His administration's decision to reduce electricity tariffs by 23.4% is a bold step towards economic empowerment, and it's heartening to see the people of Enugu reaping the benefits.

Former presidential aspirant, Chief CBN Onwusoanya Ezendigbo has lauded the unwavering commitment of Chief Chekwas Okorie towards nation-building and deepening of current democratic process in Nigeria.

This is coming as Okorie convened meeting of Igbo political leaders and elites to discuss the mobilization of people of Igbo nation for the 2027 elections and beyond.

In a statement made available to journalists on Saturday, Onwusoanya commended chekwas okorie for his genuine passion and steadfastness in projection of interest of the igbo nation as it concerns political leadership of the country.

He lauded the current efforts by the igbo leader in mobilizing people of the southeast for the 2027 elections and beyond regardless of of political party affiliation.

The ex- presidential aspirant sued for unity among ndigbo to enable the Igbo ethnic-nationality get it right in the coming election and remains relevance in the nation's scheme of things.

Onwusoanya lamented that economic deterioration, insecurity, poverty and infrastructural decadence ravaging the country has hindered the effort to attain greatness, and also be among the comity of advanced countries in the world.

He pointed out that Nigeria has abundant natural resources and the needed manpower to tackle myriads of problems bedeviling her, regretting that successive governments in the country have failed to show capacity and willpower towards solving socio-economic and infrastructural crisis ravaging the most populous black nation in the world.

The southeast chieftain called on governments of the day to pay attention on decaying infrastructures adorning every parts of the country and take decisive action in refixing these essential amenities to enhance economic development and human welfares across the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria.

Onwusoanya also tasked federal and states government on impactful policy implementation to enhance health and education sectors in Nigeria.

He regretted that citizens can no longer accessible government-owned general hospital for medical treatments due to lack of drugs, and non-availiablity of basic medical equipments, and backlogs of salaries owed to doctors in various states in the country

"Our education system has collapsed. Most of these critical infrastructures have decayed in our schools. Welfare of teachers and lecturers are not be taken care of. And these are caused by lack of visionary leadership by present generational leaders, whom most of them had resorted to siphoning taxpayer's money for personal jamborees, than to render services to the people that elected them into offices,"Onwusoanya stated.

While earlier emphasizing on unity of purpose among ndigbo, Onwusoanya Ezendigbo who is also the founder of Better Life for Better Peoples, a non-governmental organisation, called on critical stakeholders from the southeast to emulate sterling leadership qualities of Chief Chekwas Okorie, and join hands with him in charting wayforward for the Igbo nation as it concern political leadership of the country.

The pursuit of dominance is a complex and multifaceted phenomenon, manifesting in various forms throughout human history. From the mighty empires of old to the modern-day power struggles, humans have consistently sought to assert their dominance over others. Enugu, Nigeria – The National Deputy Chairman (South) of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Professor Nick Ezeh (Ugoeze Enugu State), has raised alarm over Nigeria’s worsening security situation, urging youths to become more vigilant and actively support government efforts in tackling insecurity across the nation.

Speaking in Enugu, the capital of Enugu State, at the PCRC Youth Conference themed “The Police: Bridging the Gap”, Prof. Ezeh described the current state of national security as a “quagmire,” stressing that a collaborative effort between the police and the citizenry, especially the youth, is crucial to addressing the challenge.

He hailed the timing of the conference, which focused on critical issues like drug abuse, cultism, and gangsterism — vices he said are steadily eroding the nation’s moral fabric and threatening peace in communities.

Professor Ezeh also urged participants to freely interact and share their experiences, emphasizing the need to “know where the shoe pinches.” He encouraged young people to partner with the police by providing credible information and resisting the temptation to take laws into their own hands.

The purpose of our visit was twofold: to brief him on the upcoming PCRC Youth Conference, themed *"Bridging the Gap between the Youth and the Police," scheduled for June 26th, 2025, at the Superior Police Officers Mess, Uwani, Enugu*, and to formally invite him as the Royal Father of the Day for the groundbreaking event.

