Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Mr Dele Alake, on Thursday inaugurated a 1,500-capacity stadium built by the owner of Olukismet FC, Olumide Adegboye, in Ikere Ekiti, Ekiti State. Alake said the first private stadium in the state would breed talents, encourage youths participation in football, foster youth empowerment and skill development, as well as reduce the level of unemployment in the state. The minister, who reiterated President Bola Tinubu administration’s commitment to sports development, said the Federal Government had put in place insightful policies in encouraging youths participation in sporting activities. He assured that government would support Olukismet’s initiatives to groom young people to channel their energy towards sporting activities as this would help check delinquent tendencies. https://punchng.com/alake-inaugurates-1500-capacity-ekiti-stadium/ |

.... One of the ambitious projects this year is the airport for which the government has given an August completion date. Is it feasible and how will it improve the economy of Ekiti? I am happy with the question. Life is a process and believe me, we are looking at Ekiti of tomorrow, not Ekiti of today. Some people are saying we don’t need airport in Ekiti but let me start answering them like this: ours is a cargo airport, 3.2 kilometers runway which is completed already. The stone base is ongoing, the asphalt is ongoing. Indeed, a massive construction is going on there. The foundation of the terminal building is set and I can tell you that the August date is sacrosanct. We are making that place an agricultural hub, a place of connectivity. Don’t forget that we have the iconic Afe Babalola University very close to the airport, and opposite it, we have the state’s knowledge zone, which we call knowledge city where we have industrial park. Going beyond that, that is where we have the last train bus stop that is coming soon, by the grace of God. We are looking at Ekiti as the agricultural hub of Nigeria. Look at the investment of the government in agriculture and that is why we are constructing the airport. We are looking at how we will move out all our agricultural produce because if we are investing heavily on agriculture, then you must look at how to move those goods out. That is the purpose. We want to feed the South-West and even the nation through our produce. We have an airport that will serve its benefits. It is called agro-allied airport. It is different from the conventional airport that we have in Akure. Through the airport, we are making Ekiti the agricultural hub in Nigeria.... https://tribuneonlineng.com/completion-of-airport-project-in-august-wiii-make-ekiti-agric-hub-in-s-west-adunmo-fayemis-s-a/ |

The government of Ekiti state says it has commenced naming and shaming of individuals involved in sexual crimes. According to Governor Kayode Fayemi, the state would regularly name and shame every person, who have been convicted for sexual crimes. Fayemi, in a tweet on his Twitter handle @kfayemi, began the naming with one Rev. Asateru Gabriel, who is serving a five-year year jail term for sexually abusing a seven-year-old girl. The image posted by the governor reads, “This person whose picture appears here is Rev. Asateru Gabriel, formerly of St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, Ifisin-Ekiti. “He is currently serving a five-year prison sentence at the Federal Prisons, Ado-Ekiti, for sexual abuse and exploitation of a seven-year-old girl. “He has been registered in the Ekiti State Ministry of Justice Sex Offenders... http://saharareporters.com/2019/08/16/ekiti-begins-naming-shaming-sexual-offenders

(1) Is e-mail indemnity in-place? Most 9jerians travel without signing the e-mail indemnity form, it gives banks comfort to treat your instructions via e-mail. If yes, just send a mail to the bank stating that you have signed the e-mail indemnity form before travelling. I assure u, the request will be treated. (2) If no, contact the bank's customer care via mail to send you the latest reactivation form, and ask for other details required to reactivate. Valid ID and notarized utility bill are required in some banks. |
Wema Bank Plc. has for the second year in a row made February its month of giving by donating funds for the treatment of children in emergency wards of three government-owned hospitals across the country. The initiative called Purple Nectar which started last year was designed to touch the lives of people in the communities where the bank operates. It involves each interested staff donating a day’s Salary for Love as a way of celebrating St. Valentine’s Day. “Every 14th of February, the world celebrates St. Valentine’s Day. Usually, couples go out on this day as a way of showing love to each other. But at Wema Bank, we decided that while it is fine for couples to show love to each other on this day, our focus as a bank should be on showing love to those who need it but are not getting it,” said Segun Oloketuyi, Managing Director/CEO, Wema Bank Plc., while presenting a cheque to one of the beneficiaries of the 2017 Purple Nectar Initiative at the Children Emergency Ward of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH). https://www.bellanaija.com/2017/03/in-line-with-their-purple-nectar-initiative-wema-bank-staff-donates-a-day-salary-to-critically-ill-children-in-state-owned-hospitals/ |
For salary earners, only bal as at time of death will be paid as directed by probate the remaining salary that has been paid into his account will be returned to his employer.. |
There are two things, I) did the customer put sometn down before his death(a will) II) did the customer die intestate? ( without leaving a will). If the customer died without leaving a will nd no one is aware of his account, then it will be difficult to trace the customer except someone get alert on his phone. Depending on the amount in the account, the customer described in no II will go to the probate dept in the court and get a letter of administration/attestation. ( letter of admin is given to those whose balance us higher dn 150k while any amt below this get letter of attestation. In some banks if the bal is 50k below, you just swear affidavit for the next of kin. But if the bal is higher, you will have to go through the process above. If the customer died leaving a will and chosed an executor, the executor will do the sharing......... Hope it helps. |

