Hi, pls how do we go about visa on arrival? Do we pay for the visa in MMA once we land
I haven't used visa on arrival before, but the procedure here is you send a mail to nigera immigration with attachment of baby's passport and yours(I don't know the format of the mail) then you'll get confirmation from them you'll print and take with you on departure, then you pay the $190 as you arrive Nigeria.

Pompoms:
El Paso moms, please, how much did your baby's documents/getting the blue passport cost in all?
Birth certificate $23
Passport $165
Nig visa I think abt $360/380 (can't remember exactly)
But people use visa on arrival now that cost $190
Ticket depends on airline

Yes she can use drop box for B2/Medical.... I have always had B1/B2 but just renewed via dropbox for B2/Medical... After filling B2/medical and filling Ds form, when you are about to schedule for interview, all they will ask you is B1/B2 related questions for you to qualify for drawbox.

Also before she can schedule the appointment on her profile, she needs to write to US service desk attaching her old passport, new passport and Marriage certificate requesting they update her profile to the new surname and also update the new passport number ( their response takes time though). It is only on that premise she can proceed to schedule appointment and be qualify for drop box.

If she wants to travel with the new passport but the visa is on her old passport that is having her old name, she should go with Marriage certificate and show them at the point of entry
Hi thank you for this information, can I request this update on change of name in my passport on my profile before filling the ds160

Pls Biko ,before talking get ur facts right and read up before u comment . I bought my ticket with my miles thru Qatar office vi and not thru agent . But d agent keep saying this thing about Qatar not flying to USA as they hv been banned from entry with few other airlines . I hv enquired from Qatar they denied of such rumor going around ..hence my decision to find out from real people if what d agent is saying is true or not .
I think what I read about Qatar and some other airlines (etihad, turkish,Emirates,Egypt, royal air maroc) is "tablets, laptop and co being banned from the cabin for there flights going to US"

How does one go about tax returns on items bought?

Is tax returns only done in the airport before departure or can it be done before heading to the airport?

How soon can one process it?

Thank you.
Not only at the airport cos I didn't do mine there,I think you should ask them at the mall or store where you can get back your tax ."lemme copy my post down here"

You'll need your passport, return ticket and receipts,I think you should ask around where you can get your tax back, I had my baby in elpaso,so I did mine in the outlet shoppes mall they have a stand by the food court, in Cielo Vista mall you can find them inside Macy, there is also an office beside Burlington on Yarborough there too .

Hello everyone, please my 26 weeks pregnant sister and her hubby are going to Colorado, I booked an Etihad flight to New York (for POE) and another connecting flight to Colorado. I hope they won't encounter any problems. She's actually going for a medical test and they intend staying for just 2weeks.my fear now is that won't they be questioned at the PO for coming via new york and won't they think they are coming for child Birth? We are all scared ooo. Lol. Pls advice......
I don't think there's anything wrong with the POE so far they have there connecting flight booking but it's in abu dhabi they''ll meet cbp(so I've read here), so if they are cleared there then no issues in NY

So I made some notes before i travelled, more of tips. I hope the new mama's find them useful.

1. Delete all implicating emails/bbm/whatsaapp chats/texts from your phone before boarding cos of POE, including contacts saved with Nairaland (NL)
2.Fly before 36 weeks (i.e. 35 weeks + 1 day = 36 weeks). Pls note i went with Emirates.
3. Get Fit to fly from Doctor signed 2 days to trip and also signed copy of the medif form downloaded from Emirates website. Make 4 copies and keep the original signed forms. Always present the duplicate
4. Weigh your luggage before you leave the house.
5. For return journey, carry your change of clothes and basic needs in your hand luggage because of the layover in Dubai. You wont have access to your luggage until you get to Lagos.
6. For hospital bag, just take yours and baby's change of clothes to return home, charger, earpiece and few toiletries, every other thing will be given to you in the hospital.
7. Take a mid-size box to the hosp to be able to pack all the gifts and takeaways you will get in the hosp.
8. For food stuffs, pack each item in a ziploc bag and clearly mark them.
9. Freeze your palmoil, locust beans and pap and put them in a cooler bag before putting it in your check-in luggage.
10. Some basic things you can buy from Nigeria that will save you cost - blueseal vaseline, cottonwool, methylated spirit etc. these things are less than $1 here and not entirely different from what you will buy for $5 or more in the US.
11. Limited purchase of newborn and 0-3 mths clothes, more of 3- 6mths, 6-9mths and so on.
12. Ask for coupons when you buy stuffs in store or even online. Look out for sales/deals.
13. If you want to bring diapers/wipes from the US, take along a thick ghana must go bag (biggest size) to carry them. the bag has no weight and can carry more unlike a box.
14. Have all documents in your carry-on bag for POE.
15. When going out within the US, always have 1 or 2 bottles of water in your bag, cheaper than buying for about a $1 wen u go out. A pack of 24 bottle is $2.5.
16. Discharge the uber driver when you go out and google stores that are all in the same vicinity/shopping mall to save transportation cost.
17. Do not throw away the receipts of goods purchased until you are safely in Nigeria. You cant say, you may need to return some items in the US or luggage may get missing in transit.
18. Take pics of your luggage before you check them in, you cant say when it may be needed.
19. Once baby arrives, start documentation process immediately. Correctly fill the forms in the hosp and make inquiries on timelines. Let them also know you are traveling soon.
20. Also make efforts to pay your bills within the week you put to bed so that all documentations can be concluded before you leave the US.
21. In the event that you are sent to secondary inspection, please get a book to read to wait out the time and do not panic. Dont be seen pressing your phone, keep your phone out of sight if possible and remain calm.

I hope this is helpful.
@17 you can also get your tax back on purchases from some stores with your receipts and they'll make a copy if you still need the receipt

Doctoresparati" is the name of the organisation and not a doctor, they'll assign a doctor to you and I doubt him "Rodolfo" takes patients. Yes, it's the doctor assigned to you you mention for interview possibly with a letter from that doctor

Hello julzz. When you used doctores Para ti did you pay for extra $ 100 aside from the $150 for tha appointment
I didn't request for a letter from the doctor I think that's what the $100 is for, but I had gotten my visa before I contacted doctores Para ti, most people applying for visa prefer to get the letter to be on the safe side.

.

U are not correct. It depends on state and hospital. For my last baby. I gave birth by 2am on Tuesday and left hospital by 1 pm Wednesday and was billed for one night
I had this same reasoning that it starts to count when baby arrive from what I was told but I was wrong cos I got to the hospital at 9pm ish when contractions was serz but gave birth the next day, I was surprised when I saw bill for extra day and they said 9pm-12am was one day "I was mad" bill of 1k + for just 3 hrs later paid $500 after plenty talk. So please first time mama's always ask oh don't assume!!!

OK. We have been there, and it turned out bad. In our own case, nothing like pregnancy during interview, pregnancy came 4months after visa was issued. We couldn't travel for vacation due to father inlaw's sickness (later died) and burial.
We decided to give birth in Yankee, tried to process visa for mama, na dia katakata happen. Told mama to say na childbirth she wants follow go do. Naso VO said we lied during interview. To cut long story short they called all of us for interview and guess what after few discussion visas were cancelled.

Be guided, let her use the Visa for the actual purpose first.
Oh wow! im sorry about that, thanks for your response.
