I'm just pointing out what was being said in the media. It's still remains allegations. He has done good, he's well learned (a Yale University graduate). I'm not taking anything away from him and I respect him. kikuyu1: Jonraid,go slow on corruption allegations. I know we're in Kenya but he's the laaassstt to be mentioned in anything shady and tbh we should be careful finger pointing blindly stampeding honest people into accusations of dirty deals. |

Most of your cars on the streets appear old. Tell me your current car year importation limit. By July, Kenyans shouldn't be importing cars of more than five years old. As of now the limit is eight years. forgiveness: We started with 10 years. |

Cheaper and cleaner power is what we need.I'm.not still decided if we need the 1000MW coal.power plant in Lamu. The thought of doing away with the project is still one I can't accept, we are staring to loose a 2 billion dollar investment that would bring immense benefits. On the other hand, we would be better off investing in much greener sources of power with such a 2 billion dollar price tag. Let's see how the government will decide on it. rvp20183: Clean Energy Kenya - Largest Wind power project in Africa inject 307MW: UPDATE: As at 8:23am this morning, LTWP injected 307MW of clean energy into Kenya's national grid. This is an incredible achievement to be celebrated by our team, our partners and the country as a whole. http://www.ltwp.co.ke/?fbclid=IwAR2UX9Hx-X0eFjIjtnsX4SlD75KbLdx3f3WnsFGKnENvARs7Uyyok3W-7uI |

I'm glad that your name is synonymous to Nigeria. Nigeria is truly doomed NigeriaIsDoomed: dying and starving kibera slum dweller, you know nothing about Nigeria. That is in Portharcourt, Nigeria does not have one city like Nairoslum. Lazy and backward folks who hardly travel out because of poverty. |

I understand the guy that he aforetime rejected a polish house somewhere in Muthaiga. Well, let me keep it to myself. His job description is one that I can't even imagine of.I have nothing but respect for him even though minor doubts would still be there. He was fairly good IMO rvp20183: He exposed the rot and they had no option but collapse. He has no whiff of corruption. He doesn't take salary and live in dormitory with other opus dei. You cannot be serious to question his integrity. |

Or it was just a typical cock and a bull story Sad if that is true darfay: You should be grateful to Nigerians and Tanzanians for giving you lazy asses a platform to discuss about your country |

What about the two collapsed banks under his watch? I still think he did a decent job though but not a wholly clean one. rvp2018: Why is leaving early.Njoroge is a gift to our banking sector. His opus dei background makes him incorruptible.Ouko is a accountant...you need an eminent economist for such a post. |

Well,I didn't think that much about Ouko being an accountant. I just chose him because he has been one of the most workaholic civil servants and the man has earned plaudits. I think Njoroge can replace Rotich incase of a cabinet reshuffle or go anywhere either in the public or private sector, he won't miss a job .Ouko too won't miss a job anywhere! Anyways, whoever comes in has to meet the total credentials as the CBK post is one that cannot be given to just anyone. It requires more than good papers to land it. Other important posts that would also need new persons include that one of Mwathethe and Boinet. We should easily find correct men for this two positions. kikuyu1: Exactly! An accountant is too one dimensional to handle governor issues-IIRC,a certain CBK department head,a Taita woman was actually being touted as CBK gov 12 years back! |

It's much worse being overcrowded inside a danfo! It's sad that the Nigerians are planning to do away with them. They looked perfect for Lagos TayserMahri: Perfect! Both countries actually need to go slow on the planned parenthood thing as they edge towards proper middle income countries. We can actually beat the middle income trap by letting lose on the planned parenthood completely. The millenials in both countries dont have that "fill the world" mentality. Most of them will end up with one or two kids anyway (except Somalis lol ) without the planned parenthood indoctrination. No hating on Somalis but dang!!
On a side note, how does it feel to be in a country with 1.2 billion humans !!? Just the feel of it. I usually find it astounding, even surreal, almost like talking of light years. If Indians and Chinese decide to jump at once i bet this planet would wobble by a few inches and we might address or even exacerbate global warming. |

