STRANDED MIKEL WON'T CARRY NIGERIA'S FLAG AT RIO OLYMPICS OPENING CEREMONY https://africanfootball.com/bp_images/2016/08/mikel_azubuike.jpg Team Nigeria captain and Chelsea star Mikel Obi will not be the one carrying the country’s flag at what is expected to be a very colourful opening ceremony of Rio Olympics tomorrow. Mikel and the football squad have been stranded at Atlanta, Georgia, since July 29 even though officials have now assured the team will finally fly out on chartered flight this afternoon. Logistic considerations are therefore expected to knockout the Super Eagles skipper from leading out Team Nigeria. Female table tennis player Funke Oshinaike is now expected to get the honour to lead the 85-man strong Nigerian at the opening ceremony. Tennis star Andy Murray will lead the British contingent, while multiple-Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps will spearhead the team from the United States of America. http://africanfootball.com/news/635568/Stranded-Mikel-wont-carry-Nigerias-flag-at-Rio-Olympics-opening-ceremony |
GrizzlyBear:The bolded describes me. I guess I am a 100% Nigerian Atheist. The person who said that to you betrayed his lack of understanding of how the world has evolved. Practically anyone from anywhere in Nigeria can get online and acquire the knowledge to start doubting organized religion and the concept of God. The world no longer comprise of the hamlet one lives in. |

About half of the 60-man Eaglets squad failed an age test last week with the first team most affected, but even at that the Eaglets controlled this test game from start to finish inside the mainbowl of the Abuja National Stadium Wednesday evening. The Eaglets welcome Niger on Saturday at the same venue in an U17 AFCON qualifier first leg with the return leg in Niamey. http://africanfootball.com/news/635501/Depleted-Eaglets-win-final-warm-up-4-0 |
Manu Garba Names Enterprising Midfieder Sani As U-17 Captain https://owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/image-55-287x350.jpg Coach Manu Garba has named burly midfielder Abduljabar Sani as captain of the new set of Nigeria U-17 team, Golden Eaglets, ahead of Saturday’s Africa U-17 qualifier against Niger Republic at the National Stadium, Abuja. Sani, sourced from Jos-based G-Smart Academy, has been one of the mainstays of the new-look Golden Eaglets. 2013 FIFA U17 World Cup-winning coach Garba told thenff.com that the choice of Sani as well as his assistants, was based on merit and sound behavioural conduct. “We have been watching all the players over time and there is no doubt that Abduljabar has been very outstanding in terms of performance and general attitude amongst his colleagues,” explained Garba. “He is level-headed and we have also seen in him leadership qualities, and also he mixes freely with other players.” To assist Sani are defender Igoh Ogbu and goalkeeper Adebayo Adeleke who Garba described as exemplary and outstanding in their respective positions on the field: “Igoh and Adebayo are very outstanding players with strong personalities; Igoh for instance is like my former captain, Musa Muhammed with his commitment to the game while Adebayo is one of the best goalkeepers I have seen at this level in all my life in youth football; myself and the technical team believe they would both complement Abduljabar.” Incidentally, Sani, who was captain of G-Smart Academy on his way to the national camp, said he was humbled by his choice as Golden Eaglets’ captain, saying he was ready for the demand of leading Nigeria to glory: “I’m very happy to be named the captain; Insha Allah (by the grace of Allah), we shall win our matches.” http://owngoalnigeria.com/2016/08/03/manu-garba-names-enterprising-midfieder-sani-as-u-17-captain/ |
MY FEAR OF HELL Almost every day a Christian will warn me that I will burn in hell if I do not repent and accept Jesus... well you know the rest. I feel like telling these sad people that I fear Christian hell as much as they fear Jahannam (Islamic hell), Hifhel (Norse hell) or as much as they fear being reincarnated as a slug. Why don't my Christian friends fear these horrible afterlives? Because they are ridiculous, that's why... |
EXCLUSIVE: STAGGERING 26 FAIL EAGLETS MRI TEST, FIRST-TEAM WIPED OUT https://africanfootball.com/bp_images/2016/08/Samm_27_May_2.jpg Nigeria will be hugely depleted for Saturday’s U17 AFCON qualifier at home against Niger after a staggering 26 players out of 60 failed the mandatory MRI screening conducted last week. A top official told only AfricanFootball.com that what is disturbing is not only the high number of those who failed the age test, but the quality of those who will not be eligible as the Eaglets starting XI have been completely wiped out with only two surviving players. “It is a disaster,” exclaimed one devastated official. “Virtually the first team the coaches have been working on have been disqualified. It’s a serious problem.” We have exclusively gathered that top NFF officials have now gone into panic mode with blames being traded over “this mass failure”. Several of the players were in tears and total shock when the final results came through this morning. The affected players have since quit the team’s training camp in Abuja for their various bases. Among those who flung the age test was a star striker, who came through the national U15 team and has been outstanding in training leading up to Saturday’s AFCON qualifier. Another promising player disqualified only recently forced his way into the starting XI of coach Manu Garba’s team after a late call-up. As first reported only by AfricanFootball.com, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) have moved swiftly to ensure a much more transparent management of this MRI test by deploying independent doctors to the various member-associations. In the case of Nigeria, an Egyptian doctor supervised the screening exercise last week. Nigeria have won the FIFA U17 World Cup a record five times – 1985, 1993, 2007, 2013 and 2015. http://africanfootball.com/news/635461/EXCLUSIVE-Staggering-26-fail-Eaglets-MRI-test-first-team-wiped-out |
