Can't believe I watched the above video to the end, valid points made though. If you are applying for the first time, make consultations o, all questions are relevant, the application money no be small money and these people are looking to take as much from you as possible, milking the cash cow as our in-house oga will say. Won't be surprised if there are plans to increase fees again with the hit they are projecting the economy will take due to brexit.

For my people already past first stage will suggest putting aside something maybe<<#50 a month, depending on your income, so when the time to apply for FLR, your finances won't take a big hit, another option is the credit card but all in all we will pay sha.

All the best as we 'fagburu' and try to make a better life for ourselves and family and big thank you too those that guide us here on making our application.

Honestly i cant believe i watched to the end of the 1st video really pointless obviously she aint free but if you follow all the things here on nairaland learn from other mistakes.
As per increment we have already set aside doe next application fees.
Honestly some people might be skeptical getting married outside Uk.
God will help us. Just pitying people who are trying to bring in their families with all these increments.

I know about the council tax grin grin I was lucky to have dodged it for a few months in the UK (as a student), its ridiculous but that's what they use to maintain the community so I don't complain much, besides Cheshire isn't so expensive.

No I am not in the UK yet, I am hopeful that my spouse visa is a success cos we are planning the white wedding there, hence my needing my family over. But like you said, I have to lock up and save it sad. As for handwork, my dear, God did not bless me like that o, my sister was applauding me the other day for sewing the strap of my singlet back grin, but I will try my hands on the ebay stuff. Thank you

.
Hahahahaha.... grin. Very funny. You right Not everyone is cut out into having an enterprise.
Wishing you all the best and favour pray everything works out as plan pls invite us to the wedding and your thanksgiving offering to ogalexgus.

God bless you o.. been thinking of how outrageous their fees have become. This is close to day light robbery! Well if Nigeria wasn't backwards, we wouldn't be in the UK in the first place, to have to condone such ill-treatment. Its paining me more cos I am budgeting about 5k quid just to bring take my family for a weeks visit there. It is well o.

Just for weeks holiday right? You based in the UK? If you are why not save it and them apply to join you

Not only Nigerians it affects everyone try to bring their love ones over.
Like you rightly said Its really daylight daylight robbery. embarassed

Oh! i forgot to mention Council TAX Bill that alone drives me nut lol.
But well we have to keep going.
Its best you starting thinking of things you can on E-bay for extra income
Or look round your community see what you do to make extra income that wont involve you going against the law that's if you have entrepreneurial spirit. Having multiple streams of income one is what fits uk life. That's what i did .

Before the consideration of child you need to tackle reasons for rejection once the loop whole is closed then empathy comes in (staying as a family sake of the child)

@joyful girl do u think citizen advice is easy to get in to for voluntary. Guys on this forum are a bit quiet.

Yes it is,...
Give them a ring all they will ask you questions , send you an email and form you fill, they will do DBS check on you go for interview then you do training. There are different departments pick the one that might help you use to attach to your CV to enable you get a job.
People are quiet is becos people aren't chatting byt it would be good if we all chat at evening time after work day and weekends.

If you can't get a job immediately in the uk try volunteering in citizens advice around your town or locality while you still job hunting.
Nice opportunities there including free training to enhance your skills.

WeLCOME TO THE UK DONT FORGET TO GET AND REGISTER YOURSELF AND DOCUMENTS.
One advice if you cant get a job immediately, try doing voluntary work that will help your cv and more chances of getting a job.
Trying volunteering @"citizens advice" its a an office voluntary service they give public advice in different areas

You can work in different areas including admin and customer service till you able to get a paid job.
They do free training too that will help boost your Cv and skills.

Ogalexus how you doing long tym.

Don't waste your money getting the Nigeria police report as u can get a job without it. If u will be doing care job then, u require CRB certificate which cost £50 and are valid for 3 years or so and that is will be done in uk. Just pack your bag and come over. Cheers

Thanks @Lexus430 for your response.
He said that we didn't need landline for now.

I will start going places and job centres immediately.

I can work in any available position.

Please is it a must to register with council tax? Hubby he's from Ijebu and saying the bills will be high on him.

Please what can I do?.

This council tax thingy you need to strategise on how which you will use for your next application if you dont add council tax which will you use for next application cos you need present I think 4 or 3 bills of your full stay u were in the uk .
I know its quite expensive but I had to add it dont want to go through stress for next stage .

The ni number stuff can be annoying , I was refused a job becos of it despite the fact I told them its in view.
Sorry for late reply

Please I want to confirm if he has to go along with our 2 years old daughter to Immigration office in Ikeja for the passport submission? he can go alone to submit the passports? Please anyone has an idea. We need help on that please.