His wise counsel and paternal guidance underscored the importance of this conference in building a better understanding between law enforcement agencies and the youth.

The Rescue Movement's Imo State Chapter inauguration was a grand success, filled with interaction, happiness, and a renewed sense of purpose. The Director General, Ugwu Martins Chiedozie, addressed the audience, outlining the movement's ideology centered on spreading wealth and egalitarian doctrine. According to him, the movement's mission is to build a new Nigeria, driven by Nigerians, for Nigerians.

Inagurating the Imo chapter, the DG highlighted the movement's excellent outing in the last election, where they handed the Labour Party presidential ticket to Peter Obi after relinquishing their candidature for the sake of peace and harmony. He recounted the marathon negotiation at Orchid Hotel, Asaba, which lasted over 8 hours. Despite being the first to buy the Labour Party presidential form and injecting life into the party, the movement withdrew their candidate, Faduri Joseph, to support Obi's candidacy.

The DG emphasized that the Rescue Movement is poised to shape Nigeria's party politics come 2027 with innovative concepts and styles never practiced before in the country's electioneering history. With this vision, the movement is determined to make a lasting impact, working tirelessly to spread its ideology across the country. According Comrade Ugwu, "The Rescue Movement is committed to building a new Nigeria, where wealth is spread equitably, and everyone has access to opportunities. To navigate this complex landscape, it's essential to define two key terms: spirituality and religion. Spirituality refers to the universal human experience of seeking connection with something greater than ourselves, often characterized by feelings of awe, wonder, and transcendence. Religion, on the other hand, encompasses the organized systems of beliefs, practices, and rituals that aim to facilitate spiritual connection.

Throughout human history, the pursuit of spiritual truth has yielded a multitude of enduring questions. How did humanity arrive at a juncture where countless churches and faiths, established by human hands, assert their claim to absolute truth? What forces propelled the violent and brutal imposition of Western religions on indigenous cultures and traditions, particularly in Africa?

A glance at history reveals the darker aspects of human nature. Western Christianity/religion facilitated the transatlantic slave trade, colonialism, and imperialism, imposing its beliefs on African societies. This brutal suppression of native spiritual practices, destruction of sacred sites, and erasure of cultural heritage were justified under the guise of "civilizing" the "heathen." The legacy of this painful history continues to haunt us, leaving deep scars: fractured identities, flawed governance, and a lack of clear understanding about life, as well as disrupted spiritual practices that still impact African communities worldwide.

Today, we are left with a dizzying array of religious options, each claiming to possess the ultimate truth. The proliferation of churches, denominations, and sects has created a spiritual marketplace, where faith is often reduced to a consumer choice. We are forced to confront the uncomfortable reality that many of these religious institutions are, in fact, human constructs, designed to exert control, manipulate power, and accumulate wealth.

And yet, amidst this chaos, we find a glimmer of hope. For beneath the trappings of dogma and creed, there lies a deeper, more discerning reality – a reality that speaks to the universal human experience of awe, wonder, and connection to something greater than ourselves. This is the realm of the spiritual, a domain that transcends the boundaries of religion and speaks to our very essence.

As we look to the future, we must acknowledge that the religions of our time will, like those of the past, eventually give way to new interpretations and perspectives. In a million years or less, new faiths will emerge, bearing little resemblance to those of our time. But the question remains: will we continue to mistake the human constructs of religion for the deeper, spiritual reality that underlies all existence?

The LOBITO CORRIDOR, a brainchild of Western powers, appears to be a calculated move to undermine the progress made by African nations. By promoting an alternative corridor, the West seeks to:

1. Divert investment: By creating a rival corridor, the West aims to siphon off investments from the existing Pan-African projects, thereby slowing down their progress.

