Is legalizing a document at the ministry of foreign affair same as a notary public?

But won’t it be funny when they see ones name after they asked and issue the visa because you said you weren’t pregnant. Hope they cant decide not to legalize the document based on this?

Hello guys. I am going to stop giving infos for a while because i think i know what is actually happening. I will let it rest a while and come back.

It’s a strategy i know well about. So this is my view on what is happening.

There is an attempt to discredit the main person giving infos here. In doing so, they claim to be working with immigration and know the immigration law. They contradict everything i say and claim the other way. They simply want to create so much confusion here that you will not be willing to apply for visas to Brazil again because you are note sure what is true and what is not.

So i will stay silent for a while and come back when things calm down.

The police report must not have been more than 90 days old at the time of PR application in Brazil. It must also be legalized. To do so, take the police report to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nigeria for legalisation. After which you take it to the Brazilian consulate in Nigeria for final legalisation. After the documents arrive in Brazil, you must translate it with a translator authorised by the Brazilian authorities in Brazil. Only after these steps it will be accepted my Police Federal for the application.

If you are going to be in Brazil for more than 90 days before your baby is born, then give your friend or family member a copy of your passport in Nigeria to apply for the police report and do all the above on your behalf and then send them to you in Brazil.

Finally, because the Brazilian consulate has to legalise the document, if you go for legalisation before traveling to Brazil, the consulate will suspect your motives and may cancel your visa. This is because legalisation of documents are only done when you want to apply for a permit in Brazil.

So in short, be smart. I always say, get to Brazil first and let your child be born. The rest will take care of itself as long as you have a Brazilian child.

Honestly, you will not need to overstay if your purpose is to go and give birth in Brazil.

The fine is Rs 100 per day. And the maximum fine is Rs 10,000. The maximum fine means that you cannot be fine more than Rs 10,000 no matter the number of days you overstay. So i don’t understand your calculations. Thanks

Your can extend your visa for another 3 months whiles in Brazil. All you have to do is to go to Policia Federal and apply for it.

Thanks for your comment. I however think we should inform everyone on this platform with facts and not jump to condemn information.

A new immigration law was introduced in Brazil in late 2017. It changed many things including the fines for overstaying from Rs 8 a day to Rs 100 a day for a maximum of 100 days. Obviously, your information is based on the old law and a quick online search which will still be quoting the old fines. Many immigration laws in Brazil can be unclear due to the changes. I am speaking from the new law and experience so i will not say you are wrong. I will simply say your information is outdated but thanks.

Like you said, the total fine should be a maximum of 10,000 which comes back to what i said, Rs 100 per day for a maximum of 100 days. 100 times 100 is Rs 10,000. So i guess we are all saying the same.

Let all note that if you overstay, you will be asked by the police federal to pay the fines while applying for the permanent residence. The fine will not be ignored. I don’t know about asylum application but for permanent residence application based on a Brazilian child, you will pay.

Since they will issue a 3months visa we will definitely overstay does that mean I'll be paying the Rs10000 fine for my self wifey and child? NOTE:Rs10000 = ₦878,421
So ₦878,421 × 3 =₦2,635.263

The best way to get a cheap apt in Brazil is to go through a local website like zapimoveis.com.br... any place you find on a such website will be cheaper than any other place (and WAY cheaper than Airbnb).

Book an Airbnb or hostel for a week and when you get to Brazil, find someone who speak portuguese to help you navigate the website and talk to owners. You need to find a CONJUGADO or KITCHENETTE (kitnet) which is how they call a studio in Brazil

Quick update.

So, the interview story is true. I got an invitation mail two weeks after applying and I have done the interview.
They basically want to see if you are not pregnant, then ask for your mission in brazil, etc.
They don't want to see a baby bump, Infact, it's auto denial.
If you are a lady applying, you are getting invited automatically. Nigerians have really Bleep*d things up.

Check Airbnb for Accomodation. Choose safe areas which are usually a bit expensive. Protect your baby from mosquitoes by choosing an air conditioned apartment. Once your baby is born and you and your family have your permanent residency, then live like a local. Thanks

Hello juliusocean. With the tourist visa you can get a CPF number (Tax number) in Brazil. This tax number can help you register a sim card and go to the hospital but that is all you can do with a tourist visa + CPF. You cannot open a bank account or attend public schools and many more unless you have a resident permit (which you get after your child is born)
