I believe you're a smart guy, figuring the roads out is the easiest part,
coz you ve ur Google map, also you can always ask ur rider to please direct you, infact 90% of the rider directs ur without you even asking self.
Yesterday one was telling me to follow a rout I knw there was going to be too much traffic, I tried telling him there was traffic there buh because I know if I follow my own rout n we meet traffic there too he will grumble that he told me there was traffic here n his own rout there's no traffic, because of that I entered his own rout, trip of 30min we spent 3hrs on the road, he wanted to cry.

What you should worry about is those useless uniform men lasma police cbd frsc, like I said you're a smart guy you will figure it out like we all drivers on the road did, them no born us with the road.

WELL SAID BRO.

Buying a Nigerian used car with the intention of fixing it for use brings us back to the days of ogunvic41. If you are not a mechanic, please do not go this route, you will get frustrated mid way.

buy a Good car in good condition, avoid all those 500/600k cars, they are mostly crap.

My experience at an uber testing facility.

So I got this fresh vehicle for my personal movement, mileage 43,000miles, just had it serviced and checked for any present or future issues. It was Dull in the office so I decided to take vehicle to an uber testing facility nearby to have it checked so I can use vehicle at my free time on uber.

got there and there where 3cars waiting, I sat in my vehicle as I was moved around from time to time to create space for vehicles waiting.

when it was my turn the testing guy shouted, out come down nah!

I carry my file jeje came down and went to meet him, next was where your papers! I opened the file and asked him which paper he would require?

He said go inside go write your name first.

So I went into the lube bay, wrote my name on a small book with vehicle info and signed.

Next he said give me key!

I gave him, and he drove off like a bat out of he'll, I could here my baby redlining cry cry(manual transmission) as he left 2mins later he drove in like a danfo driver straight into the lube bay where I was sitting redlined my engine again and turned it off.

Next he went under the car and told one of the workers to bring a hexagonal 10mm spanner for him, he loosened a bolt on the gear box and came out with it saying, Oga as I de come, I de hear one noise from the gear, nah him I say make check the gear, see am no oil inside.

I smiled and told him it is a manual transmission, if he wants to gauge it properly he should drain the oil so we know how much oil was inside, but since there is no leak, I would not be topping the oil by 1 drop since vehicle is just 42,000 miles.

The guy now said e mean say you don fail the testing be dat, I said no problem, please couple my car so I can leave.

They coupled it and before I left I told him...... Today is the last day you will test a vehicle for uber.

As I was driving out, one of the staff ran after my vehicle and said Oga Oga wait wait please come back. I did my small shakara and he asked what the problem was, I told him what transpired and he said Oga no be so, please come back he will do it for you no problem.

The speed at which the test went this time was lightening speed.....

Took pictures, gave me the phone to write out my info and sign, then said Oga see o, I don pass you, I de submit am... grin

Before I got back to my workshop the report was already relaxing in my inbox.

End of story cool
Wow Mr Gazzuzz I salute you for your calm demeanor and maturity coupled with your intelligent observations and expertise in handling the situation.More grease to your effort in putting this experience out in the open for forum members to take note and learn.
Furthermore, what I am typing in essence that;judging from Mr Gazzuzz experience, the moral of the story is an intuitive and informative about car status to required standards and knowing the right approach to deal with such unprofessional behavioural practice.

2007 accord is very very ok no know issues. just ensure when changing linkages, shafts etc in front ensure you change complete and buy original parts not brandnew Chinese knockoff.

The 08 is an improvement on the accord generation against its predecessors
Thanks so much for the advice, very helpful. My Uncle is importing the 07 accord from US.

Foreign used. Wouldn't trust that M272 in the hands of the average Nigerian mechanic. Save yourself future stress. Ensure you have the service records/carfax of the car.

I'm curious, though. Why didn't you go for an Elantra or TL?

Well, the 07 will be more reliable than the 08. Ball joint issues are probably the exception. 08 is a first year model and I think the i4 had issues with burning oil.

Why not a 2009?

My knowledge on the 08+ generation of Accords isn't the best.

