Christianity EtcRe: Akwa Ibom State Tragedy: When God Goes AWOL by joywendy(f): 11:50am On Dec 13, 2016
*coughs* I saw this somewhere and I totally relate with it. Since I saw this thread, I just knew it will be good to put it here

Sometimes ago, I shared a post of a friend on emotional intelligence. The Uyo church tragedy and the comments from my Facebook friends truly show Nigerians have a lot of emotional intelligence "growing up" to do.

If the mishap had occurred in say a beer palour, night club, or strip club, many religious people wouldn't have wasted time and thoughtlessly say : "na God catch them". Using the misery, misfortune and tragedy of others to score cheap religious points.

Sadly, same applies to atheist. I've read several post from my atheist friends on Facebook, mocking the dead, asking where their God was when the tragedy happened and other silly sort of comments. It's uncalled for and totally wrong.

Where is your empathy for fellow humans. Lives were lost and you see the tragedy as an avenue to score cheap points in furthering your atheism? Well you lack common sense and have a lot of emotional growing up to do.

To the senseless survivals of the tragedy who waste no time to update their Thanksgiving on Facebook, Ini Edo and co, you are all emotionally retarded and insensitive to the misfortunes of others and have a lot of growing up to do.

this Ignorance pass me o "men and women have only one thing that differenciates them and that's their reproductive organs"
Why not you bring up your points and I bring up mine and let's see who is the ignorant one between the both of us. Than making side remarks.

I have explained what I mean by reproductive organs above. if you going to talk of hormones cause that's the usual argument. Hormones of the reproductive system is what makes us different.

I'm willing to learn any other opinion and correct my assertions. I can't say the same for people who just jump in to make side remarks without bringing up any explanation to discredit a claim

What change are you looking for, exactly? That women behave like men and men behave like women? No way. If God/nature wanted it so, we would be made the same. I say, no need for change. Do well as you are.

I beg go and collect a refund on your biology classes. There are quite a few more differences between male and female, hormones being one of them. Oestrogen and testosterone are not things you acquire in a pack of noodles. These hormones are what make us masculine or feminine. That's why boys gravitate towards a certain direction and girls, another. Read up on human hormones, madam.

Na so. Google is there for you to read and research, free of charge. Women and men act the way they do because of certain biological imperative imprinted in their DNA. It's why men are aggressive and women are relatively passive. No matter how much you try social engineering, men will take more risks than women. No amount of same-way rearing can change that.

Yeah. How many men do you know who fantasise about their wedding day like feminists do?

Well, you have/will have children. I challenge you to put these ideas of yours to the test. God-willing, I will be here when they grow up. Tell me the result.

The terms, maybe. The concepts have been and continue to manifest even in the face of the strongest feminist assault. Society simply took advantage of the phenomenon.
I don't think you understand me,what differentiates us male and female is based on the hormones of the reproductive organs. So no I'm not wrong when I say that....it's the reproductive organs.

You do know that not all male and females are the same right? Not all men are aggressive and all ladies are passive. You can't use that as a yardstick to judge every male and female out there.

What makes you think that all feminists fantasises about their weddings? And all guys don't? You do know that there are male feminists right? Lol, please when you are taught and trained from childhood to look at weddings and marriage as your ultimate goal in life. Why won't you fantasise about it? I don't expect you to understand anyways you weren't brainwashed that way so why bother even trying to understand those who were?

Lol, Why do I need to show or tell you the result of my personal life?

Feminist Assault what the hell is that? Society took advantage of what? I'm not getting

Why you getting all work up for this topic sef? You can't seem to pass across you point in a civil manner. We are sharing opinions not fighting abeg....

Both genders should not be raised the same because they are not the same. They have generally different aspirations and motivations, and as a consequence you cannot raise the the same.
How many women do you know who primarily look for a husband who can cook and clean ober one who can provide and protect? How many men do you know who look for a woman who can provide and protect he and his children over a woman who can care and nurture his offspring. Genders are not the same. It is the height of deceit and tragedy to treat them the same.

Gender norms and stereotypes cannot be broken because men are attracted to feminine women and women are attracted to masculine men in the general sense. Anything different is an anomaly.
if you keep on the concept of training both genders differently then how do we expect real change in the process?

Women and men have only one thing that differentiates them. That's their reproductive organs. That one is divine and not anyone's doing. A child learn what ever you teach them and condition them to believe.

if both genders were raised exactly the same way with no bias and what not. we wont have this issue we are discussing and that's the honest truth. If most guys were taught how to do domestic work and most ladies were taught to be financially independent. No one will be complaining that women are money mongers and guys are dirty and don't know anything about domestic work. If there was a balance then there wouldn't be any differences as you see today.

Both Genders can have the same aspiration and dreams. Nothing wrong with a woman who wants to be a CEO of a company or a man just simply wants to be a make up artist.

It's what they have grown up too and believe that makes them see thing like that as anormly

Who created the masculine and feminine concept? is it not the same society? That's generalisation by the way....
CultureRe: Feminism: Operationally Contradictory? by joywendy(f):
so many silly arguments going on here and there.

The concept of feminism is a concept that many Nigerians refuse to understand. Even some ladies and some guys who call themselves feminist don't understand the term.

The reason I don't associate with such term as people tend to read feminism as some sort of men hating let the women rule the world kinda shit.

That's not the concept behind it. Equalist is a better term to describe the concept behind feminism. If you don't understand something you ask.

The op is right in some regards, you fight for equality then be ready for the consequences of your responsibilities.

Fairness in all areas. We talk about female child education what about the male child education? we talk of domestic violence against women what about against men as well? we talk about rape on women what about on men?

Some of the Nigerian/African feminist keep making it seem like women are the "only" victims. In all honesty we are all victims of the terrible norms, culture of the society.

