Any reason for japaul's rapid descent?
I don't think there is any reason. Investors are positioning in fundamentally sounds stocks to benefit the dividend declared. Once that is achieved we would come back to penny stocks for possible capital appreciation. This is my layman opinion

The dividend season is my best time in my investment journey. A lot of dividend had been announced, though payment dates for most is still up by a month or so. I await the announcement of the following companies to announce their dividend for my joy to be complete.
1. Fidelity Bank
2. UBA
3. Accesscorp
4. Stanbic IBTC
5. Aradel
6. Presco

The other remaining stocks in my portfolio may or may not pay dividend because they don't have past records. I am also in some for capital appreciation. It will be a welcome development if any of the 6 companies i mentioned drop the audited result today.

I wish us all a fruitful trading today.

I suppose Ecobank that didn't raise capital should pay about 1.5x to 2x as more of its previous payout than the rest.
Using it's non-increase in OS as a point of contact.
Well, i wouldn't know about that. I am not a fan of Ecobank and really don't understand their operations as they are not always paying their shareholders dividend. I only brought the argument about who responded to me that UBA now has more outstanding number of shares. My point was that UBA was not the only bank that increased their outstanding number of shares.
InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by jonnysessy(m): 3:11pm On Apr 07
Dupeodus:
You have not considered that UBA has a higher number of shares now. Paying the same per unit as last year is actually an increase in dividend payout. This is not to say that they cannot or won't do it.
After recapitalization, almost all banks outstanding number of shares increased including GTCO and Zenith bank, except the ones that did not raised addition capital like Ecobank. So, this is no excuse, if GTCO and Zenith bank can increase their payout ratio with increased number of outstanding shares, i see nothing wrong with UBA doing the same. Afterall, the banks i mentioned all belonged to the FUGAZ group.

u are ambitious, N5.00k bawo, be happy if u see 3 naira
I do not see the ambitiousness in my expectations. Is UBA moving forward or backward if they pay N3.00k final dividend. Need i remind you that in 2024 financial year UBA paid N2.00k interim dividend and they cap it up with N3.00k final dividend. I am only being conservative and modest here with the expectation of N5.00k final dividend. Afterall, they only paid 0.25k interim dividend. Hence, if they therefore pay N5.00k final dividend they have not done anything spectacular, they only repeated the feat performed last year. Is GTCO and Zenith Bank that declared improved dividend having two heads. cool

with the way uba shares are being sold massively, people have seen the results and its surely not good
I am suspecting the same here too. Don't forget that African Prudential, UCAP, Transcorp, Transcorp Power and Transcorp Hotel didn't do anything fantastic in dividend this year. Also, don't forget Elumelu own all this companies mentioned. Anything less than N5.00k final dividend, i will sell-off. But, i will be patient to wait for the declaration first.

Proposed a final dividend of N8.75 which in addition to the N1.25 per share as interim dividend amounts to N10.00 per share
This is massive. It may have not surpassed GTCO. But, it is really a welcome development. ❤️I love Zenith Bank. cool

Please explain I don't understand, can't you see your holding in your stockbroking app ?
I can always see my holding on my trading app. But, when bonus shares is given or i participate in a public offering of a share i already owned or that i don't have. The holding is not automatically credited in my trading account. But, it will be there in the CSCS statement. So, when i request that my stockbroker send me my current CSCS statement, i will see it there. Then, subsequently i will demand my stockbroker update my portfolio. This is another reason why we normally keep our ears close to the ground, so that if anyone you know have been credited, you quickly start working on yours. A typical example is this tranches Oando is crediting their shareholders. I hope i have been able to do justice to your question.

Another beautiful reason why it will be nice you are logged on with CSCS portal is in case your Stockbroker wants to play hanky panky on your holdings. You already have everything at your finger tips directly. You can always visit the portal to verify your holding at any point in time.

Yes, the activation will require you to contact your stockbroker after you have registered with your CHN on the CSCS portal. The activation normally happens within 24 hours.
If this activation is still tied to your Stockbroker it makes no sense then. After all, one had supplied all the necessary data like CSCS no and CHN to CSCS. It is only in Nigeria that to access little things takes you through bureaucratic bottleneck ( filling all manner of forms etc). I was initially thinking of subscribing to the CSCS portal. But, anytime I want to know my holdings I simply write my Stockbroker to provide it for me. They owe me that as a duty ( with minimal charges).

What a man can do, a woman can even do better. I give it up for the MD CEO Adaora of Zenith Bank. I await the final dividend of nothing less than N8.75k to bring the total dividend to N10.00k for 2025 financial year.

