BetterHeadline:
-An Islamic Iranian group has put up advertisements for would-be suicide bombers

-The group has asked people to register for 'martyrdom' in Mashhad, Iran

-The posters seek individuals to join a 'special battalion of martyr seekers'

A hard-line Iranian group has been actively recruiting potential suicide bombers for operations in Israel, images seen by MailOnline reveal.

The group responsible for this recruitment drive, Hezbollah, different from the Lebanese militant group with the same name, has initiated a campaign in the southeastern Iranian city of Mashhad, a significant place in Shia Islam.

I give my wife #500 everyday to cook for the house and yet she complains, it's really annoying.

Do you know that the #500 is even too much because there's everything a woman need to cook in bulk in the house. Meat, crayfish, Maggi, salt, seasonings.....

I mean everything. All she buys is things we can't buy in bulk which is tomatoes and pepper. Please guys what's your take?

Here in the north all these perishables are too cheap, she just steps out of the house and buy them from women selling just in front of our house.

Before some people start saying I'm stingy, you must also know that she doesn't lack anything. I give her pocket money and also buys her anything she needs as far as i can afford.
Are you okay
Let start from Tomato
Do you know that four medium size tomato is 500

Politics / Re: Why Naira Is In Free Fall – Olusegun Aganga by joinnow: 11:42am On Oct 20, 2023
treesun:
A former Minister of Finance, Olusegun Aganga, has explained that the naira would continue to be weak if the country remains an import-dependent country.

Aganga speaking on Thursday at the 3rd Adeola Odutola lecture, during the 51st Annual General Meeting of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria on Thurday said Nigeria must produce for local consumption and more importantly for export, for the naira to be strong.

The PUNCH reports that the local currency fell from about 450/dollar to an average of 760/dollar following the exchange reforms of President Bola Tinubu.

The local currency plunged to 1045/dollar on Thursday at the parallel market.

But Aganga speaking on the free fall naira said, “What is the wisdom in spending billions defending the naira when it continues to fall instead of investing in genuine manufacturers and exporters of high-value products that would earn Nigeria foreign income and more.”

The former Minister charged the government to declare the industrial sector a national priority sector and back it with plans, policies, and money.

“Unlike the trillions spent on subsidies, bailouts, the Agric Anchor Borrowers Programme, the refineries, I can assure you that every naira, no matter how large, that is well spent on the strategic industrial sectors can be easily recovered and will deliver tremendous benefits to the economy and the nation,” he said.

If you grew up as a Nigerian kid in the 80s and 90s, you can surely relate to this. Fondest memories.

Please share your 80s and 90s Christmas experiences as a kid.

Few days preceding Christmas, we used to shoot toy guns with pipes gotten from old abandoned refrigerators. This was before knockouts and bangers were introduced. We would add the head of a matchstick and fire with a loud sound. Some kids used to dig the ground to make a particular spoon shape and pour hot led gotten from condemned battery to make a loud sounding device called 'Agadagbo'. Old Bendel kids can relate.

jackaustin631:
So, my father bought a tent to try camping despite always saying how he would never get one, and found camping pointless. However, he wants to try it, and we're all going camping soon for a night or two to try it out. If we like it, it will become a more regular thing. I've googled tips, though they all say the same things.

Does anyone have any tips on how to not make it a disaster, and just general advice? We know virtually nothing about it, and I know that there are many camping/backpacking veterans here. I really enjoy camping, as I've done it before, but I know very little, and want to learn as much as possible, so it won't fail and we can do it more frequently.

If you remember Chike and the river and eze goes to school . Macmillan books. M&B . I need help with the title of a book.

Had to do with a bully/truant with some friends
They attended boarding school
They were also punished by cutting grass in school.
One day the main instigator was sent home. He instead impersonates an inspector and sleeps in the house of the local chief.
He impregnates the daughter of the local chief and runs back to school .

If you know the title please respond.
These are both well-known works of Nigerian literature written by Chinua Achebe:

"Chike and the River" (also known as "Chike and the River: A Tale of Niger"wink is a novel written by Chinua Achebe. It was first published in 1966 and tells the story of a young Nigerian boy named Chike and his adventures along the Niger River.

"Eze Goes to School" is another novel by Chinua Achebe. It was first published in 1964 and follows the story of a man named Ezeulu, the chief priest of the god Ulu, and his experiences with colonial education in Nigeria.

Both of these books are significant works in African literature and provide insights into the cultural and social contexts of Nigeria during the colonial period.
Travel / Re: Why Do They Spray Water On Int'l Flight On Arrival? by joinnow: 6:47pm On Oct 05, 2023
Orubebe01:
Who knows why?
Spraying water on an international flight after arrival is a tradition known as a water salute or water cannon salute. It is a ceremonial gesture performed by airport fire trucks or rescue vehicles. Here are some reasons why it's done:

Tradition and Celebration: Water salutes are often performed to mark a special occasion or celebration. This can include inaugural flights, retirements of veteran pilots, or welcoming dignitaries and important passengers.

Honor and Respect: It's a way to show honor and respect to the airline, crew, or passengers on board. It's like a grand welcome or farewell gesture.

Symbolic Cleansing: In some cultures, the water salute is seen as a symbol of cleansing and purifying the aircraft, crew, and passengers, welcoming them to a new destination.

Photo Opportunity: Water salutes make for great photo opportunities and media coverage, which can be used for marketing and public relations purposes by airlines and airports.

Safety Demonstration: It can also serve as a demonstration of the airport's firefighting capabilities, as these vehicles are equipped with powerful water cannons. This can be reassuring for passengers and crew.

Overall, water salutes are a symbolic and celebratory tradition that adds a touch of ceremony to international flights and airport events.

MrUchenna1:
My 37-year-old son got married without my permission. How can I teach him a lesson?
teaching your son a lesson about marriage doesn't have to involve confrontation or resistance. Instead, opt for understanding, empathy, and open communication. By respecting his choices and offering your support, you can help him navigate the complexities of marriage while maintaining a healthy parent-child relationship. Remember, it's never too late to foster love, trust, and understanding within your family.
