Religion / Re: Did Micheal Jackson Die A Muslim by JPot: 9:25am On Aug 25, 2009
Muslims treated him like their own, but I don't know if he ever confessed their faith or not.

I know that his corpse made lots of money for the industry when they had his burial ceremony. That's all I know.
Religion / Re: Excuses Made For The Man Of The Cloth-are We Being Brainwashed? by JPot: 9:06am On Aug 25, 2009
As far as I know, had Peter not accused Ananias and his wife of lying they wouldn't have died. Had Jesus not touched or spoken people wouldn't have been healed.

I really don't know what the "right" decision was in Peter's situation. I kneel towards the side that murder is a last-option not a first-resort.

The Holy Spirit did "kill" Ananias and Sapphira at Peter's words, just as he did create the world at God's bidding. I won't resent that. Neither do I resent the fact that Father (who killed people) Jesus (who healed people) and the Holy Spirit (who did both) are part of one God Head.

I'm leaving God to judge whether or not Peter's vigorous move was acceptable or not.
Religion / Re: Why Do Christians Celebrate Birthdays? by JPot: 8:45am On Aug 25, 2009
Excuse me, Yes Mark didn't make any notice of Jesus birth. John did make notice of it, however in the spiritual realm of Jesus originating from God's Word.

I'll go correct my post now. TY huxley. grin
Religion / Re: Excuses Made For The Man Of The Cloth-are We Being Brainwashed? by JPot: 8:42am On Aug 25, 2009
Jesus never killed a man, he only healed people. So no, I think that Peter was being over-zealous at that point. Peter also cut off the ear of the high priest's assistant while in the Garden of Gethsemane.

Some people think that the apostles were perfect people, which they obviously weren't. Peter, just like us, was still maturing in faith.

In any case I'm not one to judge. God judges from above.
Religion / Re: Shocking: Daniel Curses Opponents In Church(rccg Parish) by JPot: 8:37am On Aug 25, 2009
Yeah politics and religion don't mix. It's like oil and water.

Jesus said "Love your enemies", not "curse your enemies and wish that they be sent to hell"
Religion / Re: Excuses Made For The Man Of The Cloth-are We Being Brainwashed? by JPot: 8:32am On Aug 25, 2009
Make note of the fact that it was Peter not Paul who killed the two persons.

Also make note that Peter and Paul died in humility not in a comfy gold-covered grave.

The money they made was distributed to widows and people in need. Just in case you didn't know that.
Religion / Re: Why Do Christians Celebrate Birthdays? by JPot: 8:28am On Aug 25, 2009
I laugh at all of your ramblings.

Almost all of the apostles made note of how Jesus came on the earth, and how he was born. We even read that the wise men came and gave PRESENTS to Jesus. They celebrated His birthday.

So why is it wrong to celebrate birthdays? Personally I don't know why. I think it is a good occasion to come together with friends and family to be happy about life, sing hymns to God, pray to God, and enjoy life like God made life to be enjoyed. God didn't say THOU SHALT NOT ENJOY LIFE. THOU SHALT NOT CELEBRATE. He made exceptions and listed out sins that shouldn't be committed when "enjoying life", but He never said it was wrong. Neither should we.

Think about it.

Yo I'm an apologist, a crazy one at that. And I agree. I've seen multiple threads here on Nairaland forum of people complaining about the outright, filthy, disrespectful robbing that is going on in churches in Nigeria.

I applaud you for your honesty, and recommend that you find a church where robbers are not exalted. Religion has been and always will be an over-abundant source of money (look at the Catholic Pope if you don't believe me). This happens mainly since pastors act as psychologists rather than the apostles they are called to be. They enter the business seeking money and fame, instead of seeking God.

Few churches remain where truth is preached, rather than entertainment. Few churches remain where spirit is discerned from carnal emotions. Few churches remain where pastors minister to God, rather than to themselves. But we few churches stand. We stand and await His coming.

Please come Jesus, take us out of this deceived and dirty pit.
Religion / Re: Did God Create Hell? by JPot: 7:45am On Aug 25, 2009
ps: There are instances in the bible when God walked and talked amongst men. . .and this is a contradiction because an entity that is supposedly omnipresent cannot at the same time be at a specific location.

What you just said is also contradictory. If something is omnipresent, it is at specific locations whilst at the same time being everywhere. How can something that is everywhere, not be in a specific location?

The question then is: Is God truly omnipresent? Is God in the same Hell that He created? Or does He willingly give up His right to be omnipresent in order to avoid evil?

I always thought that if God has something (eg: knowledge, love) He has it to the fullest extent possible. And if He doesn't have something, He has absolutely none of it (eg: blame, evil).

