Politics / Coup, As 9 Edo Assembly Members Meet At Night To Elect Speaker by jossy4joseph(m): 2:31pm On Jun 18, 2019 |
Tony Osauzo, Benin In what can be described as a coup, nine members-elect of the Edo State House of Assembly met late Monday night and elected Frank Okiye and Yekini Idiaye as Speaker and Deputy Speaker respectively during the inauguration of the House presided over by the Clerk, Alhaji Audu Yahaya Omogbai. The inauguration which was said to have taken place between 9.45pm and10.15 pm amid tight security came few hours after 19 members-elect of the Assembly protested the non-proclamation of the Assembly by Governor Godwin Obaseki. It was learnt after a team of lawyers was assembled to study the implication of the planned inauguration, three lawmakers-elect from among the 19 that protested earlier in the day were invited for a meeting and in the process, their phones were allegedly taken from them before they were driven to the House of Assembly and sworn in by the clerk along with six other members-elect who were already at the House of Assembly. Soon after, the lawmakers adjourned sitting till July 17 before they were driven straight to meet the governor in his private residence. During the inauguration, 17 police patrol vehicles were parked in front of the House of Assembly complex while additional seven were strategically stationed on adjoining roads. No fewer than eight other security vehicles were also sighted around the residence of the governor. The lawmakers inaugurated were Nosa Okunbor, Henry Okuarobo, Uyi Ekhosuehi, Marcus Onobun and Ephraim Anehbosele. Source: sunnewsonline

This would be the worst outing for the Super Falcons in all the world cup they have ever participated in. I don't have faith in the coach and the team. How can a coach picked two goalkeepers from the same club? Dennerby or whatever he called himself is the worst Super Falcons coach ever. Nigerians don't expect any good outing from the team |
Politics / The People Singing Obaseki’s Praises Are Those Benefiting From Him – Edo APC by jossy4joseph(m): 6:16pm On Apr 29, 2019 |
BENIN CITY – AHEAD the 2020 governorship election in Edo State, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, Mahmud Mohammed has raised an alarm over alleged plans by the Edo State Government to clamp down on APC members opposed to the second term bid of governor Godwin Obaseki, warning that such undemocratic action will spell doom for the APC in the state. Mohammed who spoke to journalists in Benin City Monday, insisted that governor Obaseki does not deserve a second term due to his failure to deliver President Muhammadu Buhari in his ward and senatorial district adding that ” if not that the National Chairman of the APC was able to deliver all the Edo North votes to President Buhari, it would have been a disaster for the party in the state”. “And due to desperation they are planning to attack some APC leaders in the state who are opposed to the governor, but their desperation will be resisted by those who wants the survival of APC in the state” he said. According to him, “I have read so many articles both on social media and the print obviously emanating from Osadey Avenue, where they tried invain to argue why Obaseki deserved a second term. And unfortunately, they tend to blame other people rather than the Governor over the failure of the party in the National Assembly/Presidential election. “The truth is that the governor and his cabal from Lagos and Delta State have destroyed the APC in the state. The only people singing his praises are those benefiting from him but wish the party evil in 2020. “I read where they described the Governor as the most popular politician in Edo state which for me is very laughable. The question is, what made him popular now, is it for not delivering Edo South senate which Patrick Obahiagbon contested under the APC, which also is the senatorial district of the governor? “Is he popular because he could not deliver President Buhari in his ward, Local Government and senatorial district? Is he popular for marginalizing the entire political class, imprisoned them and empowered only his cronies from Lagos state and Delta state? “Is he popular for making Edo now the 2nd indebted state in Nigeria even when Oshiomhole told the world that he is an economist? “These same people due to their discriminatory politics they have introduced in Edo state tagged candidates like Obahiagbon and Agbonayinma “Iyamho candidates” due to their closeness to Oshiomhole. As a result the cable at Osadebey Avenue worked against these candidates to the benefit of the PDP. “I use this opportunity to urge the state Executive of the APC to set up a committee to try those who were involved in anti party activities during the election and the governor should be invited so we we will know why certain candidates lost in Edo South during the last elections” he stated. Travel / Canada Denies Begging Buhari For One Million Immigrants by jossy4joseph(m): 5:03pm On Apr 16, 2019 |
The High Commission of Canada to Nigeria Tuesday refuted the claims that the country’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau pleaded with President Muhammadu Buhari to allow one million Nigerians enter Canada under a new Employment and Migration Programme designed for immigrants. “If you’ve seen this link on your social media timeline, don’t fall for it. This story is not true,” The High Commission of Canada to Nigeria tweeted. Several news platforms had earlier on Tuesday reported that the Canadian PM was interested in having more Nigerians in its country. The false information was also shared on Twitter by Nigerian publisher Dele Momodu. The report added that the PM is requesting for more Nigerians after Nigeria immigrants have helped in Canada’s growth in all sectors of its economy. “We can’t undermine or overlook the contribution of immigrants in Canada’s development especially our brothers and sisters from Nigeria”, the platforms allegedly quoted the PM as saying. “The programme’s website will be launched next week and all available jobs will be listed. Currently, there are over 6 million vacancies and we are hoping that Buhari allows at least one million people from Nigeria”, another platform reportedly quoted the Canadian Labour Department, Shadrack Scott said. However, the High Commission of Canada to Nigeria in its refutation statements urges Nigerians to “shine your eyes well-well.” It noted that over 4,200 Nigerians were approved for permanent residency in Canada in 2017. That number, it said, is almost double the number from the year prior. Source: TheGuardian 1 Like 1 Share |

