Sports / Re: I Want My Friend, José Peseiro To Win The AFCON - Jose Mourinho by jpcomrade: 6:11pm On Feb 11
I saw Ahmed Musa scoring a goal for Nigeria and possibly the winning goal today, I saw him jubilating profoundly like the game is over.

Somebody should tell the coach to play him in this final, even if it's for few minutes in the second half.

The Lord God will do nothing without first revealing it to His servants the prophets.

Music/Radio / I Got Used To Piano, I Play Without Attending Training Class by jpcomrade: 6:19pm On Apr 28, 2023
House, can I call myself a pianist now, I bought one, got used to the keys on my own, now I play any kind of music that I know, I play hymns that I know both ancient and modern without attending any class or enrolling for training or taking any tutorial.
However, I cannot Interpret notes, there was never even anytime that I learnt tonic solfa but I play every music I know fluently in such a way you'll think I'm a professional.
I want someone with my kind of experience to give me a piece of advice on what I need to do next or should I just believe that piano can be learnt without necessarily enrolling for tutorial.

Religion / Why Many Women Remain Unmarried Even At 28 – Mike Bamiloye by jpcomrade: 8:37am On Apr 25, 2023
Founder of Mount Zion Faith Ministries, Mike Bamiloye has disclosed reasons some women remain unmarried even at the age of 28.

According to the clergyman, many ladies nowadays “prepare more for the wedding day, than for the marriage life.”

Taking to his Instagram page on Monday, the thespian lamented the unwillingness of some young ladies to learn marriage principles.

Bamiloye also stressed that some women can’t cook a decent meal and would rather take to fast food and junks.

He said, “They [some ladies] are too hasty and not ready to sit down and learn the principles of marital life.

“Many ladies are not qualified to be wives even at 28.

“They can’t cook properly. They are used to fast food at the eateries and ice cream and indomie and spaghetti plus boiled eggs and Titus, and they spend six months studying the wedding gowns and the accessories for the bridal trails. And they want to marry.

Politics / What Will APC Mantra Be For 2023 General Election? by jpcomrade: 7:33pm On Jul 04, 2022
In 2015, the All Progressive Congress APC came up with a mantra that led to the end of sixteen years reign of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP,
change became the word that almost everyone believed would usher in a dispensation of hope, prosperity and better governance in the country, in 2019, many felt the time was short for the change mantra to yield expected dividends, hence the need to give the party another four years, subsequently another mantra came up - next level, another 3 years into the next level era, governance score card still falls below expectation going by the unimpressive prevailing economic, education, health, security etc realities in the country.
Now 2023 is around the corner and the campaign is here already, the party and its candidate is prepared again to fire on all cylinders, in your candid opinion what do you think the APC mantra will be this time and how will you describe the veracity of the mantra? will Nigerians fall for it again this time? let's hear your take.

Your candid advise is needed on wether to get a Pgd in a year or spend another 3 years to get a Bsc before proceeding for an Msc after 16 years of HND certificate, what is important here is to upgrade now that there is an opportunity to do so.
Your counsel would be so much appreciated without emphasizing on number of years of waiting, I'm still 40, so I can still achieve much academically. Thanks.

Education / What Is The Difference Between An Assistant And A Deputy by jpcomrade: 11:20am On Feb 05, 2016
Why do some institutions rank the post of an assistant as being lower to the post of a deputy, for instance in the Nigeria police, an assistant inspector general of police is a junior to a deputy inspector general of police, in Nigerian custom service, an assistant comptroller general is a junior to a deputy comptroller general whereas in the civil service, the next rank down the ladder to a Director is a deputy Director, I don't think there is anything like an assistant Director again, maybe the two words don't really mean thesame thing or could it be that the way military and para military organisations use them is what makes the difference? because in civil hierarchy when you have for example a Governor next is a deputy Governor, there is obviously nothing like an assistant Governor, when you have a manager, the next is either a deputy manager or an assistant manager, so now how do you categorise the two levels?

Celebrities / Hon. Patrick Obahiagbon Spoke On Xenophobic Attacks In South Africa. by jpcomrade: 6:20pm On Apr 21, 2015
A friend posted this on his time line on Facebook, please can somebody paraphrase, so as to understand the content of the comment.

