Intresting seeing India growing by more than 7 % . India and Turkey will soon join the big 4/5 top economies as world beaters like the US come down to position three or four in some years to come. What Kenya should be focusing now is on wealth creation and industrilisation. We have invested alot in softer aspects like education and healthcare(a fact manifested by our high hdi ranking in the African region), we now need to concentrate in full throttle industrilisation drive for us to achieve our goal of becoming a proper industrilised economy by 2030. A one major characteristic of developed economies is that they usually have higher amounts of debts,as long as our debt to GDP ratio remains below the 60% threshold- we should not shy away from borrowing for development purposes. This however should not give room for reckless borrowing. The Special Economic Zones earmarked in some designated regions all over the country should give more impetus to our industrilisation agenda. There is much that Kenya can learn from India in sectors such as the automotive industry, agriculture, military and healthcare. Goel: Other Asian country that should red is Yemen. This list is bugged.
No, we both are perfect. Both overpopulation (becomes burden) and population decline hurts.
There are three kind of people: Kids, Adults and Aged. Only adults earn. Overpopulation causes increment in number of dependent kids. So, Africa is suffering.
Population decline causes more aged people and lack of manpower with increased spending on pensions. So, growth slows and economy even starts to decline. Example: China & Japan. Western manpower losses are being compensated by immigrants.
Countries in green are best. Red have population has burden and Blue are suffering manpower decline.
It is natural actually. We should not interfere with it.
For example, a European country Moldava is poorer than African countries but its socially developed like rest of Europe and its population is declining.
India and Kenya on other hand will grow very fast for next 30 years to become upper middle income countries and even developed countries by end of century. China successfully implemented a robust population control plan which has started to pull their growth back now and push them in middle income trap. India and Kenya tried but we both were not completely successful and we are going to have this advantage in future. |

Millions are starving to death every month? Really ? Calm down son,no need of throwing your toys out of the pram ! NigeriaIsDoomed: But millions are starving to death every month in your country. Whose citizens are dying every second due to poverty? Kenya. Whose citizens live on carcasses of animals just to survive extreme hunger? Kenya. Which country represents the face of poverty in the world? Kenya. Which country is the slum capital of the world? Kenya. The country whose citizens trade their daughters and wives just to escape hunger is? Kenya. Laziest citizens in the world are Kenyans. Truly, to state that you starving and dying folks are clowns is an understatement. Behind the mask of a clown lies the trail of tears! I wouldn't be surprised if the shit you are typing is inspired by hunger. Your country can only be better Nigeria in the dream, I bet u. In reality, Kenya is a no match to Nigeria, the Giant of Africa and most populous black country on earth. We will continue to prove that and make you envy us cuz we are more prosperous than you starving fools who trade your women as the last resort to survive starvation. Starving creatures who live in grandiose delusions. Kwuntinu! |

The Kenya Open golf challenge will be part of the European golf tour just like the likes of Dubai Desert classic and the rest.
Why should news of the European Tour grab your attention? For one, the calibre of players who will be coming to Kenya for this event will be at the very top of the global ladder. Members of the European Tour include the likes of Rory McIlroy, Ernie Els, Patrick Reed, Tommy Fleetwood, Aaron Rai, Louis Oosthuizen, Justin Thomas, Braden Grace, Henrik Stenson, Shubankar Sharma, Matt Wallace among others. And whilst not all the top players will choose to come and play in the Kenya Open, those who do come will be from the very top shelves of the golfing world. Secondly, the Kenya Open will be transmitted live around the globe to more than 490 million homes. The impact expected from this live transmission on Kenya’s brand image globally and more specifically on our golf tourism offering will be high. Later on the year, in July, the Karen Masters, which is now a full member of the Sunshine Tour, will be held, and again, this rapidly growing event will put Kenya back on the golfing map. By the way, and this is a story for another day, Kenya’s top golf resort, Vipingo Ridge will very shortly be staging a top-class invitation ladies event featuring some of the top names from around the world and who play on the very apex of the Ladies European Tour. For those doubting it, let me repeat that — in early February, the Baobab Course at Vipingo Ridge will host an Invitation ProAm event bringing together some of the world’s top lady golfers. If your wife, daughter, sister or mother plays golf, I suggest you call Vipingo Ridge right now and book a slot or prepare divorce papers — the choice is clearly yours. This ladies Invitation will be live across some channels globally and again this will turn the eyes of the golfing fraternity to Kenya increasing our brand value and hopefully driving golf tourism numbers. Wasn’t lying when I told you this would be a good year for golf was I?
This is a big win for 'Brand Kenya' our golf and tourism in general! |

