ModCaller:There is no sentiment, in business, Bros. You either pay your dues or you are out of business. This clampdown, has nothing to do with politics as wrongly insinuated by many uninformed or bigoted elements. Read below the reason(s) for the clampdown, provided by NBC; In May 2022, the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) published in the National Dailies, the list of licensees that are indebted to the Commission, and granted them two weeks to renew their licenses and pay their debts or consider their licenses revoked, frequencies withdrawn and the withdrawn frequencies reassigned to others who are ready to abide by the necessary requirements. Three months after the publication, some licensees are yet to pay their outstanding debts, in contravention of the National Broadcasting Commission Act CAP N11, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004, particularly section 10(a) of the third schedule of the Act. In view of this development, the continued operation of the debtor-stations is illegal and constitutes a threat to national security. Therefore, after due consideration, the NBC hereby announces the revocation of the licenses of the under-listed stations and gives them 24 hours to shut down their operations. Sixfiguresmart:I totally agree with you, that Nigeria, as presently constituded, is beyond redemption. A 'thousand Atikus' and a 'million Tinubus can not fix the rot and decadence in the country. Your advice @ the bolded, is also not workable because some of the states are glorified 'area development council' that cannot survive without monthly allocation from Abuja. Regionalism built along the current 6 geo-political zones, is the way to go, for any meaningful development, in Nigeria. Any PDP cum APC arrangement currently being championed by political gladiators, in the two parties, is an exercise in futility and it will still lead to more woes and hopelessness, for an average Nigerian. Remember to bookmark this comment for reference during the 2027 and 2031 elections God sparing our lives. |
CSTRR:@CSTRR What in your opinion, informed Azikiwe's decision against having a succession clause, in the Macpherson constitution of 1951? Azikiwe was born in the North and he should have an idea about the mentality of an average Northerner when it comes to power, domination and religion. I am even more surprised he accepted to serve in a coalition government with Northerners as Ceremonial President. https://thenewsnigeria.com.ng/2017/06/25/my-opposition-to-secession-zik/#.Xy9j7NbRuxk.gmail |
NuclearWinter:@NuclearWinter I am not aware OBJ ever made a proposal of 25% derivatives, to all producing states, during his Presidency. Kindly provide any fact to back up your claims. Thanks. |
NuclearWinter:@NuclearWinter What in your honest opinion, is the way forward for us, as Nigerians, to have a working country/Nation of our dreams? Kindly respond. |
AntiBMC:We actually surrendered our sovereignty, as Nation state, to the Hausa-Fulanis, partly because of 'divide and rule', tactics of Hausa-Fulanis, but mainly because of our selfishness and outright stupidity. |
Mazisimonekpa:'No referendum, No election', might actually be the best way to go, if we want our children to have a country they could be proud of. Kanu's & Ekpa's viewpoints and 'modus operandi', might not have been the best, in terms of strategy and applicationof 'common sense', but their agitation and struggle, is by far justifiable than what Boko Haram elements, kidnappers and bandits, are currently doing in Northern Nigeria and other parts of Nigeria. The irony of it all, is that Buhari's government is treating the 'madness', up North, with kid gloves, while using 'Python dance' and brutal force on Kanu's agitation, in Eastern Nigeria. |
Felimax:Hi, Everyone, what is needed, in Nigeria, to solve our myriads of problems, is SEPARATION and not unity. Nigeria was not designed to work, from inception, by our colonial masters, the British. It was actually designed as a vassal state to be headed by ultra conservative elements like, Ahmadu Bellos, Tafawa Balewas, Muhammadu Ribadus and Zanar Dipcharimas of this world. The British virtually put everything in place, for Northerners, to dominate the country at inception and perpetually, before the misadventure of the military officers, that orchestrated the January 1966, coup. A 'thousand of Atikus' and 'millions of Tinubus' can not, in any way, give us the Nigeria of our dreams because of the faulty design of the country, from inception. The country, will more likely, be worst off, by 2027 and 2031 when there will likely be another round of elections, to elect new leaders. Obasanjo Presidency tried everything within its powers, to unify the country and laid a solid foundation for economic development and sustainability but that was the period the Northern oligarchy, came up with Sharia laws, in Northern Nigeria and the seed of Boko Haram was planted and nurtured. Muhammadu Buhari Presidency has been the direct opposite of Obasanjo's legacy in government and Buhari's government has actually made it crystal clear, that it is imperative we go our different ways, NOW! I must admit I am naive on how best to handle the breakup, but I think it will be easier using the political zones, we have in place, as a 'test run', for the breakup. Let me say this, on a parting note, as it is now, in 2022, it will likely get worse & worst, in 2027 & 2031, if we still remain as one country, |
LiveWithIt:'Gud of Nebuchadnezzer', will see the okada driver, driving the 'LP' bike, through his sojourn in the shadow of death, Amen.

