There is nothing new or surprising about the revelation  that Kaduna refinery runs on imported oil - that was how it was designed.

It is designed to process 'heavy crude' as against the 'light crude' produced in Nigeria - this heavy crude is typically a Urals blend from Russia or possibly Venezuelan crude. The reasons for using heavy crude is to produce products like asphalt and base oils for lubricants.

As for the conflicting reports between the minister and customs, it is not surprising - it just goes to prove that even the government is not clear on what is going on in the oil industry in Nigeria.

What is shocking however is that customs do not receive documentation on how much petrol gets imported - if we don't check at the point of importation, it is almost certain that any calculation of subsidy is going to be wrong.uh

Do you mean that Wema Bank is in the process of being acquired by Skye Bank? As far as we know, Wema Bank is still a stand-alone Regional Bank

@Blank I dont know the transaction you are talking about but adesteve has said it all wema bank is a stand alone regional bank! Though the MD was a formal ED of skye bank, that does not mean they are merging with skye! Wema bank has just gotten a new banking application, the latest version of finacle, no one in this country runs on that application. Imagine the profit they made last yr, dont worry, u can check it wen it's published. From the sales team to the MD, everyone knows his role and plays it effectively. This is no more wemo my dear, but WEMA. Let the purple line connect you to ur dreams. Let them give u that delightful and memorable service experience!

A bank does not have to be distressed for them to merge. That is just common sense. Instead, why don't u go and research and find out if it is true or not?

@JK, Access bank has merged with Intercontinental, FCMB and Finbank are in the process of merging, Ecobank bought Oceanic bank over. More mergers and acquisitions are on the way. ETB and Sterling bank have signed the MOU and will soon merge. Skye bank bought Wema bank though Wema will still operate under its name, Union bank is in merger tals with another bank (can't remember the bank). Zenith still dey.
