Watch National Assembly plenary sections for example, let's say a bill on child rights is been discussed, you'll find a lot of green or red seats empty. But when a bill like say 'senators can change parties' is tabled, you'll find a full-noisy house. In a whole week you don't hear anything on roads, power, jobs, health from them, but you always hear things like 'Jonathan moves to block Amechi' this fraction that fraction, I don't know how this helps the economy. What do you think?
CrimeSwaziland Aviation Authorities Warn Witches Against Flying Too High by julimax(op): 7:23am On May 15, 2013
Unbelievable! And we say there is drama in Naija.

Swaziland has launched a crackdown on high-flying witches after banning them from hovering above 150metres.

It has been a long time since witches were burnt at the stake in Europe but the accusation remains a serious one in the landlocked African country.

Anyone caught flying their broomstick above the height limit faces arrest and a hefty R500,000 fine, the country’s civil aviation authorities said this week.

‘A witch on a broomstick should not fly above the [150-metre] limit,’ corporate affairs director Sabelo Dlamini told The Star.

The new aviation law was highlighted after a private investigator was caught flying a helicopter equipped with a video camera to gather surveillance information.

Witchcraft is taken seriously in Swaziland where many people believe in the power of black magic.

Last year a leading Swazi MP called for a hike in tax paid by witch doctors to help ease the cash-strapped country’s financial woes.

but not for transport.

CrimeMan Handed 45-year Prison Term For Stealing Governor Aregbesola’s Phone by julimax(op): 10:10am On Apr 30, 2013
http://dailypost.com.ng/2013/04/30/man-handed-45-year-prison-term-for-stealing-governor-aregbesolas-phone/

The long hands of the law has finally caught up with 31-year-old Kelvin Ighodalo who was sentenced to 45 years imprisonment by an Osogbo High Court in Osun State for stealing a N50,000 Sony Ericsson phone, belonging to Governor Rauf Aregbesola.

DailyPost has gathered that Ighodalo stole the phone from Aregbesola’s pocket on November 27, 2010, when the Governor was being inaugurated at Government Technical College, Osogbo.

The Presiding Judge, Justice Oyejide Falola, who presided over the case, found Ighodalo guilty on a six count charge, part of which include conspiracy, stealing and fraud.

He sentenced the accused to 10 years imprisonment for the first three counts and five years for each of the last three which include, impersonation, obtaining property by falsehood and collusion.

He however noted that the jail term, will run concurrently, meaning that Ighodalo will spend the next 10 years behind bars.

He said the convict deserve the jail term, emphasising that the convict used the phone to obtain N500, 000 from the Owa of Ilesa, Oba Adekunle Aromolaran, and also obtained N200, 000 from Mr Shengen Rahman, an associate of the Governor.

It was also revealed by the Assistant principal, state counsel, Mr Biodun Badiora in court that the convict had served a six years prison term at the Ikoyi prison in connection with a murder case in 2005.

Counsel to Ighodalo, Mr. Ameachi Ngwu, prayed the court to commit him to community service, stressing that the convict should not be incarcerated but rather be placed where people could see him as a convict.

God forbid though, but if you have to choose any of these obstacles to survive from, which will it be? An armed robbery attack with the shock. potential rape but they will be taking only what they see on you at the moment. If you don't get shot. Or a kidnap expirience where you'll be forced to empty your account or sell properties to save a child or grandmother from abductors. Which is fairer?

Christianity EtcPope Francis Washes Prisoners' Feet On Maundy Thursday by julimax(op): 9:59pm On Mar 28, 2013
Pope Francis has washed the feet of prisoners in a youth detention centre near Rome as part of the Maundy Thursday service.

The Christian ritual takes place on the Thursday before Easter to commemorate Christ's Last Supper.

Thousands of pilgrims and tourists are arriving in Rome to attend ceremonies during the holy week ahead of Easter.

In a homily, the Pope earlier urged priests to do less "soul-searching" and engage more with parishioners.

"It is not in soul-searching... that we encounter the Lord," he told hundreds of cardinals, priests and bishops in St Peter's Basilica.

"We need to go out... to the outskirts where there is suffering, bloodshed, blindness that longs for sight and prisoners in thrall to many evil masters."

Worshippers should "leave Mass looking as if they had heard good news", he added.

Gesture of humility
During Thursday's intimate service at Casal del Marmo, the Pope washed and kissed the feet of 12 young detainees to replicate the Bible's account of Jesus Christ's gesture of humility towards his 12 apostles on the night before he was crucified.

The 12 inmates included two girls, one Italian Catholic and one of Serbian Muslim origin, local prison ombudsman Angiolo Marroni said ahead of the ceremony.

Some of the prisoners volunteered to have their feet washed, while others were given an invitation to help them overcome their embarrassment, the Catholic News Agency quoted the prison chaplain as saying.