Its urgent for us. Thanks and God bless you all.

So in a nutshell:
-Council tax
-Collect BRP
-National Insurance
-Electric company
-Gas company ( if you have)
-Water company (both fresh and waste)
- phone bills

Then once you have a letter from one of the utilities or council tax:
-Bank Account
-GP
-Dentist (if any )
-

useful information:
NI number:
https://www.gov.uk/apply-national-insurance-number call 0345 600 0643 Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm (make sure you state he has been offered a job but requires a NI number) they will ask why you need one although obvious, however you can actually work for up to 12 weeks without an NI number smiley this is issued now by the jobcentre Plus not DWP

You need to get proof of address before you can open a bank account or register with a GP, so make sure those are the first things, check your billing dates for utilities as you could time it to get a bill the following day, as i called the day before my bill was due to be generated (luckily)

Driving Licence ( international licence can be used for 12 months from entering UK)
https://www.gov.uk/apply-first-provisional-driving-licence

And make sure you file any letters for Joint or single names for your next stage FLR as you need to provide proof of cohabitation smiley

I hope this helps smiley

Hey guys, just came in with my Daughter, it's been all fun but Gosh! The cold is something else.
Done BRP, got my NI also. thnks 4 documents posted for the nxt phase, I'ld like to ask if hubby is expected to meet up to a financial requirement and if yes how much and how much wud be the application fee. One got to start working on dem too u knw.

1st of all lets welcome you on board to uk cold weather and life of enjoyment I refuse to use negative words about uk cos what you say is what you get . Lol hope you enjoyed the flight ? What Airline did you use?

The weather is getting realky cold by the day yhank God for the sun in some days . Dont forget to use hot water bottle to save electric power for oga .

Anyway yes your hubby and you this time are meant to meet up the financial requirements together thsts if you decide to work but if you will not be working then the roller coaster starts again where only him will have to meet up the same 18, 600 fees but if you will be working then you reduced the load on him and you both work and meet the requirements .

The thing about this application fees, is one can't tell when the govt will increase the application fees my advise is just save £3, 500 in a save deposit be on the save side for next phase that should cover the fees and nhs and if you wanna pay for priority . and if its only for you not your child .

For now just make sure hubby puts you on all the bills cos you have to show proof you will need it .
The joint account etc .
Wishing you all the best I believe the next phase should be easy and more relaxing since its more of cohabitation . And financial proof.

I think I read it somewhere that the embassy doesn’t recognise local government marriage certs. It’s might have been under this topic or elsewhere. Regardless, if the federal republic of Nigeria doesn’t recognise weddings conducted by the LGs (because they have been labelled unfit to conduct marriage ceremonies by the govt) then I don’t think it’s safe to assume that the UK would recognise the LG certs.

Personal experience
I was asked if I will use my certificate to travel I said yes . Cos my hubby is British I was going to apply to join him
I was told not to go local I should get married at federal if am applying at embassy .
Federal is recognized .
That was what I was told .
Hope this helps .

Am really sorry senior justwise like to come in there .
When I was applying I went through people's application I saw they got letter from land lord that its okay for their spouse to live there even on this platform cos some landlord might just want only one tentant .
Even us we got the tenancy agreement and a letter that he is aware of my coming and he is fine with it .
That lettter from landlord wont be bad . cheesy

justwise:

The applicant doesn't need to add his or her own bank statement or letter from employer, the sponsor needs to submit all that.

Tenancy agreement is enough you don't need to add receipt of rent payment.

If you are renting 1 or two bedroom flat you don't need a letter from your landlord allowing your wife or husband to live with you, show me where that is mentioned as a requirement. You only need a letter from landlord in the case of multiple occupation accommodation

Thanks both. We made a priority application and yesterday went past the 10 day timeframe of when documents should be received so it's probably too late to send more documentation. Maybe I'm just being paranoid after reading some of the reasons people have given for their applications being rejected and don't want to take any risks. As suggested I will just pray and hope the ones already sent will do the work.

Please i would like to ask a question..I applied for FLR under my child who is a British born during May 2017,did my biometric in june and after 2months,my document was returned back to me because the home office couldn't take their fee from my account so i decided to purchase a postal order and sent back my document along with the postal order in september (last month)which i;m using for the home office payment....Although i know it takes 6months to approve my application if they successfully took the payment but since they were unable to take their payment and i paid by postal order,do i need to wait for another 6months or it wouldnt take up to 6months before they could approve my application once they receive my application with the postal order....And is there any probability that i would be granted a leave to remain

If you have all documents right and they have chop their money everything should be fine . Best of luck
