Politics / The Beginning Of A New Political Era by Jsabigi1: 8:05am On Jan 11
THE BEGINNING OF A NEW POLITICAL ERA
The activities that preceded the 2015 General Elections in Nigeria saw the hope of many rose high, awaiting the emergence of the General, Muhammedu Buhari.
The candidacy of Muhammedu Buhari became an interesting topic as many saw him as a man to rescue the Nigerian State from the hands of Corruption.
Soon after his election and subsequently, swearing in; the man turned deaf ears to the cries of the people as well as blind eyes to the corruption of his Appointees.
Throughout his two terms in office, opposition parties and opinions were targeted in his over-claimed fight against corruption.
However, it appears a new era has been ushered in to the State affairs as the Presidency has so far shown concern and regards to public complains and opinions
It is no longer news that officials, infact, members of the president's cabinet are liable to suspension and investigation following results of investigations by media or interest groups in Nigeria.
As a neutral, who has nothing personal to benefit from the actions or inactions of the president regarding such weighty allegations, I find it worthy of commendation that such actions are taken.
For a government the needed to make the people believe, this is critical in pointing out the direction of the government.
Moreso, it may interest you to know that the Government of Ahmed Bola Tinubu has concrete structures in place to evaluate performances of his cabinet members, that too is commendable.
On a final note, regardless of our political affiliations, as long as our fights have been to see that the right thing is done, we have it upon ourselves a duty to commend good works done by public officers and as well condemn their wrongs.
In this case, BAT is certainly making the right calls at the right time, by this; IT IS BECOMING CRYSTAL CLEAR THAT WE ARE INTO A NEW POLITICAL ERA IN NIGERIA

Education / Re: Which City Has The Highest Number Of Universities In Nigeria? by Jsabigi1: 2:18pm On Nov 21, 2023
McPherson University is not in Abeokuta, it's located at Ajebo
IVORY2009:
The city with the highest number of universities in Nigeria is **Abeokuta** in Ogun State. Abeokuta has 8 universities, accounting for almost half (47%) of the total number of universities in the state. Here's a list of the universities in Abeokuta:

1. Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB)
2. Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU)
3. Moshood Abiola University of Science and Technology (MAUSTECH)
4. Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED)
5. Crescent University (CU)
6. Babcock University (BU)
7. Mountain Top University (MTU)
8. McPherson University (MU)

Abeokuta's concentration of universities can be attributed to several factors, including its strategic location, historical significance, and conducive environment for academic pursuits. The city is well-connected to major transportation hubs, making it accessible to students from across the country. Additionally, Abeokuta's rich cultural heritage and relatively peaceful atmosphere contribute to its appeal as a university town.

The presence of numerous universities has had a significant impact on Abeokuta's economy and social fabric. The influx of students and faculty has boosted local businesses and fostered a vibrant intellectual community. The city has also benefited from the contributions of these institutions in terms of research, innovation, and community engagement.

Overall, Abeokuta's position as the city with the highest number of universities in Nigeria reflects its commitment to education and its role as a hub for academic excellence in the country.

Politics / Niger Proposed Military Inversion: What Would Be Our Gain After All? by Jsabigi1: 4:32pm On Aug 04, 2023
The most awaited decision to invade the Niger Republic, a Sovereign State has been made by the Nigerian government led by Ahmed Bola Tinubu.
On the 4th August, 2023, the President of Nigeria wrote the Senate, seeking the INVERSION of Niger Republic, what he called; Military Intervention.
It is left to see whether the Nigerian Senate would approve the ill informed decision or not.
Meanwhile, before that happens, what do we stand to gain by invading our neighbours that we are so inseperable by people and geography?
Nigerians have passed through many hard times, ranging from persistent insecurities that have come to stay, economic regression that has become our identity and a leadership gap, which is about to show more evident than ever by the decision to invade an independent Country.
For the records, ECOWAS budget is funded 70% by Nigeria, despite our innumerable hardships.
Also, for the past few years, Boko Haram and Bandits have taken Nigerian Army Forces unaware and for granted without Nigerian forces hitting back. Sometimes the authorities revert to dialog in the face of the insurgency.
The Nigerian government have consistently complained of lack of resources to fund many projects that would have been of help to the Nigerian population.
How then, can we fund this needless War that should have and never happened?
The War, if it ever happens, would see a more divided Africa than there has been. The Coupists in Niger Republic have gained support both home and abroad with their neighbours; Burkina Faso, Mali, and Chad who are under Military rule making joint statement of support. Other supporters like Algeria and Russia are also warming up for actions.
By cutting power supplies to Niger, we have lost part of our Market, Niger may endure and find alternative ways but it might be too late for Nigeria to restore the market.
Moreso, Nigerians are spread all across the so called friendly nations of the Niger Republic, what would become of them should there be an escalation as warned by the governments of Burkina Faso, Mali and Chad?
This intention to invade an independent Country for their internal affairs is condemnable.
The most important and, indeed, the only thing that can yiled the expected results is dialog.
At the moment, Bola Ahmed Tinubu commands the Nigerian Army, not Nigerien Army.
In Niger, there's somebody at helm as the grand commander who could not be ordered as the ECOWAS may wish to within two weeks.
Politics / Re: What Has Democracy Offered Us That We Must Have To Defend It? by Jsabigi1: 11:51am On Aug 04, 2023
ElSudani:

You can always vote out a corrupt leader and there are layers of check and balances. The damage to the system is minimal compared with a corrupt military leadership.
We have seen it all over Africa, not a single military dictatorship has ever been able to turn around their country for the better.

You cannot always vote out a corrupt leader.
We have had a first hand experience in Nigeria so, people should stop pointing us to what does not exist.

Politics / What Has Democracy Offered Us That We Must Have To Defend It? by Jsabigi1: 11:15am On Aug 04, 2023
The wave of Military Coups in Africa in recent years, particularly the French former Colonies is a call for concern.
However, the most recent Coup in Niger Republic has waken the World up and, the ECOWAS is at the heart of a historical mistake that might be impossible to recover from.
Threats to Niger to avert to Democratic governance after the Coup begs for the question of what exactly has Democracy offered us that is so valuable to defend.
THE PACKAGE OF DEMOCRACY IN NIGERIA
Democracy is rooted on the motions of
1. Periodic elections to allow citizens voice and checks on Government.
2. Open Market policy
3. Human right
4. Accountability
5. Separation of power and,
6. Other numerous assertions.
In Africa, the essence of Democracy is to open up the African society to allow for Mass harvest of natural resources and the sales of industrial goods from the West.
To this end, Democracy in Africa does not include;
1. Electoral credibility as long as it satisfies the West.
2. The right to life as over 200 citizens could be murdered without government's condemnation.
3. Good governance
4. Economic prosperity for the poor.
The right to quality healthcare
5. The right to quality education.
6. The right to human dignity
7. Developing the society.
8. The right against corruption.
This is evident what we have seen and felt as Africans.
So, why should we defend democracy with our Lives?
