The Emirate example does not hold. They are one people and culturally homogeneous. They are of same faith and hold similar traditional values. We are nothing like that.
We can either be an America or we be India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. We can't be India, Pakistan and Bangladesh in America. The final destination of regionalism in a heterogeneous setting, is independence. Let's go there! The bolded is the only concrete step that can make the various tribes in this country, reach their full potential. |

The British did us a country a very bad thing by handing over power to them. Point of correction, power was handed over to Alhaji Ahmadu Bello, (Northern Nigeria political leader), by Nnamdi Azikiwe, in 1959 and not the British as erroneously claimed in many quarters in Igboland. |
Politics › Re: Is Kwankwaso More Popular Than Shettima In The North? by johntolu: 4:43pm On Jul 01, 2025 |
Penguin2: Kwankwaso is more popular than Shettima by far!
And Kwankwaso’s state alone can almost cancel out what opposition candidate can muster in the entire Northeast (Shettima’s zone).
But the big question is, will Kano voters vote for a Tinubu/Kwankwaso ticket just because Kwankwaso defected to APC? Are Kano voters that daft? I guess not.
It’s like expecting Ndi Anambra or Southeast to vote for Tinubu because Peter Obi defected to APC. Because as popular as Peter Obi is, one wrong step will kill all of his popularity in the entire Southeast in 24hrs.
But maybe it’s not like that in Kano. Maybe Kano people are easily led by their noses and told where to thumbprint.
But all this simply betrays one thing - that Tinubu is scared to his pampers. While his supporters litter here saying things to excite themselves, Tinubu knows that the reality on ground says something different.
In 2027, those defecting to APC won’t attract much votes to Tinubu; especially in the Southsouth. You would be daft to think Tinubu will win Delta because the governor defected. Nnamdi Kanu will be granted state pardon before 2027 election to wither down Obi's political influence in the South East. Nnamdi Kanu will be assigned same role Ikemba Nnewi was assigned against Nnamdi Azikiwe, in 2003 Presidential election. |

DeepSight: So long as Peter runs separately for President, BAT is guaranteed to win the election.
If Peter doesn't understand that, then he doesn't understand anything.
If Peter runs separately for President, just know that he has gifted the victory to BAT. Don't blame INEC, don't blame rigging, don't blame anyone or anything else other than Peter in that scenario.
Even the blind can tell that Peter running separately is the key to BAT winning. I wholeheartedly support Peter Obi for the extraordinary courage and political sagacity he displayed when Atiku and PDP snubbed him, in 2023. I think he should be commended for his courage and steadfastness. The funfare and fairytale of 2023 is gone by and we now have a strategist, in Abuja, who has an enormous resources to wad off any opposition to his ambition of having another 4 years as Aso Rock LandLord. It is only 'stupid pride', on the part of Peter Obi, that will give Tinubu another 4 years in Aso Rock. Peter Obi has a better pathway to the Presidecy in 2031, if he contests on a joint ticket with Atiku, in 2027. |

DeLaRue: How on earth did that statement correlate with tribalism.
The poster actually made a credible point - to some extent.
Another point is that under Mr Jonathan, Nigeria earned so much money from crude oil and that kept the naira strong to some extent. That in turn meant the price of imported goods were cheaper.
But, the economy started going badly towards that last year of Mr Jonathan, after most of the money had been stolen or shared by Mr Jonathan's PDP people.
Infact Nigerians were left in shock when about 9 moths to the 2015 election Mrs Okonjo-Iweala announced that the federal government had no money to pay salaries because all the huge crude oil monies had disappeared. For the first time, the Federal government had to borrow to pay salaries.
When Mr Buhari took over from Mr Jonathan, his government confirmed that they met virtually no money. Nigeria has not balanced since that time.
So, tgere is no doubt that many of Nigeria's problems today started under and was caused by Mr Jonathan's government.
Remember Mrs Diezani Madueke, who was alleged to have made off with over $2 billion dollars? And several other PDP politicians who stole huge amounts and fled the country?
Of course, you will conveniently not remember. |

Obi was a genius when it comes to saving funds for the state as a governor but he was bereft of ideas when it comes to setting up infrastructure in the state, with state funds stashed away, in banks' vaults. Obi decided to save the funds for Obiano, who he handpicked, because of his uncanny ability and capacity for infrastructural development. |

