Just look at how clean those shacks look compared to the mud house you were comparing them to. I'd rather live in one of those than a molehill disguised as a house. #2 is actually very nice & creative smiley
there are plans to replace those shacks with sandbag buildings, developed by this dude here - Luyanda Mpahlwa (Architect). I met him at the design conference (design indaba) in capetown - 2008. The project was started at the eastern cape - freedom town(see pix), but with this horrible zuma govt, don't know if they continued. Each unit cost 50,000RAND as at then. Even the beneficiaries were helping with the building. was so easy and effective and the resultant structures were beyond good. Dude had stars from hollywood placing contracts to get sandbag buildings done by him.

don't mind ignorant ranters wey full nigeria, people without experience. I have a neighbour with a 13 year old daughter, when strangers come to the compound and run into her, their first response is 'goodday ma!'.... it always leaves me in stitches grin grin grin grin

a friend of mine came to look for me and she was the one that opened the gate for him, as they were playing outside. When he was leaving, he was surprised when the girl greeted me with 'afternoon sir' and i responded non-chalantly with.. 'make sure you people don't break any windows with all these noise you guys are making o'... my friend was taken aback cheesy and he was like 'why you dey talk to am like dat, na joke?' When he saw the confusion on my face, he now told me how he had greeted the girl with 'goodday ma!' earlier when he came through the gate. I couldn't stop laughing, he nearly fainted out of embarrassment when i told him that the girl was just a JSS3 student! grin grin grin

these type of nigerians are the type that will get in trouble in places like the US, where 12 year olds look like they are 28... guys will go and toast and get caught by police! grin grin grin grin
Crime › Re: Man Dragged By Police Van In Edo: Police Issues Statement (Photos) by judgedredd22(m): 1:56pm On May 18, 2017
itsdumebi:
The Nigerian police force has issued a statement about a viral video showing a crime suspect that was handcuffed to a police van. It was widely reported that the van driven by police officers was used to drag the suspect around before the video was taken.

A statement signed by the assistant commissioner of police, Abayomi Shogunle detailed the series of event that occurred on the day of the incident.

It reads;

The Public Complaint Rapid Response Unit (PCRRU) has initiated an investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident including the police operations that led to the viral video showing a suspect handcuffed to a stationary police patrol vehicle in Benin-City, Edo State on Sunday 14th May 2017.

It is important to state that there is no frame in the 1:34" video in circulation on various social media platforms that shows anyone being dragged by a police patrol vehicle as insinuated.

Preliminary investigations reveal that on Sunday 14.05.2017 at about 9:30 am, the Police at Esigie Division in Benin-City, Edo state received an information regarding congregation of suspected cultists in preparatory to the commissioning of a felony. Based on the information, a police team was dispatched to the scene where two male persons were arrested while others took to their heels. Upon searching the suspect seen handcuffed to the vehicle in the video, Indian hemp and cocaine were found on him. Both arrested suspects were then taken into the patrol vehicle and secured accordingly to prevent escape during transportation to the Police station. At a point along Sopkonba Road, Benin-City, a crowd tried to prevent the free passage of the patrol vehicle transporting the suspects. In the process, one of the suspects (one seen in the video) tried to escape by jumping off the back of the open pick-up patrol van but was restrained by the handcuff attaching him to the vehicle. A reinforcement was called and the suspects were eventually taken to the station.

Both arrested suspects including the one seen in the video (on the Right in photo below) are the ones in the attached photo, there is no sign of bodily injury on them.

Members of the public that witnessed the incident or with information other than what is already in public domain should please turn up at the Office of the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 5 Benin-City where detailed investigations are ongoing into the circumstances surrounding events that led to the video and allegations made therein.

The Nigeria Police Force under IGP Ibrahim Idris NPM, mni is determined to ensure that rights of every suspect is protected at all times. The public is assured that proven case of abuse of powers any police officer(s) would attract sanctions.

As we await the outcome of the investigations by AIG Zone 5 Benin-City, members of the public are enjoined to always cooperate with Nigeria Police Force units as police officers are out to ensure protection of lives and properties.

Pre-eclampsia is a VERY SERIOUS life threatening ailment that poses a significant risk to the life of mother and baby therefore should be attended to with urgency.
Keeping a patient with Pre-eclampsia for more than 24hrs without treatment is tantamount to manslaughter! !! Most definitely negligence and in my world, you will not only loose your medical licence to practice you ll also be looking at a referral to the CPS for criminal charges
Maternal mortality is very high in Nigeria and a large contributing factor is negligence and the itk/inability to listen to patients by doctors/nurses as well as the ability to learn from mistakes AND the stupid risks that doctors often take with patients lives

am amazed at the number of educated illiterates our useless educational system has raised. 98% of the remarks here allude to some spiritual factor as the only possible cause of the accident. this is an alarming situation Nigeria has found itself. am shocked no one has even asked how the accident happened? who was driving? which vehicle? how is the person's driving experience? how exactly did it happen? etc. I shake my head

Hmmm...call me superstitious but I suspect witchcraft is involved. May their souls rest in peace.

This story actually reminds me of a girl that used to rent a room at my sister's house. She graduated one December, went home for the holidays & died on the 2nd week of January. The story we heard from her brother is that she went to town on the afternoon & got a call to come for a job interview on a specific date. She got home, found her mom sitting with a neighbour outside & she excitedly shared the news with them. Later that evening they say she complained of a headache. They sent the brother to go buy her Grandpa (a headache powdery substance). The brother said when he returned, she was much worse & was hallucinating. They called the ambulance, but sadly she died on the way to hospital. The postmortem results came back saying a vein in her head ruptured. What a coincidence for her to have a ruptured vein on the day she got that fateful call undecided
there is nothing related to juju or superstition in the case, it was blood pressure from over excitement that ruptures the vein... the same thing that kills men on top of women, sudden rise in blood pressure will do that and when the vein can't withstand the pressure, it gives up - just like your regular water pipe that can't take water pressure and bursts open! people should stop being ignorant and learn instead of ascribing everything to superstition and juju!

She obviously was anxious and excited about the new prospects which led to the situation and most probably she had and underlying condition that she was not aware of.
