ADC is nothing more than a loose alliance of sidelined power-seekers, disgruntled elements and habitual party-switchers, scrambling to revive expired ambitions without any clear ideology or workable plan for governing a complex country like Nigeria. It feels less like a serious political project and more like a last gasp before they slip into irrelevance.

The usual wailers have once again hijacked the conversation, turning it into yet another outlet to vent their frustrations and blow things out of proportion. They’ve latched onto a fresh angle, even though the issue at hand, illegal immigration, is something the UK has been addressing through deportations for a very long time.

An association of serial party hoppers, politically deficient, disgruntled, and out-of-favour politicians, now masquerading as champions of democracy. They’re putting on a performance, pandering to the public in a bid to mislead the gullible and claw their way back to power to enjoy its spoils. Their supporters are busy repackaging non-performers as credible alternatives and elevating mediocrity as leadership. It’s nothing more than a political wild goose chase.

The issue, therefore, is not necessarily the absence of laws or regulations. Nigeria already has constitutional provisions and an Electoral Act to guide the process. What is lacking is a political culture that accepts the outcome of democratic competition.

In any election, one candidate must win and others must lose. Until politicians learn to accept defeat with maturity and congratulate the winner, Nigeria will continue to witness repeated disputes and unnecessary political tension after elections.
