Politics / Re: Northern Elders Reject Relocation Of CBN ‘Key Departments’ To Lagos by joinnow: 10:46am On Jan 19
chymer:
The Northern Elders Forum (NEF) has voiced its strong opposition to the reported intentions of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to move major departments from its Abuja headquarters to its former base in Lagos.

The NEF expressed its concerns, citing fears that such a move could potentially widen the economic gap between Northern and Southern Nigeria.

Abdul-Azeez Suleiman, the director of publicity and advocacy for NEF, issued a statement highlighting the critical nature of the departments in question, which include Banking Supervision (DBS), Other Financial Institutions Supervision (OFISD), Consumer Protection Department (CPD), Payment System Management Department (PSMD), and Financial Policy Regulations Department (FPRD).

Suleiman argued that relocating these vital components to Lagos would not only fortify the already dominant economic position of Lagos but also diminish the significance of Abuja.
While acknowledging the CBN's aim to enhance efficiency and effectiveness, NEF expressed apprehension about the potential adverse impacts of relocating these essential departments on both the institution and the nation.

Suleiman outlined several potential consequences, emphasizing the financial burden and potential brain drain that the move could trigger.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: How Do I Post This Transactions In The Journal Guys?? by joinnow: 3:56pm On Jan 17
Seknat:
In a real estate firm as the Accountant in charge of posting transactions;

When you sell house on behalf of the house owner say N250m and your own company's commission is 10% wich is N25m and the buyer request for invoice immediately you’ve agreed on the price and payment is done by piecemeal and the agreement has been signed that the first instalment payment to be done 1-week after invoicing.
What will be the accounting entry during the invoicing and going forward during the installmental payments?

Notes: the property does not belong to the real estate company o. They only sell on behalf of the owner and their own commission is 10% of the total sales of the N250m.

Gurus in the house, what will be accounting entry for these transactions now and going forward

During Invoicing:

Debit Accounts Receivable (Buyer) - N225m (N250m - N25m commission)
Credit Sales Revenue - N250m
Credit Commission Revenue - N25m
After First Instalment Payment (assuming N50m):

Debit Cash - N50m
Credit Accounts Receivable (Buyer) - N50m
Repeat the same entry for each subsequent instalment, adjusting the amounts accordingly until the full payment is received. This way, you recognize revenue as payments are made.

Note: These entries assume accrual accounting.

Politics / Re: RE: Rivers Crisis: Gov. Fubara Has Already Won The War, Why Fighting On? by joinnow: 4:16am On Jan 12
sirpharrell:
The crisis in Rivers State came to the public burner when the House of Assembly attempted to impeach the Governor of the state, Sim Fubara.
However, keen observers know that the surprising frosty relationship between the Gover and his godfather, former Governor Nyesom Wike predated the infamous impeachment notice.
The Assembly chambers was burnt in a futile attempt to prevent the Assembly from sitting.
One thing led to the other and President Tinubu eventually intervened to broker a ceasefire.

That is where Fubara won the war.
The intervention of the President has ensured that he would no longer be impeached and it is most likely that he would spend his constitutional four years tenure as Governor.
The whole war was about the seat of the Governor and from all indications, he won't be removed any longer.
Without the intervention of the President, knowledgeable people in the politics of the state know that Wike would have impeached the Governor. Constitutionally, he has all the arsenals to achieve it.

On top of keeping his seat, the crisis has afforded Fubara the opportunity of untangling himself from the choking clutches of his godfather.
There are stories of the almost inhuman conditions he was made to operate as Governor.
Stories of how Wike remotely controls everything in the Government House, even to the point of determining who should and not visit the Governor, abound to those who have their ears to the ground.
Most despicable were stories of how he was being disrespected by his own appointees.
Clearly, that can not be the case anymore especially as he is no longer on talking terms with his godfather.
Fubara is now finally in charge of his government.

Anyone in Fubara's shoes should have seen these as victory and cease to fight.
He should have stopped his dispute with the Assembly where he has only 4 out of 31 members.
I thought he would be more interested in getting the Assembly to reverse the suspension of his 4 supporters so that they can resume to sit with their colleagues.
He needs those his 4 supporters in the House rather than out of it. At least, they can be his eyes and ears in the House.
There is no need in continuing a losing battle in the Assembly when he has already won the war.

