Men and women are different, and importantly so. The sexes are not interchangeable. The “genius” of masculinity and feminity shape the roles of husband and wife. Wives want their husbands to be men; men want their wives to be women. I am not going to go so deep educating you on what you already know, let me introduce myself. My name is Funke Badmus, I am a marriage counsellor and I love to talk about trends that makes a lot of men and women make mistakes they later find difficult to amend. It seems like you don’t know what to write or you are looking for attention as usual. I just read the piece you wrote about Nigerians having poverty mentality. Yes you are right by saying we should also celebrate Ayodele Daniel Dada, the first Nigerian to finish university with a perfect CGPA of 5.0, but what is wrong if you start with the celebration. TYbello discovered Olajumoke and polished her to a shining stone as you call it, Ciara discovered another hawker, she even celebrated a Nigerian student by name Akeem who drew a portrait of her. Who have you celebrated?, who have you discovered?, whose life have you changed? All you do is to buy wrist watches. April by Kunbi decided to style Olajumoke because that’s her line and that’s the little way she could support since Olajumoke was discovered as a model. Is Ayodele a model? If no one celebrated him, you can start and stop crucifying others. thank you Freeze, I Am Asking You to Shutup! - Joy Akosa's Corner http://www.joyakosacorner.com/16398-2 |
Episode 12 Few days later, Ada was in her normal spot in the forest when she heard footsteps in the bushes. The person refused to come out and she threw a stone at the direction where she heard the noise. The person screamed, “You have broken my head oh”. “Nonso, you again, why are you always out here, you have started playing pranks right?, I am sorry though, but it serves you right on the other hand” she smiled and took him by the hand to get seated. They both sat on the ground while she searched for a herb to use on his head. “I came in search of you to thank you for the other day, I really appreciate, my mother said if I see you, I should give you this” he handed over a little basket of fruit to her. “oh, so sweet of her, how is she? Thank her for me” she said. She picked the herbs and used it on his head, then they sat down to eat the fruit which he brought. She picked one banana and ate while she was asking him how he knew she was going to be here. “I traced your scent” he said. “Are you now a wolf” she asked laughing as she ate on. The old woman stormed out of the bush and stopped her from taking the fruit “Ada, don’t eat that…” she said. Ada hurriedly stood up, mama what are you saying. Before she could say anything further, the old woman fell on the ground and died. as she wanted to rush to where the woman laid, she fell too and was breathing heavily. The pump price of petrol may sell for less than N87 per litre before the end of the first quarter of 2016, latest findings from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation have revealed. This is coming as the corporation also announced that the Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company would start producing petroleum products beginning from today (Saturday). According to the NNPC, the current pricing template for petrol, which was prepared by the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency, contains significant inefficiencies that should be reviewed. The corporation’s Group General Manager, Corporate Planning and Strategy, Mr. Bello Rabiu, told journalists in Abuja on Friday that going by the fall in the price of crude oil, it was important to consult relevant stakeholders in order to produce an adjusted template. Rabiu said consultation with stakeholders was to negotiate and reduce some of the costs associated with the importation of petrol, adding that the government had the target of reducing the amount charged for logistics and distribution margin on every litre of premium motor spirit consumed in Nigeria. The GGM was affirmative that the adjusted template would surely have a considerable reduction in the pump price of petrol when it is completed before the end of the first quarter of next year, stressing that when this is achieved, there would be no need for subsidy as the import price of PMS would have reduced considerably. http://www.joyakosacorner.com/petrol-may-sell-below-n87per-litre-next-year-nnpc |
