The Enugu State Commissioner for Local Government Matters, Okey Ani, has announced that the ministry will introduce workforce management biometrics in a bid to address truancy at the local government level, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported. The commissioner said in an interview with NAN that the level of truancy in local government calls for concern and that the majority of staff members only go to work to collect salaries at the end of the month and disappear thereafter. According to the commissioner, the new biometrics system would be implemented before the end of the first quarter in 2013. “Nobody pays for nothing. No work, no pay. You are meant to work for you to earn your salary,” Ani said. “If we establish this biometrics system, it will checkmate both ghost workers and absenteeism, and so on. We will be able to establish how many staff in the local government system, the real authentic staff because the ghost workers syndrome is not a joke.” As BiometricUpdate.com has previously reported, Nigeria has been rapidly adopting biometric systems across the country for a wide variety of applications. Currently the country is looking to capture the biometric data of its citizens over the next five years. Additionally, the Nigerian Customs Service has announced that it will introduce a biometric system to protect from hackers gaining access to its Direct Traders Input System. Though it isn’t yet apparent which workforce management system the Commissioner plans to adopt, M2SYS reports that the Nigerian federal government has implemented the M2SYS Hybrid Biometric Platform identification solution to register and track half a million federal employees, also in a bid to prevent ghost workers. |

This is a story from a very depressed woman who needs an advice. I am 40 years old this year, I am a beautiful, intelligent but lonely woman. I was 17years old when I got admission into the university, and in my second year, I met a guy, we dated for about 4months and I got pregnant, when I got pregnant, I told my boyfriend and he denied impregnating me, he said we had only dated for 4months and that I was trying to trap him down with pregnancy which he was not ready for. With the support of my parents, I kept the pregnancy and had my baby girl, my daughter grew up into a beautiful woman. The whole problem started when my daughter was 22 years old daughter. One day she called me to say she is bringing her fiancé home in 2days time, that he had proposed to marry her and she accepted. I was so happy to see my daughter achieve what I couldn’t achieve all though my youthful age. When my daughter and her fiancé came home two days later, I was so dumb founded. My daughter came home with this cute, tall, dark and lovable guy, when he smiled, I almost melted. Immediately my heart loved him and I knew there was problem. I took them both inside and we got talking, they said they’ve made arrangements for the wedding to come up in 2weeks time. And I was like, why the rush, and they told me my daughter was already pregnant and they just needed to do everything fast. After my daughter and her fiancé left, I kept thinking about this guy, what it will be like having him all to myself but then I also thought about my daughters feelings and how its going to hurt her if I make any crazy move at the guy and I don’t ever want to hurt my daughter for any reason so i thought the only way I was going to kill that feeling was to avoid seeing the guy. read more here. http://www.fizzyjoy..com/2012/12/me-my-daughter-and-my-son-inlaw.html#more Honestly what do you think thhis lady should do? |
The man in the picture below is Taofeek Muraina, a resident of Gunwin Akingbile, Moniya, Ibadan, Oyo State. He is a 40 years old bricklayer who was born with one eye ball gorging out of its socket. Muraina said he has been with this eye problem all his life and as each day goes by, he feels like dying because of the way he is being treated in the society. Mauraina was said to have attempted suicide twice and was caught on the two occasions. The first time was five months ago and recently on the 5th of December, he attempted to take his life again but was interrupted by his landlady who met him when he was mixing the poison he wanted to drink. Mauraina said, everybody hates him because he has an eye issue, even his wife abandoned him and his 10years old son for another man. Where he does his bricklaying job everybody see him as a deformed man and nobody likes him despite the fact that he is hustling to make a living for himself and his son. These are the reasons why he wanted to kill himself. Mauraina neighbours said his eye problem can be corrected by him undergoing a surgery but there is no fund to take him for any. When he went to the University Teaching hospital, he was asked to pay N10m. He said he decided to end it because there is no one to help him out with the money he needs for surgery or even take care of him. http://www.fizzyjoy..com/2012/12/a-man-tries-to-kill-himself-over-eye.html#more

Am so loving this thread. A friend told me about an interview that 20 people were shortlisted for. On getting to the company, the whole 20 of them were kept in a room for about 3hrs without anybody coming to attend to them, after a while, some of them began to gist, some turned their chairs to face each other while others kept their legs on their chairs and gisting and laughing. Little did they knw that the management was watching their every move from the CCTV. Only one guy comported himself and neva spoke to anyone... And he was the only one picked among the 20 of them... |