But Fubara is not being strategic in managing the victory.
On the surface, it looks like he is being reconciliatory but that is far from the truth in reality.
He is the one now taking battles to the other side.
He should have avoided being spurred on to fight on and go for the jugular of Wike.
These later day supporters are not leading him on because they support him. In fact, most of them did not support him during the elections.
He is their darling today because they see him as a tool through which they can destroy his godfather.
Some are seeing this as an opportunity to get into the government and cash out.
Some have tried desperately to make it look like an ethnic war between the Ijaws and the Ikwerres. They know their motives.

Fubara should know better.
He should know the motives of these emergency supporters leading him to continue battling when he had already won the war.
He should play the right politics now that will bring the crisis to a manageable level so that governance does not continue to suffer.
He has won the war for the seat of Governor and liberated himself from the clutches of his godfather.
But listening to war mongers and urging him to go for the kill might put his victories in jeopardy.
In politics, one must learn to choose his battles wisely.

https://www.nairaland.com/7938508/rivers-crisis-gov-fubara-already

NOTE:
I did this piece on the 12th of December before Governor Fubara demolished the House of Assembly complex that eventually led to the humiliating terms of settlement he signed in Abuja. The war had long been won by Fubara but he and his supporters failed to recognise it and kept on fighting instead of consolidating on the victory. What was the point of demolishing the Assembly complex? How exactly did that demolition help the Governor?

For those who thought otherwise and were urging him to continue fighting when he had already won the war, what has the Governor gained between December 12th and now? Politics is more of brains than brawn.
What of the 15 January judgement cool

Valoromega:
We are currently expecting our first child , she should give birth within a this month.

She has requested money for baby things and I have given her over 400k but she hasn’t both the basic things she needs. She usually go with her mom to the market to get the things but they haven’t even both the things the baby will need in the hospital.
They went and bought baby wardrobe even though we already had baby wardrobe that was given to us on our wedding , she also both baby duvet without buying bed , the clothes she bought was for a month old baby , she didn’t even buy the first wear the baby would use , so far I haven’t even seen anything tangible she has bought with 400k plus I’ve given her, she hasn’t even bought the things she needs after delivery .

I don’t know if it’s her mom that’s telling her to buy those things, the mom doesn’t even care where the money comes from , she just demands that we buy this and that .

I was thinking the money I gave her would be enough to buy the most basic things she and the baby needs , now she’s demanding more
Tell the hospital to email or Whatsapp you the list for baby delivery. Do online market research. Then her the estimated amount along side the list.
They want to exploit you bro.
Like mother like daughter.
Beside after this you go get experience.

All these people telling them to move to CMS.I know you people have not being to CMS before to know that CMS is like city center mainly business district where I feel your aunt and her husband won't be able to pay for the accommodation which is hardly available.
Best bet is to find accommodation in any outskirts of CMS.
Is there no ferry from Ikorodu to CMS. If there is let your aunt go for switching class and she will over fear of water and let her but her personal life jacket she will be using daily when crossing from Ikorodu to CMS and back.
No hold up with ferry possible less that 30min

Hi guys!

I hope this my post gets to the FP, so I can get insights from a wider audience; even I know some might not make sense, but one thing I've learnt from the short time I joined this platform, is that - sense dey inside nonsense.

Pardon me, my write fit dey a bit lengthy.

I currently work with a multi-national startup coy. My net pay is a bit above 400k naira (this's at the moment), I've worked for about 2 years. I'm married with two kids and expecting the third.

Now my dilemma is that, I've not been able to save up funds, I feel like my living condition doesn't reflect what I earn. Shingbai like this, I no get for account. The last I could remember, I go deep hand for forex, e nearly give me hypertension (I lost about 2m). I still dey pay debt wey I incur as a result.

Now where I need assistance is, looking at the amount I'm earning, how do I spend? Please for those that will be kind enough to give suggestions, let it practically explained, as in help me break am down to the amount wey I suppose spend, how I suppose spend am, and wetin I suppose save.

I believe say many family people dey here wey get better experiences.

Thanks 🙏.
Budget formula to use
50/30/20
50% basic necessities rent,food,cloth, transportation
30% fun and want like vacation etc
20% saving and investment

Or
70/10/10/10
70% basic necessities rent food cloth transportation
10% wants and fun
10% investment and saving
10% tithe or charity

Or
80/10/10
80% basic necessities
10% wants and funs
10% Saving and investment.

Note if your annual house rent is bigger than 30% of your annual salary better lookout for another house to rent that is within the range of 30% of your annual salary.
Eg if your annual rent is bigger than 1.4m move out.
Hope this helps