Previously on EKE: She was about to be dropped inside the ocean after incantations when she changed into a black python. She was different, she was angry and her body was no longer the same. She slipped out of there while they all feared for their lives and bite one of the elders. She crawled away faster than she has ever done.MISSED IT? READ IT HERE. Episode 10: The python ran into the bus while guards chased it. It was a terrible scene as the elder she bite died on the spot. The darkness that covered the village that day was never seen before. No one knew whether it was the Osimirin god that was still angry or Ada Eke's guardian was guarding her again from evil. The elders and everyone finally left to their homes, none could explain what had happened, but they surely knew they couldn't survive this ordeal. The Eke god doesn't like to be forced to do anything and maybe it is not happy that the people are forcing her daughter against her will to marry a god she doesn't want to have anything to do with. The python left the village into a thick forest and stayed there for a long time before it changed back to Ada who now seems to be crying for all the mess. She wasn't happy that she was created like this. She walked round and round the forest for hours until she saw a shrine. The shrine was built with palm leaves and it was very far from where people lived. She went into the shrine and saw an old woman sitting in a corner and starred at her as she entered in fear. "Come in my dear, you are welcome, I have being dying to meet you but the fear of being killed made me stay back here, knowing that one day you will come around this place" the old woman said. "Fear of being killed how? By who?" Ada Eke asked curiously. "It's a long story and it's too early to start letting all my secrets out to you, don't you think? She replied. So Ada you refused to marry the Osimirin god and save your people from this foreseen disaster, why? Isn't that cruel and heartless of you? If not for anything, they see you as the only source of hope and life now, why deny them of that? The old woman asked. continue reading here: http://www.akosaseries.com/2015/12/episode-10-eke-by-joy-akosa.html |
Episode 9: The death of Vincent took her mind off any other thing around her. She was aggrieved , she never knew it was going to be like this, why would they not leave her alone, why have they decided to take away the only source of her joy, the only person that taught her how to love and the essence of living. Where will she run to, to avoid all these . Ada ran out of the house with her valuables and took the next bus to her village. She knew marrying the god would save her people and she was ready to do it, but she should have been given more time to make up her mind and not killing her man. She was in for revenge. She got to her village some hours later and followed a quiet bush path. She wasn’t ready to go home. She walked through the bushes watching out for wild animals and quietly she settled under an Iroko tree. “they took Vincent from me, they will all pay for his blood” she said to herself. The king who had already sent out a search team to look for her was being visited by several people complaining about strange deaths going on within them. People have been dying mysteriously, the stream has dried up, no water, the farms are turning to weeds and the plants are dying by the second. “Igwe, this is getting out of hand, we need an alternative, we need to appease the angry god and promise him we will bring his wife to him in no time. Lets not continue like this. Please, lets do something” an elder said. “nothing can be done to appease the god, he is too angry and his anger will not calm until he gets hold of Ada Eke, she is the only one that can save us from this danger” the chief priest said. The king couldn’t say a word, he just kept his head down. He was short of words and ideas. It was twelve midnight and Ada has already changed, she moved through the forest and ate of every little thing she could sight. A man who sighted the big snake in the bus, knew it was her, she was the biggest Eke in the town. He shot an arrow at her tail and she struggled on the ground. continue reading here: http://www.akosaseries.com/2015/12/episode-9-ekepython-story-by-joy-akosa.html |
Episode 8 Ada and Vincent both left the village by night and made sure nobody saw them. In Lagos, Ada saw a different way of life that she had never seen before. She was surprised at how everywhere was crowded with business activities. In Vincent’s house, she saw that he had always lived alone and wondered how. “Please, Ada, for no reason should you stay out late, no matter where you are, always endeavor to get here early. Nobody cares who you are, this is not your land and they don’t believe in snakes, if they find out that you are a snake, they will kill you before they realize you are harmless” Vincent said to her while she agreed with a nod. A loud thunder struck the village, the sky was dark and it was as if there was going to be an earthquake as the ground vibrated. Everybody trembled in fear. The Osimirin god was becoming more angry by the day. Ada Eke has left the village, the elders and chief priests in the town did not know what to do anymore. They are all going to pay for the sins of one person. The river of Osimirin suddenly