I still regret a beautiful move that I almost made sometime in July when I had mapped out strategy to convert all my other Banking stocks to Zenith Bank ( selling around N64) for a better consolidation. Then, i had no more money to bring to the stock market. I was only trying to rebalance my portfolio. But, be that as it may. I will enjoy my holding with Zenith Bank and continue to top it up for better yearly dividend. grin grin

DIV #1.25
If this is the best stunt WEMA Bank can pull, why is it then trading above my ACCESSBANK ? No matter the London properties acquired by the Late Wigwe i don't see ACCESSBANK paying any dividend less than N2.00k. People just sit in the comfort of their bedroom and start hyping a stock. Thanks for sharing this update. Out of the 22 companies listed. I am involved in 8. Though, i didn't see NIDF ( maybe, it was not considered as a company grin)

We are patiently waiting for the money spinner (Banking stocks). At least one should annouce what it will pay. When that is done it may make or mar the sector for capital appreciation. Banks are used to bandwagon effect.

I was thinking i could used these dividend for Easther celebration. But, most can't come before then. But, knowing that money will be paid after is enough consolation ( I might even take an I - owe - you) 😀😅

Mankind2024:
When the Dangote Petroleum Refinery Became a Cornerstone
In my childhood, while studying the New Testament, I vividly remember Jesus referencing Psalm 118:22: “The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.” This metaphor appears in several passages, including Matthew 21:42, Mark 12:10, Luke 20:17, Acts 4:11, and 1 Peter 2:7.
In 2025, I wrote a short piece titled “The Rich Also Cry,” reflecting on the tears shed by Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, as he battled severe challenges in getting crude oil for his newly built refinery. The difficulties stemmed partly from legacy issues, including forward sales of Nigerian crude under previous administrations that limited immediate domestic supply. Undeterred, Dangote sourced crude from international markets, including the United States, and successfully ramped up operations.
The Dangote Petroleum Refinery in Lagos, with a capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, is the largest single-train refinery in the world. Yet, as it approached full production in 2025 and reached peak capacity in early 2026, entrenched interests in Nigeria’s oil sector—often referred to locally as “cabals”—resisted domestic refining. Many preferred the status quo of importing refined petroleum products, which had long generated significant profits for importers.
Dangote repeatedly urged the government to phase out fuel import licences, arguing that the refinery could not only meet Nigeria’s entire domestic demand but also produce surplus for export. Critics accused him of seeking a monopoly. Meanwhile, tensions escalated when labour unions, including the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), the Trade Union Congress (TUC), and the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), clashed with the refinery over issues such as unionisation rights, working conditions, and distribution logistics. Dangote described some of these actions as sabotage. The Federal Government of Nigeria eventually intervened to mediate and restore stability.
No one could have fully anticipated the dramatic turn of events in the Middle East. Ongoing conflicts, including disruptions linked to tensions involving Iran in 2026, have damaged oil facilities, restricted shipping routes like the Strait of Hormuz, and caused sharp spikes in global crude prices and refined product shortages. Suddenly, the very marketers and importers who once shunned Nigerian-refined fuel from the Dangote Refinery found themselves competing with buyers from across Africa.
Indeed, the stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.
Just as many initially rejected the message of Jesus, who became the cornerstone of Christian faith and salvation, the Dangote Refinery—once fiercely opposed and undermined—is now emerging as a vital national and regional asset. Vice President Kashim Shettima has described it as a strategic national asset that is helping transform Nigeria from a net importer into a potential net exporter of refined fuel.
As of early 2026, the refinery is operating at full capacity and has begun exporting significant volumes of petroleum products. In recent weeks alone, it shipped 12 cargoes totalling 456,000 tonnes of refined fuel to countries including Côte d’Ivoire, Cameroon, Tanzania, Ghana, and Togo. Additional African nations, such as South Africa, Ghana, and Kenya, have approached the refinery seeking long-term supply deals amid global supply uncertainties.
Today, the Dangote Refinery supplies not only Nigeria but also other African countries, enhancing regional energy security at a time of international volatility. It stands as a powerful symbol of resilience, vision, and the triumph of domestic industry over entrenched opposition.
The journey has not been easy, but the refinery’s rise illustrates a timeless truth: what is dismissed today may well become the foundation tomorrow.
Hard work pays. Dedication to ones beliefs pays and this goes to show that when you take a bold step to invest in commodities that is needed, you have no cause for fear. This is also an eye- opener, i hear people say you start small. Please, if you have the resources nothing stops you from starting big in any project you embark on. It is actually riskier not to take risk. In everything you do think big. The reward you make when you you get it right is humongous, likewise the lose you make when you fail. But, you just have to be optimistic that you will succeed. cool