"The attack on foreigners in South Africa (xenophobia) is a miasma of a deprecate apotheosis of a hemorrhaging Pluto crack, cascading oozing into a malodorous excresense of mobocracy. With all termagant ossifying proclivities of a kakistocracy, our knowledge centura is enveloped in a paraphlegic crinkum crankum. Therefore, the lampooning is cest in deja vu, deja vu peret ologomabia" Shared by C.V.Akuta, who is yet to understand the above quotation/words.
Politics / Asking For Forgiveness Not Cowardice-fayose by jpcomrade: 6:42pm On Apr 19, 2015
Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has said his asking for forgiveness should not be taken for cowardice by his opponents, saying his survival in office will be determined by God.
He said he took the steps to seek a genuine reconciliation with the All Progressives Congress whose 19 lawmakers of the Ekiti State House of Assembly plotting his impeachment in the interest of the state.

The governor spoke on Sunday at the thanksgiving service organised for him at the Cathedral Church of Emmanuel,  Anglican Communion, Ado Ekiti, to celebrate his recent electoral victory at the Supreme Court.
Meanwhile, the newly-elected lawmakers in Ekiti State have admonished the lawmakers to stop fanning the embers of chaos in the state, saying Ekiti people won’t allow the outgoing legislators to destroy the state before leaving office.

In a reaction, the APC lawmakers advised Fayose to stop inciting the people, saying his Sunday broadcast had demonstrated he was not committed to genuine reconciliation.
Fayose said, “I asked for forgiveness for reconciliation and to pursue genuine peace. Waiving the olive branch does not mean cowardice, it is for peace.
“Conspiracy is against God’s will. What better way could one seeks peace other than asking for forgiveness.”
The governor advised the APC to emulate President Goodluck Jonathan, who conceded defeat and saved Nigeria from the brisk of disintegration.
“When I contested Senatorial election, they said I lost and I did not fight anyone. I did not go to the tribunal and I was saying good things about the government then. The opposition should be courageous enough to accept defeat.  I follow Jonathan in and out of office. Jonathan gave up on the survival of Nigeria.  Jonathan prevented the prophecy that Nigeria would break in 2015.
“I’m enjoying the mandate of God through his people that cannot be controverted. My sin is because I allowed common man to breathe the air of hope.
“The people have spoken (governorship election), they said it was military intervention. They spoke the second term (presidential election), is that one photochromic? And they spoke again the third time (House of Assembly election).
“If God that gave me victory cannot defend me, I better go home. If the people cannot defend the mandate they gave to me, I better go home. Power doesn’t come from man. Power belongs to God. Anyone against the voice of God is following Satan’s way.”

Sports / Benitez Appointed As The New Napoli Coach by jpcomrade: 7:50am On May 28, 2013
The Spaniard, who recently had a seven-month stint at Chelsea, has been unveiled as the new boss of the Partenopei by the club president

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has confirmed Rafa Benitez as the club's new coach via Twitter.

The former Chelsea interim manager, who won the Europa League this season, is set to take over from Walter Mazzarri.

The 51-year-old recently left the Partenopei to join Inter after coach Andrea Stramaccioni was sacked for a disappointing ninth-placed finish this term.

De Laurentiis revealed through Twitter that he was delighted to land the 53-year-old.

He said: "Rafa Benitez is the new coach of Napoli. A man of great international experience. A leader."

The Spaniard has coached in Italy before, but endured an unsuccessful spell at Inter, lasting just six months after inheriting Jose Mourinho's treble-winning side.

The club released an official statement on their website saying: "Rafa Benitez is the new coach of Napoli. An agreement was signed [on Monday] in London.

"Napoli are happy to welcome a coach so prestigious to our own family. A welcome also to his collaborators."Source

Events / An Interesting History Of 1752 by jpcomrade: 8:35am On May 20, 2013
Here is an interesting historical fact. Just have a look at the calendar for the month of September 1752.
Go to Google type "September 1752 calendar"& see for yourself.
You will notice, 11 days are simply missing from the month.
Here's the explanation: This was the month during which England shifted from the Roman Julian Calendar to the Gregorian Calendar.
A Julian year was 11 days longer than a Gregorian year. So, the King of England ordered 11 days to be wiped off the face of that particular month.
So, the workers worked for 11 days less that month, but got paid for the whole month. That's how the concept of "paid leave" was born. Hail the King!!!
In the Roman Julian Calendar, April used to be the first month of the year; but the Gregorian Calendar observed January as the first month.Even after shifting to the Gregorian Calendar, many people refused to give up old traditions and continued celebrating 1st April as the New Year's Day. When simple orders didn't work, the King finally issued a royal dictum; which stated that those who celebrated 1st April as the new year's day would be labelled as fools.
From then on, 1st April became April Fool's Day. History is really interesting.