Due to His absolute purity God has denied Himself the right to omnipresence, choosing rather to stay in clean places. This does not belittle Him though, it only shows that He truly is potent enough to do anything that He chooses, even if it means giving up a piece of His universe to be a container for chaos.
Religion / Re: Do We Realy Need To Pray Before Traveling ? by JPot: 10:22pm On May 15, 2009
Prayer increases your chances of staying alive and well.

It doesn't guarantee that you'll have a shielded life.

Its like abstaining from drinking and driving. It doesn't guarantee that you'll stay alive. But your definitely much safer when you don't drink before driving.
Religion / Re: See How Religion Addles The Mind! by JPot: 10:18pm On May 15, 2009
Quite a redundant debate going on here, eh not?

Here's my take:

1) Pol Pot Motivated by military hatred and political greed

2) Amin Motivated by military hatred and political greed

3) John Calvin Son of Satan

4) The Crusaders Motivated by hatred for Arabs and monetary greed

5) The parents who refuse medical care from their children Stupid parents, taking religion to the extreme

6) Mother Teresa Kind hearted woman who was motivated by religion

7) The inquisitionists Greedy dirt bags

Make sense now?

"Catholics are irrelevant" ahem, since they didn't separate the state from the church. State eventually took over them, and pulled their strings like little puppets.

Religion / Re: Jesus, God And The Sham Sacrifice Of His Life by JPot: 9:38am On May 15, 2009
Suicide is death without return. Jesus returned.
Sacrifice is an ambiguous term, but it means giving something up.
Christians are sinners. Saved sinners who will stop sinning when they get new bodies in heaven.

What questions have gone unanswered?
Religion / Re: Join Now!,size Doesnt Matter In Satanism by JPot: 9:33am On May 15, 2009
Ogaga4Luv,

Do you believe there is a distinction between good and evil?
Or is it subjective?
And if so, is Satan good or evil?

This isn't a psycho question that I'll use against you. I'm just curious about what mindset *ahem* "Satanists" have.

-----
On a side note I highly doubt that you ever experienced the heart of Christianity. You keep on saying your Mom was baptist. That didn't make you one. And just because there are lots of thieves out there pretending to be Christians doesn't mean that Christianity is a facade. There truly is a dew of pure Christianity on this degrading earth. Christ hurry for your bride!
Religion / Re: What Tithe Really Means by JPot: 9:11am On May 15, 2009
Todak,

Sorry that I haven't read this entire thread, so I don't know whether or not you have gotten the message yet.

The matter of fact is that the tithe is from the Old Testament. Jesus says, "I give you a new testament love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, and soul. And love your brother as yourself." The Old Testament for the Jews is abolished.

This isn't to say that tithing is bad. Tithing is good for supporting the needs of the church, and seeing that you are most likely a pastor from Nigeria I see that funding is of great importance to you. But tithing is something done of free will, as a fruit of the Holy Spirit within us. Not something we do since we are under the law.

Heck if I had the money I wouldn't be ashamed of giving 90% of my gross salary to the feet of Christ. But its not because I'm obliged to do it. It is because I want to do it. I do it because I love Christ.

As for the rest of you. Beware of wolves in sheep skin. One sure sign: Rich pastor, poor church.
Religion / Re: Jesus, God And The Sham Sacrifice Of His Life by JPot: 8:37am On May 15, 2009
Jesus sacrificed time that he could have spent with God. Jesus tore Himself away from God for 3 days, He'll never get those 3 days back.

He also lost the opportunity of seeing sinners like us burn in hell.

He lost the comfort of heaven for 20 years, He'll never get that back.

He lost His honour, as it was displaced with humility time and time again on earth.

Mainly He lost His individuality, now He is the union of all Christians (the body, or church), rather than being only in unison with God and Holy Spirit.

If you think deep into it you can find alot of things He lost. The Crux was the great exchange, and a very painful one to that end.

Good post Cabeca, that means I agreed with most of it. cheesy

Allonym, can you please answer this one question:

Who has the bigger stick, you or God?

The core of all your arguments is I'M RIGHT AND GOD SUCKS. This is not so, actually most of the time its the other way around. God is ALWAYS right. Always true. Always good. Always just. If God made 3 billion people and sent them into something 3 times as bad as hell just for pleasure (notice that God doesn't do that), he would still be JUST. He is the standard, he sets the rules, regulations, all he does is commendable. God is God. "I am who I am."

Get it now? The real question isn't "Why did God make hell knowing people would end up there." The question is "Why did God make a place for us in heaven?" "Why did God tear himself apart (by sending Jesus into hell) so that I could be saved?"

Kill your pride, it will answer a bunch of questions that you have inside.