turned black if anyone came near it. The people cried for thirst. Women had to go to other towns to get water which was very very far from the village. “Why is this girl so heartless, why did she have to do this, this is not the way to treat the people, this is not how to do things, we have never gone against her wish before, she was cared for, raised, sent to school, clothed, treated like a princess, now this is how to pay back her own kingdom, why didn’t we just kill her at first? The king said angrily. “the gods are angry, there is no way we can appease until we bring him his wife. Who can pass for the Eke now, what do we do? An elder lamented. continue reading here: http://www.akosaseries.com/2015/12/episode-8-ekepython-war-begins-by-joy.html |
Episode 7 The Osimirin Oracle was the strongest god of the river Osimirin in Umunato village. The people of Umunato have kept their belief sacred for years. They do not joke with the Osimirin River. The Osimirin River is angry and nothing can calm the angry river down until it gets what it wants. Many years ago, Pythons lived in the river, it was believed to have married one of them as his wife. The python the river married grew old in that river until one day it went out to the bush to feed on what it finds but never came back. The Eke was the oldest Eke in the town and it was the same python that took care of Ada Eke when she was born and since it died, it has passed its power to Ada. It has been over 20 years the mighty Eke wife of Osimirin River died and he has not gotten another replacement. He needs a wife and since Ada Eke is the next in line of the mighty Eke and she has its powers. She must marry the Osimirin oracle to save the land from this destruct that is about to happen” the chief priest who was present explained to everyone what was happening . Everybody starred at themselves in great shock and shook their heads while murmuring within themselves. “So you mean to say, I should marry a river? And do what, will I be living there as mammy water or what, are you people actually hearing yourselves” Ada Eke said angrily. A python passed her powers to me and took care of me during my early days on earth and that is how I became like this, did the python tell you that she passed the powers to me to take over her as a wife to the river? Ada Eke asked looking and sounding very furious. This message is what the gods said we should pass down. We believe you love your people, the people who accepted you as a daughter, no one has ever treated you differently, we have loved you as we have loved any other Eke, the Eke generally have gained peace in this land, now its your turn to pay us back, by saving us from this evil. All you need to do is to accept and the marriage rites will be ready, your home will be built near the river. No man is allowed to touch you, you will be his forever, I don’t think that is too much task to do” An elder said. “you foolish old man, why don’t you tell your daughter to go and marry the gods” she said and walked away angrily. “this girl is very rude and stubborn, she must marry the oracle whether by will or by force, we all cant die because of a girl who has refused to give up her body for the sake of her people” another elder said while standing up to leave. Others followed him arguing on their way out. Suddenly there was an aura of grey around her. It was a mist that wouldn't rise. A state of depression that she couldn't see herself through. She felt a terrible weight on her shoulders. It was as if a giant boulder was laid on her and she couldn't straighten up or catch her breath entirely. continue reading it here: http://www.akosaseries.com/2015/11/episode-7-ekepython.html |
EPISODE 6 It was 12midnight and the moon was already out, the large python crawled through the bushes and found its way home. It was a terrible experience as the king and his wife were already worried about her whereabouts. She crawled back into her room, only a maid who was at the entrance of the palace saw the python moving at a fast pace to the inner chamber. She just alerted the others that Ada was back home. In the morning, all that was running through her head was how to find Vincent. She sent out few guards to go in search of him while she went with two other guards to search for him. Nobody plays on Eke’s intelligence and goes away with it. Ada was out for anyone who tried to stop her. Her normally calm and pleasant demeanor slowly changed and her face contorted in an all - consuming anger; her nostrils flaring, her eyes flashing and closing into slits, her mouth quivering and drooling, slurring words that were unintelligible came spewing into space like a volcano releasing its pent up emotions into the darkness. She spent five hours searching everywhere but no one found him. She retired to her room and was not ready to attend to anyone who came to see her. Ikenna walked into