I hope our fertility rates lowers a bit more. Economic and GDP growth should be in tandem with the population growth or better still surpass it. Kenya should still check on its growing population even though our fertility rates have lessen down through the years, we need a 100% family planning roll out. A high dependency ratio is one of the most profound hiccups facing developing nations. We should have more adults working in the economy than the number of children. People with an iota of brain or some education will get what I'm saying. A little bit of knowledge in demography will help someone understand the need of keeping population growth in check! rvp20183: Arguing with an idiot is very tiring. The structure of the population is important. You can be 100K - but if every one has 10 kids - no way youll be rich. China has on average 1-2 kids. The same with US. In fact I doubt there is rich country on this planet where people have more than 2 kids on average. The rest is mainly about geography, boundary and climate.
Show me a rich developed country where people have more than 2 kids. Start from Africa. Southern African countries and Northern countries have 1-2 children and are richer - whether it's 60M South Africa or 2M Namibia. The structure of the population is important. Not how big or small.
Total fertility in 2018. You can see KENYA stick out right there - because of our HEAVY INVESTMENT in family planning - from having highest fertility in 70s and 80s - to that - VERY IMPRESSIVE. Now watch us become a developed nation as you breed like Nigeria ratshttps://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/78/Fertility_rate_world_map_2.png |

You can't scare Nigerians by talking of rodents. It's a delicacy for them! rvp20183: Malls are signs of formal trade - which is sign of development - everywhere except nigeria that boast of the largest flea & farmers markets - where rodents and snails are sold.
Kenya is second to South Africa - with 30% of it's population - shopping in formally in malls & supermarkets - rather than corner shops.

Giant of Africa my foot! rvp20183: The 500B GDP giant gorilla highest ever was 1.6M TEUS in 2014 - and they are now doing anything 1.3-1.5M. In gross tonnage - they are doing I think around 60M tonnes from all their ports - Apapa, Tin can, Port Harcourt.
“The record year for containers in Nigeria was 2014, with throughput of 1.6 million TEUs. That has been the highest so far in the history of this country".
Like I alluded their economy is about 2.5 times kenya with about 1/3 of it oil-based. At best theirs is 200B economy.
South Africa with 320B economy - in Durban alone - process 2.5M TEUS. |

Increased expansion of Kenyan banks to the East African region is expected in the year which would possibly lead to increased performance, according to Oxford Business Group. At the start of 2018, nine Kenyan lenders operated a total of 306 subsidiaries in EAC up from 297 a year earlier. Equity Bank led in the region with 104 locations in five countries. Diamond Trust Bank (DTB) operated 70 branches in three countries, while KCB group had 60 branches in five member states. According to the report, this was pushed by Nairobi’s status as an advanced financial centre, helping some of larger banks establish a successful presence in regional markets. Uganda still remained the home of highest number of branches, accounting for 102 locations, followed by Tanzania (81) and Rwanda (55). “Of course the expansion trend will continue in 2019 due to interrogation for investment in the region,” Kenya Bankers Association chief executive Habil Olaka said. https://www.the-star.co.ke/news/2019/01/10/kenyan-banks-dominate-ea-regional-expansion-race-report_c1875227 |

The Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) last year outperformed most African markets in dollar returns despite the bear run, helped by the Kenya shilling’s gain on the dollar versus the depreciation seen on most regional currencies. The year was bruising for African stock markets, which recorded negative returns on the back of general foreign investor sell-offs as capital flowed back to the safe-haven western markets especially the US. Market data compiled by African Alliance shows the NSE FTSE 15 Index — which tracks the bourse’s 15 largest firms by market capitalisation and is mainly used by foreign investors — had a dollarised return of -13.5 per cent last year. It outperformed the bourses of Nigeria (-20.6 per cent), South Africa (25.5 per cent), Uganda (-17.2 per cent), Tanzania (-15.4 per cent) and Egypt (-14.2 per cent). https://www.businessdailyafrica.com/markets/capital/NSE-outshines-African-peers-despite-bear-run/4259442-4928114-5xiwy/index.html |

Brazil has lifted the 75-year ban on gambling opening the way for local betting firms to seek a piece of the market estimated to be worth Sh1.4 trillion. The Brazilian presidency has approved the sports betting law, allowing for establishment of regulations to guide gamming in the soccer mad nation. Local betting firms lead by SportPesa are showing interest in the market and will make a decision later whether to set shop in Brazil—which will allow for both online betting and land-based operations. Kenya’s passport is the eighth most powerful in Africa, according to a new research that shows the country has, however, slipped down three places compared to the previous years. The ranking by Henley & Partners, a citizenship and planning firm, takes into account how many countries can be visited without applying for a visa. Kenya citizens can travel to 71 countries without visas out of a possible 218, ranking behind Seychelles, South Africa, Mauritius, Botswana, Namibia, Lesotho and Swaziland Globally, Kenya was in position 72, which is an improvement from last year’s 73, in a ranking that placed Japan on the top, with the Japanese citizens able to travel to a record 190 countries without visas. “Kenya ranked 72nd in 2019 with 71 destination visa free access,” says the report that is produced in partnership with International Air Transport Association (IATA). https://www.businessdailyafrica.com/economy/Kenyan-passport-is-ranked-8th-most-powerful-in-Africa/3946234-4928252-view-asAMP-vfgmc0z/index.html |
