been genuine about the salvation of souls which are evident in his numerous sermons but the OP wants a narrative that people like you want to hear and will bring him traffic. That's why he is more devilish than Christlike. He is just using this platform to achieve his devilish mission. So saying because he is no longer under a man is the reason he is now preaching salvation is very wrong. Do your research and don't allow some devil feed you wrongly

The spiritual depth i spoke about with his teachings I heard so far, didn't have to do with his physical appearance, oratory skills, eloquence, verve or the tone of his voice or even how appealing his message was to me as many misinterpreted, but about how much his teachings aligned with that of Christ, because Christ teachings which is what He commanded His disciples to teach all men to keep before His departure from the earth (Matthew 28:20), ought to be the standard with which the teaching of any church leader or minister was measured, not what appeals to us or what we want to hear.

So that's what impressed me about David Abioye's teachings the few times I heard them not something else.

For instance this particular teaching is Christlike and the kind of teaching Christ would be teaching if He were Himself, however I have never heard Bishop Oyedepo teaching or expressing such a concern before, despite knowing him since the late 80's and early 90's when he was yet in Kaduna up til now.

I know that he is more obsessed with getting more church members into his church and building bigger church buildings than getting souls into the kingdom of God, as was the case with most prosperity preachers, as is clearly reflected in their teachings, hence even though the church now has become filled and brimming with members than it's ever been in it's history, it's also the church that's made sinners become most comfortable in their sins instead of coming to repentance since the church began.

This is a serious concern I have always had concerning today's church and have shared here and elsewhere times without number, but many spiritually blind Christians have taken that to be an attack on the church, so it's good to see Bishop David Abioye who they view as one of their own also expressing the same concerns about today's church.

It's baffling though that it took his retirement from Oyedepo's church for us to hear such a teaching from him, which makes it seem like a blessing in disguise but just wished it happened much sooner.