The pontiff told inmates that Jesus had washed the feet of his disciples in a gesture of service, Vatican Radio reported.

After the ritual, Pope Francis gave Communion to the inmates and prison workers.

In total, around 10 girls and 40 boys from different nationalities and diverse religious confessions were taking part in Thursday's Mass.

The new leader of the world's 1.2 billion Roman Catholics has brought a new sense of simplicity to the Vatican, reports the BBC's David Willey in Rome.

He has broken with tradition for the foot-washing ceremony, which is normally performed on lay people in one of Rome's basilicas.

Pope Benedict XVI visited the Casal del Marmo centre in 2007, but not for the Holy Thursday Mass. Only for the first two years of his pontificate did he perform the feet-washing himself, after which the task was delegated to priests.

Easter is the most important festival in the calendar of the Catholic Church.

On Good Friday evening the Pope will carry a wooden cross and pray at a ceremony at Rome's ancient amphitheatre, the Colosseum, commemorating Jesus' crucifixion.

On Saturday evening Pope Francis will celebrate the main Easter Vigil Mass in St Peter's Basilica.

And on Easter Sunday morning, the new Pope will deliver his first "Urbi et Orbi" message to the city of Rome and to the world.

During his inaugural general audience on Wednesday, Pope Francis called for an immediate political solution to the conflict in the Central African Republic after last weekend's coup.

I was just 17 then when i went with my friend to check up on a girl in the next street. when we got to her gate we sent her little brother to call her and tell her where to meet us at the end of the street. back then, no GSM so it was pretty hard. As we waited for her at a cool spot, unknown to us the little boy went to report us to their mother. As we waited, the woman, accompanied by her two sons (much older than us maybe in their 20s) walked into where we were chilling and asked 'So na una dey find Jenifer, na una dey come disturb my daughter abi? O boy, we were stunned. No escape route and she didn't even allow us to talk. She had already gathered the street with her shouting and she ordered his sons to beat us up. Luckily for us her sons were understanding and told her go back to the house, that they would take care of us. They escorted us out of there but told us to run, they even advised us the see their sister in school instead of coming to the house. We escaped that day but i never forgot about that embarrassment on top woman matter. Is there any Guy that has not gone through any?

Chinese Firm to Build Four Airport Terminals in Nigeria

12 Mar 2013

By Chinedu Eze

Top Chinese construction company that built the world’s biggest airport in China, Beijing Capital International Airport, would start the construction of four airport terminals in Lagos, Abuja, Kano and Port Harcourt in June, 2013.

This was disclosed Monday by the Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), George Uriesi, at the opening of the restaurant chain, Things Remembered, at the General Aviation Terminal of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

The construction of the terminals by the Chinese company was part of the agreement reached between the world’s most populous country and the Federal Government when the latter took a loan for the construction of the terminals.

Uriesi said after the initial agreement last year, government officials have been doing the paperwork to work out the details of the agreement before the commencement of work by the Chinese construction company this June.

Last year, the Federal Government and Chinese investors reached an agreement that China would provide loan for the country to build state-of-the-art terminals at the four major airports in Nigeria.

The projects, THISDAY learnt, were planned to be completed before the end of this administration and the terminals would not only meet international standards but also rival the best in the world, according to Uriesi.

Although the terms of agreement reached between the government and the investors were not made public, it was gathered that it would be on build, operate and transfer (BOT) arrangement.

The prototype of the terminal has already been obtained and the Federal Government has agreed to provide free land for the project at the four airports, and because of the expected expanse of the terminal at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, it would be built a distance away from the existing international terminal at the airport, but would share the same runway.

FAAN Managing Director also said the agency would soon upgrade power supply in all the airports in the country, but would start Independent Power Project (IPP) that would be powered by gas for the Lagos airport.

He said in the next few weeks the new power generation plants that were almost completed would be inaugurated, disclosing that out of the six generators the airport would need only two, while the rest would be on standby.

He added that the power plants could supply electricity to the whole airport and beyond.

Uriesi also said FAAN has adopted a new way of doing business and is fully guided by international business precepts, stating that before a private investor is allowed to establish any business or build facilities at any of the nation’s airports, the investor must meet strict conditions and must be backed by a bank that would provide credit facility for such projects.

He said the number of highly placed persons intending investors know cannot influence FAAN’s decisions because the agency has to adopt international standards of doing business at the airports.

“We are doing things right now and we are doing the right thing. Any deal that we strike with anybody will be done as they are done in other parts of the world. The business expectations are clear, the criteria are clear unlike in the past.

“We are not doing anything for a person but for Nigerians, we are not going to do anything with anybody unless we have evidence from the banks that they are funding the project and the money is there, from the day you sign and the day you start construction is six months, if you don’t start within that period, the thing falls away,” Uriesi said.