Kudos should be given to the 'Mad-Man', Peter Obi admitted he always consult when faced with critical and important state matters while in government. It was the annonymous 'Mad-Man' that sold the idea of saving funds for Anambra state, in Fidelity Bank, to Peter Obi. His mentally deranged friend advised him to deposit the funds with Fidelity Bank and start trading with the funds instead of ouright looting of the funds. The 'Mad-Man's advice to Obi, was actually a 'win-win' situation for 'Ndi Anambra' and Peter Obi. |

DomPerignon: They made their reasons abundantly clear from the beginning on why they wanted out of Nigeria and it was down to the overbearing arrogance and domineering ibo majority that had cornered everything to themselves both resources wise and job opportunities.
Moving forward to post independence Nigeria , the so-called minorities began a renewed aggitarion to leave the old Eastern Nigeria citing marginalization, oppression and suppression by the IBO majority.
The minority people of eastern Nigeria were inspired by the peaceful seccesion of Midwest out of the old Western region that did not see any opposition from the majority Yoruba.
In Enugu, the situation was the opposite with the IBO super majority doing every dirty trick to stop any motion by representatives of the minorities to call for a referendum.
Frustrated at Enugu, the minorities took their plight to the Federal Parliament and had secured the support of Northern, Western and Midwestern Parliamentarians to grant a referendum for tthe minority people of Eastern Nigeria for the creation of the Calabar-Ogoja-Rivers region.
This was in late 1965 and the matter was to be presented oficially in Parliament after the Christmas break.
The IBO coup of Jan 15, 1966 was to prevent the Federal House from returning back from Christmas break to address the issue of COR region which was the first thing on the docket.
Your greed and foolishness is why everyone hated to be lumped with you and as soon as the British left, everyone wanted nothing to do with you. Your write-up is highly informative and commendable. I will appreciate if you can present any historical evidence to back up your claim that one of the aims of the 1966 coup was to stop the process of creating a different region from Eastern region, by the House of Representatives. Thanks. |

In Africa, President Trump and all other great nations, should come and fully ally with the great igbo nation, for four years or more. Afterall, is it not better to be partners with trump than any useless Nigerian. Give the igbo nation massive mean toys, let the islamics agents from both genocide weapons try the igbos, and see if heaven will not fall on them in the worst way. Kpata kpata, igbos fight for another 4 to 50 years, but earn their respect by the genociders. Afterall, those wicked devils have bondaged the great igbo nation since 1914, even before that. Igbos remember, these evil people were the ones that sold igbos enmass during arab and European slave days. To the point that igbos are estranged to themselves today. Example, the ikwerre and igbos outside Nigeria estrangement, didn't begin today. Igbos should earn their respect back from Nigeria (made up of two regions). The suffering and suppression of Christians in Nigeria is too much. Enough is enough. President Trump, Israel, Finland, and any willing great, come and help the igbos. The igbos will forever be grateful. They igbos are crying SOS. The igbos have been kidnapped by Nigeria, which is only two regions (north and sw). Come and save the igbos.
You will not regret a friend like the great igbo tribe. @Viodemus, Can you explain what happened to the friendship forged between 'The Great Igbo tribe' and the Hausa-Fulanis between 1959 and 1966, in Nigeria? Don't you think some Hausa-Fulani elements might want to recount the killings of The Sardauna, Balewa and their Brothers in the Nigeria military by soldiers of 'The Great igbo tribe', to President Trump, PM of Israel, President of Finland and President or PM of any other powerful country willing to forge a friendship with 'The Great igbo tribe'? |

The function of the court is to interprete laws.
Both the state and federal House of assemblies make laws. In theory, no. Constitutionally, the only role of the Supreme Court is to interpret law, not make it. In practice, as someone said, they kind of do. Also, Congress could either modify or pass a law that contradicts/supersedes the Supreme Court decision, but only under some circumstances. The recent Supreme Court judgment on the financial autonomy of Local governments, in Nigeria, automatically becomes a law, irrespective of the provisions of the 1998 Constitution, unless the National Assembly reverses the decision by passing a new bill into Law.