“The true measure of a society is not in its temples, but in its schools”

In the heart of Enugu state, Aku Diewa community to be precise, a disturbing phenomenon has emerged. This jarring paradox exposes the dark underbelly of religious fervor, where moral responsibility is sacrificed at the altar of spiritual grandeur. Amidst the proliferation of grand church buildings, once-thriving educational institutions in the town lie in ruins, victims of misplaced priorities. This stark contrast raises fundamental questions about the true value of faith and moral responsibility.

Aku Diewa, renowned for its intellectual brilliance and professional excellence, boasts an impressive array of church buildings, erected in record time including the demolition of the very primary school I attended without rebuilding it, to give way to a parish house built under few months. Meanwhile, the remaining structure in same premises remain in waste with dilapidated building and leaking roof, this suppose to be a structure where future generations are molded but remain abandoned by these same church goers who sees this structure every Sunday. This is not an isolated incident; over a dozen public schools in the area including the three secondary schools (public) suffer similar neglect.

The Aku Civic Center, Obarazu, intended as a symbol of community unity, remains unfinished after decades. In stark contrast, parish buildings and churches rise swiftly built by same sons and daughters of the community, as if competing for dominance. This striking contradiction demands an urgent answer: What is the true purpose of faith when moral responsibility is neglected?

This trend is not unique to Aku Diewa. In this part of the world, commodification of faith has led to the prioritization of religious growth over community needs. The erosion of moral accountability allows individuals and institutions to focus on spiritual appearance over substance.

The fallout from this conflicting priority are far-reaching. Abandoned schools symbolize decay and neglect, serving as stark reminders of our misplaced priorities. Future generations suffer as education is relegated to secondary importance, depriving them of the foundation necessary for success. Furthermore, the intellectual heritage of entire communities is undermined, as the value of knowledge and critical thinking is diminished.

To reclaim our moral compass, we must rebalance priorities, recognizing education as a cornerstone of community development. Harnessing collective intellect to address pressing social issues and cultivating faith that inspires moral responsibility, rather than mere religiosity, is crucial.

As we observes this cautionary tale, we are reminded of the saying that: "The true measure of a society is not in its temples, but in its schools."

Let us reexamine our priorities and strive for a balanced approach to faith and community development. The future of our youth and the integrity of our societies depend on it. Before we build another church or parish house, let's not forget that the future of our children remain jeopardized in that dilapidated school building and absence of classrooms for their learning.

To this end, the questions we should be reflecting on are, how can we reconcile religious convictions with moral responsibility?, What role should education play in community development? How can faith inspire positive change, rather than mere grandeur and lastly, If we took initiative to build our own worship centers without waiting for external aid from Rome or G. O, why then do we wait for government intervention to renovate or equip our schools - the very foundations shaping our children's futures?

A look at the tumultuous landscape of African history, you will see that violence has often been the catalyst for revolution. Yet, time and again, we've witnessed the devastating aftermath of such upheavals, leaving nations poorer, more impoverished, and further entrenched in the quagmire of despair. The cries of liberation and freedom have repeatedly given way to the harsh realities of chaos, destruction, and suffering.

As we gaze upon the ruins of violence-fueled revolutions, we must confront the stark truth: the masses always bear the brunt of the devastation. The innocent suffer, the vulnerable are exploited, and the future is mortgaged to the whims of power-hungry factions. The promised land of liberation remains an elusive dream, as the cycle of violence perpetuates itself, fueled by the very same grievances it sought to address.

In Nigeria, the drums of violent revolution beat louder, with some hailing it as the sole means to radical change. But we must not be swayed by the siren song of destruction. We must not forget the lessons of our troubled past, nor ignore the wisdom of our ancestors, who knew that true strength lies not in the shedding of blood, but in the power of the human spirit.

The ideal revolution is not one of violence, but of the mind. It is a revolution of values, of ideas, of collective purpose. It is a revolution that seeks to uplift, to empower, and to transform, rather than to destroy.