Private schools in Ekiti State on Monday began a three-day strike to protest against the imposition of N1,000 development levy per term on their pupils by Governor Ayodele Fayose. The State Government had announced N1, 000 per term as education development levy for public secondary school pupils while those in primary schools were to pay N500. Government, however, in a circular from the Ministry of Education, extended the development levy to private schools........ http://www.punchng.com/ekiti-private-schools-shut-to-resist-fayoses-policy/ |

Popular singer, Azadus, tells JAYNE AUGOYE why he wants to return to the music scene soon Ever wondered what popular singer, Olalekan Fadeyi, popularly known as Azadus, has been up to these past years? You need not worry any longer as the veteran singer who is well known for hit songs, such as ‘Madam’, ‘Sodiyen’ and ‘U is the one’, is planning to return to the music scene in a big way with a new album in 2014. In an exclusive chat with E-Punch, the former member of the Hip hop group, Def O Clan, explains that his perceived silence or absence was due to some challenges he encountered a few years ago. “My career suffered a brief setback after I survived an armed robbery attack in the Festac area of Lagos in 2008. I had two gunshot wounds: one in my wrist and another in my right thigh. Luckily, it didn’t affect my gait. That was the same year I left Kennis Music to do my thing. I was with the records label for about seven years and we still do have a cordial relationship,” he says. Azadus’ attempts at reviving his music career saw him drop an album entitled, ‘Undialed’, in 2010. Not impressed with the marketing strategy, the artiste simply recalled the work from public domain. “Ever since, I have been trying my best to see how well I can do my thing,” he says. But this has yet to truly pay off, as the artiste has had some challenges, most of which are peculiar to the Nigerian entertainment industry. “As you now know, it is not about how good your music is, but how well you can promote it. And we are talking about some good money here. Although you will eventually recoup your money, getting the initial capital is rather tough. “I don’t know how to do 419, or meet any ‘Baba’ somewhere. Right now, I am looking for people who will be interested in doing business with us and not just help us. But, we are searching for people. Something big is coming up and I don’t want to let the cat out of the bag yet,” he teases. Despite the fact that his recent singles, ‘Ile Aye’ featuring Vector and Sound Sultan, and ‘See Trouble’ which also features Sound Sultan and 2face Idibia, are getting rave reviews, the self-styled musician’s musician is not happy about the current situation in the Nigerian music scene. If there is one incident that readily brings tears to his eyes, it is the death of his close friend and colleague, Father U-Turn. Recalling the moments they spent together, he says, “Father U Turn was like a brother to me. In fact, a month before he passed on, we were together and he told me he was just recovering from an illness. “This was after I inquired about his health and the way he looked. “I felt sad when he finally died. This is bad for my country because we do not appreciate real service. Instead, we appreciate only buying and selling. Although this is an African problem, it is worse in Nigeria. “If Father U-Turn had lived the kind of life he wished for himself, he would not have died the way he did. There is also no reason why an OJB, for instance, should beg for money if the industry was the way it is actually meant to be.” Azadus says he is not prepared to give up music yet, though the industry has since grown in leaps and bounds since he recorded his last hit song. But armed with what he describes as his winning formula, it appears that he has a surprise for music fans. “There is an album in progress. I intend to drop a couple more videos and singles. I regularly stay up to beat and keep tabs and update my music with ongoing trends. For every ‘Kukere’, I try to do my own ‘Kukere’ type of music, ditto for ‘Atlanta’. “Unfortunately, I am yet to see anyone who has the courage to step into my shoes. I still do not know why that space is still very vacant. I think I am in a class of my own and nobody has been able to do my kind of music,” he says, laughing. Azadus thinks the Nigerian music industry is riddled with mediocrity. He says, “Our music industry is such, that when you have money, you sound like you are playing good music. The truth is that a lot of people are complaining. Yet this type of music continues to make waves everywhere. “Since mediocres have taken over the industry, there will be no such thing as good music to sell. Imagine someone repeating the same word over and over again in a song and he calls it music. Another guy plays the same kind of music, the whole world dances and jump into it saying it is content. “Endorsements are a wonderful development in the industry. We have all the money now, but we lack content. We are yet to see the content.” The singer waves away the rumour that he is broke. “This is plain idle talk. I do not understand why some people are saying that I am broke. How can you be broke and still take care of your family without begging anybody for assistance? A broke person is someone who will knock on your door and beg for money,” he says. The artiste, who has kept his marriage away from the prying eyes of the public for eight years, has just one word for his fans. “Be a little bit more patient, the ball will soon start rolling. Because I studied the rudiments of music, my own music will continue to be different from that of other musicians,” he pleads. www.punchng.com/entertainment/e-punch/most-nigerian-songs-lack-content-azadus/ |