The CBK governor has done a decent job. It pains me more to see Ouko the Auditor General leave his office as his expiry term sets in. I'd be more than happy if I see him being the next CBK governor. TayserMahri: Not a bad move except for the car dealers. We should actually aim for complete ban of used cars in a decade. It would also help reduce the mad traffic.
Btw, the Central Bank Governor Patrick Njoroge has been in the streets meeting SMEs this past week. The Nigerian CBN Governor would rather die than do the same. He is also the only one expected to leave office among the big three; Kenya, SA and Nigeria.

Chill out! Who started the discussion ? A Kenyan ? The answer is a definite NO. If you can't keep up with the debate, kindly unfollow or let Seun delete this thread! darfay: I don't own it I know... But why can't Kenya do anything. Tz has jamii forum the biggest in East Africa and where unproductive Kenyans cause havoc and you are here on Nairaland as well constituting a nuisance
You are always insulting Nigeria and Nigerians using a Nigerian platform can't you see how weak you are
Kenya is behind in technology, you even jamii forums to discuss about Kenya
Zero creativity
Zero ingenuity
You can't build shillingland or Kenyan version of jamii forums but your pride is something. You end of constituting a nuisance to Nigerians and Tanzanians.. Maybe you are waiting for Indians to build it for you. Goel can get to work while he is here Lazy Kenyans |

Professor David Ndii a Kenyan Economist was once an economic adviser to Paul Kagame.Ndii was one of the architects of the Rwanda you are seeing today. Kenyans have invested more in Rwanda as of now than even Tanzanians. Why should we even brag about all this? Kazikazi: Yes,Kigali is the cleanest in East Africa that is due to a Tanzanian who heads the ministry of infrastructure in Rwanda. |

Maybe they will also lower the taxes they impose on all imported cars so as to not affect the general sales. The government wouldn't shoot itself in the foot at this time that it's looking for taxes everywhere! We were doing 8 years and the businesses were good, 5 years wouldn't send us to the hells. Bus owners and truckers complained that the SGR would send them out of business, this turned out to a big lie.We have survived the rate cap among other worst things than this ! The second hand clothes ban is coming, watch this space! rvp20183: I think they don't have limit. 5yr old car would be expensive for most kenyans and I see gov bending backwards. How about they start by banning importation of used clothes. That is long overdue. I know we might lose AGOA. |

Thanks to Rotich, it means that I'll have to fork out more to buy my first car. A new Prado in the Kenyan market costs nothing less than 100,000 dollars whilst in the Australia and Japanese market, the same unit would range from 45-50k US dollars.
I'm not complaining, this is a good move nonetheless. It's about time our local automotive industries benefit from this policy. One of the intentions of such a directive is to make imports expensive in the eyes of our own locally made cars.
In June 2018, Industrialization Cabinet Secretary Adan Mohammed said that the government was set to block sale of vehicles aged above five years saying the move was aimed at boosting local car makers, calling for discussions with stakeholders.
Second car traders at the time criticized government’s proposals to impose new age limits on second hand vehicles imported into the country saying that lowering this period to five years will lead to a sharp drop in revenue and affect jobs.
Kenya, Algeria, Mozambique, Tunisia and Libya currently allow importation of used cars between age of six to eight while Countries such as Morrocco, Sudan and South Africa have a total ban of second-hand car imports.
The regulations by KeBS will be drafted by Tuesday, January 15 then after, the gazettement and enforcement later in June after budget reading.
According to Car Importers Association of Kenya (CIAK) chairman an average of over 24,123 used cars are imported into the country per month amounting to Sh13.5 billion(130.5 million US dollars) in revenue for the government. |

Less greenery is boring to the eyes. The pictures have no soul. Well, our real estate market has been the magnet for the super rich in the Sub Saharan Africa! That tells you something about it! rvp20183: Precisely. They really seem to hate any greenery except the occasional palm tree. |