If you want fairness in all areas of life then we need to come together as one, break the societal norms of gender roles and gender stereotypes. Break the male dominant culture in most of our traditions.

Raise the two genders the same way. Let the boys and girls learn how to do domestic work and be financially independent.

This is the true concept behind feminism but like I said the term as being bastardised and equalist or humanist would be a better and acceptable term to use.

GamingRe: Nairaland Official Chess Thread! by joywendy(f):
Hello Guys

I have an issue I think we should discuss....

The concept of female prizes in Nigerian chess

I get the idea that it helps to promote ladies in chess but I feel that the title tends to celebrate mediocrity indirectly.

Especially for some of the ladies who may just focus on getting the female prize and forget that the main prize that is also available for them as well. It just creates an unending cycle.....You see some ladies only coming to participate because they hear that there is a female prize available.

That shouldn't be at all, what's wrong with giving everyone a fair chance of winning? The same playing field? If you keep on with the concept of giving female prizes will most of the females ever see the reason of wanting to compete on a higher scale like everyone else? Wanting to push the boundary?

Is there another way we can encourage ladies without using the concept of female prizes?

There is something called artificial insemination...it's possible something of that sort happened. Saw something like that in a series once when a lady was mistakenly injected in the hospital with sperm. Yes it's very possible that she didn't miss her period...not every pregnant woman misses their periods. Who said that the child is not premature? Some people when they are pregnant they hardly experience tge signs that people usually have...

There are a lot of possibilities to this her story, she doesn't have money to take care of herself and the baby so it's very possible that's she is perhaps tell the truth...

There is this show "I didn't know I was Pregnant" , you guys need to watch this show and you will realise that this is just a small case....Weird things happen everyday beyond our understanding.

Like Cococandy said,if you believe in virgin Mary why do you find it difficult to believe this story? grin
RomanceRe: Who Tells The Most Lies In A Relationship? by joywendy(f): 9:37pm On Dec 03, 2016
This is a very stupid question, no offence to the op.

As usual everyone will come up here to say that their gender is not the kind that lies in a relationship.

Lying has nothing to do with gender. it has to do with the general make up of the two individuals in a relationship and also on the relationship itself.

If I were to choose, I will say the two are likely to lie in the relationship...anyone who says the other gender lies more is just trying so hard to be in denial of what their supposed gender I.e humans in general are capable off...

Case closed!

WebmastersFacebook Profile Glitch 'kills' Millions. Even Mark Zuckerberg by joywendy(op):
A glitch on the social media site found people logging in to their accounts on Friday, only to find they had been prematurely ‘memorialized’

Rumours of Mark Zuckerberg’s death may have been greatly exaggerated – but by his own billion-plus user website, as a glitch on Friday afternoon led Facebook to declare two million users, including Zuckerberg himself, prematurely dead.

People logging in to their accounts to find that they had been “memorialized”, with a message saying (in Zuckerberg’s case): “We hope people who love Mark will find comfort in the things others share to remember and celebrate his life.”

Just a day earlier, Zuckerberg had said the idea that fake news on Facebook could sway people in their voting decisions was “crazy”.

At time of writing, at least four Guardian US journalists are among those who were declared by the social media giant to have shuffled off this mortal coil.

Facebook apologised for the glitch and explained that it was related to the social network’s protocol for ‘memorializing’ a person’s page when they do actually die.

The company planned to introduce the new messaging to existing memorialized pages, but mistakenly displayed it on two million other accounts.

“For a brief period today, a message meant for memorialized pages was mistakenly posted to other accounts. This was a terrible error that we have now fixed. We are very sorry that this happened and we worked as quickly as possible to fix it,” said a spokeswoman.

When the message appeared, hundreds of dismayed users complained on Twitter about their premature digital deaths.

Facebook does allow users to memorialize the accounts of deceased family members or friends by submitting a formal request . Typically they must identify the account of the person who has died, the date they passed away and show proof of death, such as a link to an obituary or death certificate. “This is very helpful to the team that reviews memorialization requests,” says Facebook.

If a request is accepted, the word “remembering” is shown next to the person’s name and the profile no longer appears in public spaces such as suggestions for People You May Know, or for birthday reminders.

Users can appoint a legacy contact while they are alive to manage their account when they die. If a user fails to do this, the profile is preserved but can’t be edited.

Happy married life. To all the ignorant homophobics holier than thou Nigerians who are shouting Gay marriage is a sin. I bet you didnt know its been legal in 117 countries. The same countries you would gladly run to if you were given the opportunity.
Gay marriage is a sin. Did you know it was legalised in Argentina since 1887? Has God destroyed that country yet?
Gay marriage is a sin. Isn't corruption a sin too? Isn't that what is destroying us?
Gay marriage is a sin. How about fornication? How about envy, mockery, backstabbing and the other truckloads of dirty stuff you so called Christians and Muslims do both in hiding and in the open every damn day!
Gay marriage is a sin. And it was allowed in God's own country? How about you petition God instead?

Your leaders (church and state) are milking you dry, but you like that don't you? Police men are jumping on top of cars. Cultist are on the loose. You very much like all of that. You just don't like gays. As if it affects you in any way. What should affect you is totally ignored.

And wait sef, who said homosexuality is a Western thing? Just so you know, like slave ownership, its been in Africa for a long time, you had better start making life better for all around you and stop this rubbish. If I vent too much now they will say I am gay. Morons! They read one part of the bible then come out and act religious. If we are to follow the bible then I hope you know we should be stoning women who didn't marry as virgins? I hope ur wife, mothers and sisters are virgins. Nonsense.
Gives him water to drink....oya guy calm down...it no reach that level...grin No be all Christians and Muslims dey think that way Na.