I can only speak from experience... in terms of the accord 07 to me I was told it was not strong enough for uber type wrk ...but it is ok for personal usage ...so instead I got an 04 civic. Which is very rugged and easy to fix ...the civic is low compare to other cars, but I have no regrets at all ...as a matter of fact I plan to get a civic 05 down the line.... Since u are going to be driving the car urself for uber ,it should be fine... just make sure u use the right oil filter, and coolant ...all these things are very important.. It will reduce your time spend on nairaland looking for a diagnosis online... a lot of people that are seeking online diagnosis are doing so due to lack of proper maintenance of their car ...I just shake my head at times.. Take care of the car and in return it will take care of you..
On uber regeneration part about vehicles, I don't think much has changed... and also elantra is also a good car to look into ,I have few of them.. I have a new respect for elantra from the 07 to 10.. Good cars and rugged.. If they can survive the uber abuse, am sure they can survive personal usage ... and sorry for the late response, have been busy selling my USA Mobil 1 synthetic oil ... goodluck
@dru
Thanks so much for the detailed analysis and information, you and I thought alike on the issue about the very importance of car maintenance. However,it is my Uncle that is going to import the car from the US. for me to use on Uber/Taxify.

Hello all,
Please guys don't do business with this fraudster named FLEETDRIVE. Here are my reasons:
1. He "helped" us buy a Nigerian used Honda city for 810k and did some "repairs" for another 100k. He had sent the picture of the car earlier but we weren't ready then. When we were ready, he resent the same picture with a higher price and lied it wasn't the same car...unknown to him that we kept the pictures

2. This car was with him for close to 2 months before he got a driver and therefore it was just "parked" in his yard

3. When he finally got a driver, he started saying its 30k he agreed to pay after promising 32,500. We let that slide too. He NEVER even paid the 30k in full for once, it was always one story or the other. We got paid for just 3 weeks for a car bought since June

4. This guy changed the tyres of this car (on our cost o) and when we called him that we were coming to get the car from him, he REMOVED all the tyres and REPLACED with BAD TYRES. The whole car looked like scrap sef when we got it back from him

5. We gave the car to a dealer to help us sell and almost all the parts of this car is bad from the gear box to the engine and he told us the car isnt worth more than 450k, that's how much people are willing to pay for the crap he sold to us.

6. Ever since we collected the car, all efforts to reach him were futile. He never replied our messages nor took our calls.

7. His overall customer service is bad. His office is ar Iwaya, i agree i fell for a scam, i don't want anybody to fall for this same scam called FLEETDRIVE LIMITED.

Thank you.
You can PM me for proof to this my story.

Thank you so much for this information however, posterity will judge the so called FLEETDRIVE.It is well with you Bro.To be forewarned is to be forearmed as the saying goes

E-hailing isn't for the weak. My first week, my car got clamped at the airport and I had to pay 10k, same week at yaba, another 5k for illegal parking, went to some places at unfavourable time of the day. Got body aches, headaches, tiredness and also lost weight . I made 67k on my first week but I only worked for the rental and filling stations. I worked on uber only for my first week, I registered on taxify my second week, applied the lessons I learnt in the first week and my earnings boosted. I've been lucky with my riders as all of them have been cool with me although that didn't stop some from dashing me a couple of 1 and 2stars. The business is still profitable especially if you own the car but if you're on rental, be ready to work your ass out.

You are on point. However, did you register recently?

Soon, I myself will stop uber/Taxify .. Its now getting too boring and taking too long to get a request most times sorted in the car for hours.

Time is precious and I hate to waste that time. Looking for other things to do that will at the same time fetch me some money rather than sitting in a car for 15hours per to strike 7k net and most times less.

Go for forex training seminal then.

My brother, you can do it. Tell you what to do, enter Lagos, use your first week in Lagos to study the roads with the help of Google maps. Enter brt from oshodi to ajah, ikeja to yaba/ojuelegba, lekki to airport, study these routes. When you start work, always let your rider know you don't know road, tell them you're new in Lagos, there's no shame there, they will always direct you, some will frown and give you low ratings, just move on.

Some incidents are most likely to occur, latsma/police will collect from you, danfo/keke marwa will surely scratch your car, take it as a learning experience. After one month of constant driving, you'll have mastered a few major roads . You're lucky your brother is the one giving you the car, he will always understand.

I know some niggies that started like this and today they are pros. Experience is the best teacher. I strongly believe in the saying that what doesn't kill you, will always make you stronger. Just give it a try.[/quote

You are on point.