Sports / Sir Alex Ferguson's Goodbye Speech In Full by jpcomrade: 8:34pm On May 12, 2013
The 71-year-old manager gave an emotional talk on the Old Trafford pitch after his last game in charge of Manchester United at Old Trafford, which ended in a 2-1 win over Swansea

Sir Alex Ferguson said an emotional goodbye to Old Trafford after Manchester United's 2-1 win against Swansea on Sunday, thanking the fans for their support and imploring them to get behind successor David Moyes.

The record-breaking manager also said he will now be able to enjoy United games rather than "suffer with them", thanking fans, players and staff for their help.

With Paul Scholes also retiring from the club for a second time, Sir Alex praised the midfielder as one of the best players the club has ever had, and wished Darren Fletcher a speedy return to first-team football.

"I have absolutely no script in my mind. I'm just going to ramble on and hope I get to the core of what this football club means," Sir Alex said.

"This is a thank you to Manchester United. Not just the directors, not just the medical staff, the coaching staff, the players and supporters. It's all of you. This has been the most fantastic experience of my life. Thank you.

"I have been very fortunate that I've been able to manage to some of the greatest players in the country, let alone Manchester United. And all these players today have represented this club the proper way. They won the championship in fantastic fashion. Well done to the players.

"My retirement does mean the end of my life with the club. I'll now be able to enjoy watching them, rather than suffer with them. But, if you think about it, those last-minute goals, the comebacks, even the defeats are all part of this great football club of ours ... so thank you for that.

"I'd also like to remind you that when we had bad times at the club, all the staff stood by me, all the players stood by me. Your [the supporters] job now is to stand by your new manager.

"Before I start blubbing, I just want to speak to Paul Scholes, who retires today. He is unbelievable. One of the greatest players we've ever had and ever will ever.

"I also want to wish Darren Fletcher a speedy recovery and return to the club.

"I wish the players every success in the future You know how good you are, you know the jersey you're wearing and you know what it means to everyone here [at Old Trafford]. Don't ever let yourselves down. The expectation is always there."Source http://www.goal.com/en/news/article?contentId=3974049

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / How Is Howard Webb A Pro-manchester United? by jpcomrade: 8:12am On May 06, 2013
I'm a neutral lover of good football and I want to know why it is always assumed by some people that Howard Webb will always win matches for Man Utd against chelsea even when the formal does not play good football at all. However what i saw yesterday was the direct opposite of this assertion, is it that Howard Webb has backed off from supporting his team or some people just like to make excuses?
Politics / A Life Saving Initiative? by jpcomrade: 8:36pm On May 05, 2013
The Federal Road Safety Commission has just come out with the concept of “ICE”..Please read carefully, it may save your life or that of someone you know"We all carry our mobile phones with names & numbers stored in its memory. If we were to be involved in an accident or were taken ill, the people attending us would have our mobile phone but wouldn't know who to call. Yes, there are hundreds of numbers stored but which one is the contact person in case of an emergency? Hence this 'ICE' (In Case of Emergency) Campaign. The concept of 'ICE' is catching on quickly. It is a method of contact during emergency situations. As mobile phones are carried by the majority of the population, all you need to do is store the number of a contact person or persons who should be contacted during emergency under the name 'ICE' ( In Case Of Emergency). The idea was thought up by a paramedic who found that when he went to the scenes of accidents there were always mobile phones with patients but they didn't know which number to call. He therefore thought that it would be a good idea if there was a nationally recognized name for this purpose. In an emergency situation, Emergency Service personnel and hospital staff would be able to quickly contact the right person by simply dialling the number you have stored as 'ICE'. Please forward this. It won't take too many 'forwards' before everybody will know about this. It really could save your life, or put a loved one's mind at rest. For more than one contact name simply enter ICE1, ICE2 and ICE3 etc. PASS THIS AROUND TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE AS THIS CAN HELP IN AN EMERGENCY"
