In kenya rarely are military ever used in anything...and majority use to retire without ever firing their guns in battle. What Japan is going through now is something anticipated in demographics,it's not a strange phenomena- that's how a normal curve should be.

However,their high life expectancy and very low birth rates is actually their major pain now.I'm into the idea that the ideal life expectancy shouldn't cross the 80 mark or better still be not more than 75 years and the fertility rate should somehow equal the mortality rate.The government of Japan is under immense pressure to fund the pension of it's bigger old age populace and medical insurance among other benefits.The mitigation measure of raising the retirement age hasn't helped alot.

The questions are,what is the ideal population pyramid? What is the ideal level of development and yearly economic growth that a country should show. Are developed nations going to reach a 'development ceiling' that would be detrimental to the future growth of their populace. A normal curve would be in the shape of a letter 'n'. Maintaining development at your optimum levels( the highest point in a normal curve) as a country for as long as possible seems to be a feat hard to crack!

i get ur point, jonraid.... developed nations tend to have bigger debt but when a developing nation have over 60%debt to gdp ratio, it's catastrophic! Japan's debt is over 200% but they're d most advanced nation( in my opinion) their manufacturing sector is top-notch.

Secondly, debts are not measured by its amount (why are u kenyans like this) It's measured by percentage cos amounts(or figures) are not d same all over the world. I dont know SA debt nor ratio so i wont talk on that.

SA budget maybe $120b figuratively but its not what u think, if u check egypt's budget, u'll think Egypt is bugged. Economist use something called purchasing power parity to compare figures and not the monsense u n ur goons have been spewing. Mostly, a bigger GDP translates to bigger amounts of debts. One of the characteristics of developed nations is that they usually have higher amounts of debts. Few developed nations show the opposite of this.Very few!

As long as our debt to gdp ratio does not cross the red line,60%,.....Kenya should continue accumulating debt if necessary,this debt should only be meant for development.
A nation should be worried if it's raising Eurobonds to settle its recurrent expenditures!

With Nigeria having a 350b gdp,they should be borrowing more than what they are owed knowing that they can easily pay up because they have a higher gdp.

They know full well that they have a fake gdp. They can't borrow much because their treasury doesn't collect enough monies!

Their treasury's actual balances at the end of each revenue collection year are roughly the same size as Kenya's ones!
