I was chatting with someone in Brasilia he was explaining the process he kept referring to it as a family reunion visa I come confuse Lemme quote his msg is this how the process works?
Yes the id-document and RNM is the same thing and proof that you have a resident permit in the country. At first, when the application is filed you will receive a protocol of the RNM but you are already in possession of the visa from the moment of the filing. Then it takes around 3 months for the RNM card to arrive.
@Adjo10 Feliz anos novo I wanted to know applying for a permanent residence is it different from applying for a family reunion visa in Brazil.. They both very similar
alien1: You have a great chance of securing a visa if you have travel history. Take a trip to Ghana then to Dubai via Ethiopia or Kenya airlines (visa on arrival )(with 500k) you can do this and return to naija before you apply for any first world country visa to avoid denial. Take it from someone whose visa has been denied 4 times When you return you can now apply for the main country of your choice. What you have is enough to make it out of this country. Don't pay agent, this are things you can do online yourself

Truly one needs to prepare properly for an extended stay cos having to pay monthly rent for additional months after spending ur budget on childbirth and to do all these without working or having access to public funds na to rush the next flight to MMA2 after collecting the baby's passport o! PR should wait before person 'je gbese'
Yea you can also use their free health care and divert the money into other important areas too.. by hustling for the PR you will Definitely overstay the visa so who knows if they'll give you next time? One just has to prepare this is not just "BIRTHING" except it's just abt the baby
MrBrownJay1: bro i wish i could but i have very little knowledge on the procedure... i am sure you could get a cheap translation and have it stamped in a cartorio though.... anything "legal" in Brazil has to go via a cartorio (like a notary office) so you might be able to bypass the "authorized translator" by having a cheaper translator (from an English speaking country).... and get it notarized afterwards. who knows?

What do you mean by that?
By being unprepared were they supposed to come with so documents or money or test or report, etc?
By being unprepared maybe they where on a budget so you can't stay if you're going broke already.. They didn't have some documents in hand etc

Adjo10: Good question. Naturalization requires you to have PR. The only exception is if you have lived here continuously for 15 years. Applying for PR requires you to provide specific documents, translations and legalisation. If not well prepared, this can take you an eternity. So ultimately, you are delaying your naturalization process by delaying your PR. Note that, the number of years required for you to naturalized starts from the date you receive your PR card and not from the day to entered Brazil.
Secondly, after PR there is a language requirement to naturalization. If you don’t plan well, you will spend 10 years here without getting to the required level for naturalization.
You talked about the legalization but That translation part how does it work we're hearing that for the first time..
Adjo10: Thanks. I just watched the video and applaud him for his selfless act of trying to give information that many of our Africans brothers and sisters have but refuse to share. This is not to say that i endorse him nor claim every info he gives is correct or wrong. People have different source of information and different perspectives. We should all be opened to learning something new.
Back to the issue. I am not all knowing and in fact, i don’t know much. However most information i post here is a combination of official sources (Policia Federal which is like the immigration office), an aggregate of my own personal experience and that of my friends who gave birth here. I just checked again the immigration website which is in charge of receiving and processing PR applications to be sure what I’m saying is in accordance with the law. Trust me, unlike back home, they update info on their website by the minute. I can confirm that so far as the law is concerned, there is no requirement to submit proof of funds nor work contract for PR based on a Brazilian Child.
That said, the law allows immigration officers to ask for additional documents based on their observations during the filling process. So if you show up for your PR applications dressed and looking like a person who has nothing to eat and just wants to get a PR to take social benefits, then you may have the immigration officer asking you for funny documents lol.
In summary, most people who are genuinely in Brazil to contribute to the development of the country will not be required to show such funny documents. You are treated the way you present yourself. Cheers

Adjo10: Per the new naturalization law the language requirement can be met in one of the following ways:
1. a CELPE-Bras certificate (the Brazilian government Portuguese language exams). To get a certificate, one much write the exam and get a minimum score equivalent to about 6 months full time 4-5 hours a day of language school attendance. Assuming you start from 0 knowledge in Portuguese.
2. A language certificate from a Portuguese course in a Brazilian institution designed for foreigners thus “the Portuguese for foreigners “ course offered in most Brazilian universities and i think private language schools in Brazil. I’m not sure about the private school part. Also for around 6 months (Starting from 0).
3. Certificate from any other institution in or outside Brazil. This is where your question comes in. I have no clue which institutions in or outside Brazil fall into this category. Absolutely no idea. Sorry...
I took mine for free as a PR holder. I have no idea how much it will cost. I will let us know if i come across such info. The only thing i heard about it is that it is expensive. I think because that is what most foreigners who want to study Portuguese in Brazil use to secure their student visas. (Americans and other Westerners). They have money lol

Cool so with your PR you just walk into any University of choice and apply for free amazing.. About 2m should be enough for a family of 3 to settle for a while learning the language a little before you start job hunting I guess Adjo10 here is the link to the vlog please watch
Adjo10: How fast you learn the language depends on your ability to learn new languages, your purpose of learning it and how motivated and committed you are to it. If Citizenship is your target then 6 months intensive language classes that is 4-5 hours class a day at a Brazilian university is enough. Come with some money with you so you don’t go out looking for work the moment you land instead dedicate 6 months to taken classes. Before 2019, the Naturalisation process required everyone to take a Portugese exam organized by the Brazilian government. This used to delay people’s ability to apply for citizenship early because this exam was organized only twice a year and it was not easy to get a place in the exam so people had to wait for years before sitting the exam but thank God this exam requirement is no more needed from around Feb 2019. Instead showing that you took the Special “Portuguese for foreigners course” in a Brazilian university for 6 months is enough. It’s cost a lot of money to take this course for foreigners but thank God it is free for PR holders. PR is sweet oooo lol. If you want to make it faster towards citizenship, then start learning Portuguese online before you land here to give birth. That way you will skip some basic levels at the Brazilian university and may take you only 4 months to get to the level required for citizenship. This is the path i used.
2. For PR based on a Brazil child, you absolutely need no proof of work nor proof of money. You see, lets get the facts straight, PR based on a Brazilian child simply has to do with being the parents of the child and you do not need to prove anything else major except that you do not have a criminal record. Even with a criminal record, you could still get it so far as the crime in not punishable in Brazil for more than a year imprisonment.
Who ever told you about the proof of work is talking about PR based on special skills needed in Brazil. Of course in that case you must have been invited by a Brazilian company and must have a work contract.
Don’t worry too much about PR based on a Brazilian child. All you need is for your child to be born here. Period.

Adjo10: Merry Christmas juliusocean. The information you got from the vlog is absolutely false and has no legal backing. Parents of a Brazilian child get PR no matter your status. Period. This is guaranteed by the constitution of Brazil.
Let me tell you something, the only thing many Nigerians i have met here know is asylum, asylum, asylum... and nothing else. Many do not even know that they are entitled to PR when they give birth here. And unfortunately, this is how we are seen here (the people claiming asylum). That is why i have no Nigerian friends here. I did not immigrate to another country just to live like I’m in Nigeria lol. Some have genuine reasons for seeking asylum and many Nigerians here are good people but i just prefer to be in my little corner.

Hey Adjo10 compliments of the season So I was watching a vlog the other day and the guy mentioned smt he said those who give birth on expired tourist visas are not granted PR sometimes even with a brazillian child they are compelled to apply /seek for asylum which may or not be granted like really?
