Some deluded folks who know next to nothing about governance, economics, or politics naively believe that simply voting for their self-appointed messiah will magically transform Nigeria into Dubai. They seem to think that once their messiah enters Aso Rock, he will wave a magic wand and solve the country's problems overnight, without the difficult decisions, fundamental structural reforms, sound economic policies, and institutional changes required to build a prosperous nation. Ironically, this is the same magic he could not perform in a relatively small state like Anambra during his eight years in office.

This is the height of political naivety, mistaking wishful thinking for economic reality and messianic rhetoric for a credible development strategy. Their level of delusion, ignorance, and unrealistic expectations is simply staggering.

This is an idealistic and unrealistic proposal. Nigeria has moved beyond subsidising petroleum products. With several private refineries coming on stream, including the operational Dangote Refinery, how exactly does the government intend to subsidise privately refined petroleum products?

The proposal is neither practical nor sustainable. Atiku is either pandering to the electorate ahead of the election or appealing to the gallery, because he knows very well that bringing back fuel subsidy is not a realistic option.

It is becoming increasingly clear that Atiku has either lost touch with economic reality or is simply being deceitful and desperate for political relevance. Anything to the contrary is nothing but self-deception.