Basiljoe:A state you erroneously labeled 'Capital of terrorism', has thousands of southerners employed in its civil service and private sector despite the security challenges in the state. https://dailypost.ng/2020/02/08/borno-zulum-gives-igbo-woman-teacher-of-31-years-triple-promotion-video/ |
ImperialYoruba:Hope there will not be a change of chorus to 'Biafra or death', after February, 2023, by the 'Ibodient zombies'. ![]() |
Kokoebapluse:Emilokan 1 of Yorubaland! A ng le bo lehin, o ng le ara iwaju. |
seunmsg:All IPOB members, are now 'obedient', they will resume their IPOB activities after elections, in February, 2023. ![]() |
Corto:I entirely agree with you. Political leadership positions in Nigeria, is occupied by rouges and 'pen-robbers. The only option out of this quagmire, is either sir Lankan or Malaysian/Singaporean route. Any other route, is a 'cul de sac' and that is why we have been stagnant as a Nation, since 1966 without any positive results or sustainable development. |
CommonSense1967:Politics is local, egbon. His 'Igbo bloders' will definitely vote for him massively, in Ala Igbo, same way, Tinubu will get sympathy votes in Yorubaland. Atiku will be 'playing his home matches' in the Northeast, with the exception of Borno and Yobe states. The battleline will be in the Northwest and Northcentral but Obi will loose all his away matches woefully, in the Northwest with the possible exception of probably, Kaduna state. I will advice Obi to play defensively throughout, in all his 'away games', in Jigawa, Kano, Katsina, Birni Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara states so as to reduce the 'scoreline'. Any other 'game plan or tactics', will lead to an embarrassing scoreline that might revive biafraordeath' cries, once again. ![]() |
Corto:OBJ has a different perception of Atiku's public service record during the 8 years of Atiku as Vpee, to OBJ. |
CommonSense1967:The only state in the South East, that Obi might not be able to win, is Ebonyi state. |
Fahdiga:Only evil men and pro establishment individuals and government loyalists, remained mute and reticent during the evil and suppressive regime of Sanni Abacha and by extension, IBB regime. |
mixta140:We either go Sri Lankan or Malaysian/Singaporean way or we remain stagnant as a Nation. All other 'arrangement' is gonna be the same 'paddypaddy' cosmetics reforms we have been experimenting with, since 1966 and it will take us nowhere. |
madridguy:Bookmark this comment for future refrence; Nigeria will remain in a quagmire, perpetually until we go 'Sri Lankan' or Malaysian/Singaporean way. All these rogues and vagabonds, in position of authority, are only interested in looting and sharing our national assets and resources, among themselves and their cronies. They are never interested in our pains and sufferings. We all witnessed and experienced their indifference and indignation during the pains and sufferings we all went through during the Covid-19 crises. #theydonotcareaboutus |
confluence:The current 'forced' unitary system of government, in Nigeria, will continue to be a major drawback against any major development in the country. We have tried every form of government, in Nigeria and it was only Regionalism, started after 'self rule', in 1955 and after independence, in 1960, that worked. The experiment was truncated by Nzeogwu and his gangs under the pretext of corruption by the civilian government. The 'hijack' of power, led to the introduction of unitary form of government by General Ironsi, which from all indications, is the bane of our current underdevelopment because the regions were well managed and making progress with the practice of Regionalism, during self rule and after independence. We have also had different military dictatorships and a diarchy system of government, under IBB, which also failed. We experimented Presidential system of government in the 2nd Republic before it was truncated by General Muhammadu Buhari, in a military coup. It will be naive to assume that our political actors will make any effort to correct the 'malaise' of unitary form of government because they are major beneficiaries of the system. There is really no hope in sight, for any meaningful development in the country, with the current 'forced' unitary form of government we are practising. The Nation will likely be in a 'fumbling and wobbling' mode until it finally disintegrates, at a time, in the future. Boko-Haram, Banditry, Biafra agitation, kidnapping and general unrest in the country, have given pointers to that fact. |

oyeb15:Your post just confirmed that 'nobody holy pass', among Nigerian politicians. What Governor Peter Obi actually did was to engage in a frivolous saving scheme of government funds with Fidelity Bank where he had vested and or, controlling interest. With that 'masterstroke' of his, he will be absolved of any accusation of outright theft or misappropriation of public funds. He could justify the investment with Fidelity Bank with the interest accrued on the principal instead of outright theft or misappropriation by some of his ilks in government, in Nigeria. I think the guy is a decent Nigerian politician with far more scruples than an average Nigerian politician. |

I disagree with you that no Igboman stand with them. I know of a Human right lawyer who is from SE that is as prominent as Keyamo and falana during the fight. Gani Fawehimin off course was their general at the time. I just don't remember his name. Realist12:I think Aribisala made valid points in his critique of infrastructural developments in Lagos. |
aribisala0:Funny you, Aribisala, with your 'bi eru ba pe nile', interjection. You seems to have forgotten one of our Father's proverbs, that says; 'Bi ewe ba pe lara ose, o ma ng di ose ni'. |
PassingShot:Professor Babagana is a perfect fit for the post. |

The truth is the people who wail about the religion the most are the poor. Orji a southern christian campaign for another muslim notherner for president. Akpabio stepped down for Tinubu a muslim.