SIASIA INSISTS TEAM STILL FIRED UP, OFF TO BRAZIL THIS AFTERNOON https://africanfootball.com/bp_images/2016/08/dream_team_departure.jpg Nigeria Olympic coach Samson Siasia has remained defiant his team will not be demoralised by the several cancellations of their departure from their training base in Atlanta, Georgia, with assurances the team will now fly out this afternoon. The team’s departure from their training base in Atlanta has been called off four times with the last cancellation being on Wednesday after the team were ordered back from the airport when it was discovered the chartered plane was too small. “The boys are determined (despite these setbacks). We went to Senegal to conquer Africa under very difficult circumstances,” maintained Siasia. Officials around the Nigeria Olympic team assured the 35-man squad will finally fly out of Atlanta for Brazil this afternoon to arrive at their venue for their opening match against Japan barely hours before the big kick-off. “Everything has been resolved after much networking and talking and the team will now fly out 8am Atlanta time, which is about 1pm Nigerian time,” said one of the officials. They will fly directly to Manaus on a chartered flight with flight time estimated at eight hours. African champions Nigeria begin their Rio Olympics campaign against Japan by 2am on Friday in Nigeria. http://africanfootball.com/news/635542/Siasia-insists-team-still-fired-up-off-to-Brazil-this-afternoon |
BREAKING: NIGERIA OLYMPIC TEAM ORDERED BACK TO HOTEL FROM ATLANTA AIRPORT https://africanfootball.com/bp_images/2016/08/madu.jpg Nigeria Olympic team remain stranded in Atlanta, Georgia, Wednesday night after the chartered flight to ferry them to Brazil for Rio 2016 was discovered to be too small to carry the entire squad. The team were at the airport alright and looked set to put behind them their long-drawn saga concerning their departure for the Olympics from their training base, only for them to eventually be told to head back to their hotel. Team officials have now said they will fly out Thursday morning, just as unconfirmed reports suggested that the Presidency may have stepped into this ever-unfolding drama to ensure the country are not walked over in their opening match early Friday morning by Japan. This is the fourth time the team have cancelled their departure from the USA. They now have less than 24 hours before the Japan game and they are yet to land at the match venue. http://africanfootball.com/news/635531/BREAKING-Nigeria-Olympic-team-ordered-back-to-hotel-from-Atlanta-airport |
NIGERIA OLYMPIC TEAM FINALLY FLY OUT 31 HOURS BEFORE OPENING MATCH https://africanfootball.com/bp_images/2016/08/nigeria_olympic_team.jpg Nigeria Olympic team have finally departed their training base in Atlanta, Georgia, for Brazil after three postponements over delayed issuance of flight tickets. “We are about the take-off now,” a player informed AfricanFootball.com shortly before they departed the US around 6pm Nigerian time. From their departure, they are just a mere 31 hours before their first match early Friday morning against Asian champions Japan and it is left to be seen whether they will not be adversely affected by jet lag. Kick-off of the Japan match is 2am on Friday Nigerian time. Nigeria will also face Sweden and Colombia at the Rio Olympics. http://africanfootball.com/news/635518/Nigeria-Olympic-team-finally-fly-out-31-hours-before-opening-match |
Rio 2016: Nigeria's Olympic footballers delayed by payment problem https://ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/EF44/production/_90625216_451005964.jpg Nigeria's Olympic football squad are stuck in Atlanta because of a problem with the payment for a flight to Rio. The delay means the men's team are expected to arrive in Brazil less than 36 hours before their opening match. "The money paid by the [sports] ministry for the charter flight did not hit airline's account on Tuesday so they refused to fly the team to Brazil," a source close to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) said. They play Japan at 0100 GMT on Friday. The problems seem to have happened due to the money having to go through different bank accounts and currency conversions. "It is a cumbersome exercise but they should have started the process much earlier, which NFF was pointing out. This issue has nothing to do with the NFF," the source explained to BBC Sport. He added that everyone in the NFF was "disturbed" by the situation because Nigeria's first game against Japan in Manaus is so soon. The BBC has spoken to several players in the party, who say they do not yet know when they will be travelling. One of the players explained: "We've been told to get ready to fly out in few hours but that's been the story since last week." Nigeria, who are in Group B of the Rio Games alongside Sweden, Colombia and Japan, boast a proud Olympic record. In 1996, they became the first African and non-European or South American team to win the gold medal. They also finished runners-up at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, where current under-23 coach Siasia also coached the 'Dream Team' in China. http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/36963812 |
While downsizing is done in almost all companies every where in the world, this sort of public bragging is uncalled for. It could lead to demotivation for the workers remaining. Nigeria and bad business practices sha! |
So I heard their Daddy G.O. has said they should not marry a girl who cannot pray for one hour. Nigerian Christians, please marry only girls who can pray for one hour just as Daddy G.O said. It is either the problem is too stubborn or your God is deaf. My grandfather didn't stay in the shrine for more than 5mins and he 'got' answers. |