Politics / Buhari Spent Only N20m On Ear Treatment – Presidency by jossy4joseph(m): 6:24pm On Jan 27, 2019 |
Mallam Garba Shehu, the Spokesperson to President Muhammadu Buhari has said that the President spent about twenty million naira as medical expenses for his ear treatment. Shehu in a post on his Facebook page which he titled “In Response to Prof. Farooq Kperogi” Reads “The disclosure on Prof. Farooq Kperogi’s wall that President Muhammadu Buhari’s ear treatment in the United Kingdom cost a whopping six million pounds must have shocked many of the respected scholar’s followers. The story reads like an incredible tale by moonlight that belongs to a different era, which fortunately is now history. That’s when a fortunate lady saved USD15 million for medical treatment! But was it possible that the account of this balanced journalism teacher was hacked? I will give him the benefit of the doubt. Given the austere president we have, Muhammadu Buhari would not have approved this amount if he was shown a six million Pounds bill. I won’t be surprised if the President may have asked if the fat bill was for the purchase of a brand new pair of ears! I’m prepared to share documents with Farooq, one of the brightest ever produced from the Bayero University Kano (BUK) that the whole treatment, including a follow-up visit by a specialist to Nigeria didn’t cost 50,000 pounds. For the records, the administration advanced a higher sum, but the President’s doctor returned the balance to the treasury. Indeed, it’s a New Day, and President Buhari’s change mantra is real. Let no one confuse my fellow countrymen and women.” Source: Vanguardngr |
Politics / Buhari Reveals How APC Won Osun Governorship With ‘remote Control’ by jossy4joseph(m): 4:48pm On Jan 27, 2019 |

Buhari, who failed to provide details of what he meant by remote control, said: “I know how much trouble we had in the last election here. I know by remote control through so many sources how we managed to maintain the party (APC) in power in this state.” The President said this while interacting with the monarchs led by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan at the banquet hall of Osun State Government House. Buhari, received on arrival along with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo by Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola and his entourage, said the APC has recorded gains in the areas of infrastructural hence the need for the people to return the administration to consolidate on the achievement its has made in the last three years. He urged the traditional rulers to join hands with his government to tackle the menace of insecurity, assuring that his government was working towards providing social service programmes and soft loans to farmers to boost the agriculture sector of the economy. Oba Wahab Kayode Oyedotun, speaking on behalf of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi who arrived later, assured President Buhari of victory at the February 16 Presidential election.
