Abdomox: I doubt that will be enough tho. I did my 3 bedroom apartment, and I used 1015 blocks (3 blocks inside, 2 blocks outside)
Best method is to use the number of blocks you used in doing foundation as estimate (1 course), then multiply by 2 or 3.
You can also share your floor plan for people to advise you better.
Congrats on this feat. My brother u will be in the better position to help me get a better estimate for my own build coz am also doing a three bedroom bungalow. Plz did you do chain lintel or u covered only the openings? Plz share if you don't mind? |

ananne: Please I have done the lintel of my 5 bedroom bungalow. I want to add the customary 2-3 blocks on top of the lintel before roofing. My project manager is saying I will need about a 1000 blocks.
Will it be too much?
How much is a block sold in the south east now... Preferably anambra state. My brother congratulations for reaching dis stage. It's not easy at all. Plz can you share the analysis of the lintel? It will be of great help to me |

Takoro13: This is the original plan.
What do you have to say sr. I prefer the first one but needs certain adjustments to come out better. Like removing dat wall separating the lounge and the kitchen and then swap the kitchen with d dinning reducing the length of the bedroom near d ( dinning ) to create a passage to lead to the kitchen wen swapped to avoid some one going to the kitchen being seen by every body in the lounge etc |

Every Mason Man for street now claims to be an Engineer
Worse thing is most clients would rather patronise them cos they are cheap Engage the so-called professionals,they'll buy inferior materials and use ur money to erect mansions for themselves. Am sure we know how this game is being played |

End-Time Building Construction Ltd! The mud houses built by our fore fathers are still standing in the villages. Remember: No 9" blocks, no 5" concrete footing, no iron rods, no German floor, no beams, no columns, no parapet, etc on these buildings yet they have not collapsed. |

SOCHDESIGNS: the height of a kimgpost(roof) is actually determined by the span and to some extent the shape of the building. So 12ft for a small 3 bedroom bungalow might be workable.so the larger the building, the higher the kingpost. The house measures 42f by 42ft |

Etranshub: Not sure about how many bags of cement but can give you a break down on the 12mm road. Buy 20 lengths that will be enough.
Breakdown
Let's assume you are using a square ring (irrespective of the size) * doors = cut maximum of 5ft per length by 4 (square ring) = 20ft /door lintel by 17 doors = 340 divide by 38 (a length of rod is between 38ft-40ft)=8.9 lengths of rods
* window (let's assume your windows are 4ft by 4ft) cut maximum of 6ft per length by 4 (square ring)= 24ft /window lintel by 14 windows =336 divide by 38 = 8.8 lengths of rod
* toilet windows (2ft by 2ft window) cut 3ft by 4 pcs = 12/toilet window by 4 windows = 48fts divide by 38 = 1.3 lenths of rod.
Total = 8.9+8.8+1.3= 18.9 lengths Can I use 10mm Rod instead of 12mm? |
