BrabusNG: Yes, a very compact 4 bedroom duplex that’ll meet the standard setback requirement can be built on the land.
This 4 bedroom duplex design can be scaled down to fit the land. Remove the large porch, terraces and trim the lounge/dining down a bit and it’ll perfectly fit. Thanks so much for this. Please can you share the upper floor of this plan if you don't mind? I'll appreciate. |

ARALADY4U: People say abestos is poisonous to human's health but that is where they born and trained us till now, I took up a project and my client did not want to spend much so we concluded on using nigerite boards for pop ceiling and it came out well after screening just like pop ceiling designs. You can contact a good carpenter and give him the design to do, it will come out fine Please do share the pictures if you have them. |

ArcToyin: Maybe you didn't read my comment on the post, i suggested having it inside. I raised the question because she was not satisfy with my response and the position of the door. The door can also be put outside if that is what she is thinking then i will now explain to her the negatives of it. This similar situation has been dictated by clients umpteen times. Some wanted it outside while some inside some don't want it at all while some will never take a design without it. A similar issue to this is that of Guest bedroom. Some think it should be accessed from the Living room, others think it should be from the Ante room thereby blocking the room from the main house. My question now is " what should be the right practice?" |

Dennis3D: LOL. The size and height of a kingpost is determined by the area and size of the building.
I did a building in Lakowe golf course on my thread for 18fit kingpost.
Building dimension is 14m x 26m. Mine is 12.25m x 12.325m and the carpenter said the king post will be 21ft |

mufutau55: If the King Post pass 16ft, that roof is not for me. The thing don become Fulani nomad hut be that o. Nah simplicity for me.
Hajji M. Imagine o, I took a carpenter to measure my house for roofing sometime ago. I told him I wanted a low roof with gable style and he told me categorically that he would not do it because it's no longer in vogue. He started brainwashing me to do the "send down the rain roof", I told him I want my own different and that if he's not ready to work, then i would get another person. And that's the country we are in- copying and being copied! |

fabulous85: be careful with the flat roof o, my neighbour de repair roof every day. the roof de leak and no solution I was born and bred in a flat roofed house with the Swan Zinc you people have rejected today but till now the roof is still there and am not less than 30. So it's possible your friend' s house was roofed with all these "Painted Papers" called Aluminium sheets or Stone coated tiles. |

mufutau55: It is not needed, and it does nothing for the duplex or any building... and there are plenty duplex without them. People just like them for aesthetic (beauty). Even they have them for many bungalows too.
Hajji M. Thanks for your contributions sir! |

Focusmind: That's my battle with my wife right now. People see those two pillars as sign of big building.
I don't like it at all. Contemporary houses do not have those pillars. I don't know why Nigerian architects are so obsessed with the pillars.
My wife has castigated our building because I didn't include the so called pillars and made comparison to other ones within my estate with pillars.
She said the front looks empty and unattractive without the pillars. So, me and my site supervisor are now trying to erect the so called pillars.
I have been searching to see a possible aesthetically appealing design that I could adopt and not the regular designs I see here. What really annoys me is that when you ask these architects to design a house for you, they would come with nothing but those archaic pillars with tiles all over telling you that it's what is in vogue. Another one is this roofs that will be twice taller than the house itself. And they would tell you everybody is doing it that way. Honestly, I hate those "National Anthem" styles. |

Good evening and happy weekend to everyone. Plz, I have noticed that most(if not all) of the houses in Nigeria especially the duplex types are not built without these traditional two big frontal pillars. And I puuse to ask if it's compulsory to have them in our builds? What exactly are their functions? Thanks! |