her room with smiles on his face. “why do you decide to stress yourself. What’s up with this your boyfriend that you won’t let go of? For your information, he is in my custody and I am not planning to release him anytime soon. I will make sure he pays for stealing you away. He said frowning this time. She quickly got up, “you said what? Her hands closed into fists and she crouched forward, daring him to repeat once more the words that had torn her heart into fragments, that had dashed all her expectations of what next to do. EPISODE 5 It became so restless and couldn't help but untangle itself from where it was. The python who was now wounded by the stones been thrown at it, quickly lengthened its body and crawled away faster than anyone could imagine. It ran into a bush where no one knew where it entered. A man in the bus tried stopping the people, telling them not to kill the harmless snake, explaining to them that the snake would have bitten them but it didn't meaning it was harmless. The bus driver asked everyone to enter the bus so they could continue their journey. It was later discovered that one person was missing inside the bus. "There was a girl seating here before, where is she?" A woman asked. Everyone looked at the space and it dawned on them that someone must have changed to the python and there was no way a python would have entered a moving bus and stayed calm on a seat. They kept on talking about the incident while the bus moved. It was a mystery. It was 5am in the morning, Ada Eke had changed back to her real self. She was dumb founded. She would have been killed if she didn't run for her life. Stocked in the middle of no where, lost and didn't know where to turn to. Vincent who was now very scared at the way the people were taking the issue said he was sorry if he committed an offence. He was asked to buy a coffin, white cloth, and do a befitting burial for the Eke. He said that was very abnormal and said he would do no such thing and walked out on the elders. Ada Eke was very angry at Vincent, she cried for days because he killed her flesh and blood. Vincent wondered why she took it so personal and apologized just to make peace reign. But that wasn’t enough. He needed to make the sacrifice. On the day of the burial which was seven days later. He went to the river of Umuato and digged the ground. He was surprised to see Ada Eke wearing a white cloth and holding an Eke round her neck. She was the one who would make sure the rights were duly conducted before he is set to be released and be a free man or he would be punished. Vincent saw this as against his religion and his Christian life. First he never knew his lover was among the Eke deities, she has never mentioned it, now he is being asked to bury a useless dead python in front of so many people. He couldn’t do it and decided to walk out. Let them do what they want to do. “I can’t believe this useless tradition of yours, what kind of nonsense is this, do I have to bury a lifeless animal, a dangerous creature for that matter” he said angrily. “Shut your mouth there” Ada Eke shunned him. “You don’t speak ill of a dead Eke. You have committed a serious sacrilege in the town, you either bury the Eke or you will have your family die one after the other” she said angrily. |

Kelechi died immediately, leaving her child who she never knew whether it was a girl or boy to a python. The python wrapped the child for days with its cold body. Days, weeks, months passed and she grew into a beautiful child. How she survived, only the python knew. He protected her. She didn’t have a name; she was just there with the python day and night. He climbed to the tree to throw down fruits and feeds the baby with its mouth. She got used to life in the bush in no time. A hunter passing by heard the baby’s cry one afternoon and went after the voice. He wondered why an Eke was lying lifeless on the ground and what killed it. The pretty girl was given to the king and he summoned the elders to deliberate on what to do with the child. “Egwe, I think this child is a curse and not a blessing, she caused a python to die, she should be killed” an elder said and many agreed. The king in his wisdom asked for them to take the child to the Eke oracle in the village square. The chief priest asked for her to be kept in the shrine, she stayed in the shrine for seven days and night. Each time it was moonlight, the child disappears from its spot and what the chief priest sees is a small python. He observed this for days and came to the conclusion that she was the one changing to an Eke. He ordered for her to be kept in the palace that she wasn’t a curse, she was blessed by the Eke deities and she should be treated as a blessing. From then on, she was named ‘Ada Eke’. Ada Eke lived in the palace with the king, queen and their son. She changed to Eke during the night as usual and everybody was used to it.
