Thanks Salford, detailed as usual, I'm headed for Manitoba, I've read from page 0 of the thread always hoping I would find detailed reports about the city, but no dice yet. It seems as if no Nairalander really lives there, eyin ti Manitoba da nah . And I hear there are lits of Naija peeps there o Newly landed brothers and sisters in Manitoba, kindly update as often as you can. Job prospects, taxes, house hunting, schools etc, we know its super cold, any other pros to make one happy? Anything stand out? Thank you. salford1: Calgary: Pros. warmer weather, larger Nigerian community, more multicultural, stampede, close to banff, real international airport, very good transport system (ctrain), no pst, a little lower income tax, easy access to tranacanada highway, calgary zoo.
cons: lots of police and traffic cameras..very easy to get traffic tickets lol, crime rate has risen, schools are becoming overcrowded (the city is fast developing), longer wait times at hospital emergency ward,
Regina Pro: less traffic, lot of government jobs, easy access to transcanada highway, less populated, easier to get jobs, cheaper housing, summer is warmer, car insurance is cheaper (government owned), phone bills and internet are cheaper(government owned). People are friendlier.
cons: Winter is colder, nightlife is poor, not many places to shop, property taxes are high, 6% PST, beer is more expensive.lol |

Thanks for your response. Yes, the accounting experience is within the last 10 years. But do I put my self employment in personal history if I'm not claiming points for it if I get ITS? Should the self employment experience even be in my EE profile? But it would probably look like I haven't been working. What do you think please? PS, I just got NOI from Ontario 40manlappy: If your accountant experience is within the last 10 years and you can obtain reference letter from your former employer OR former supervisor, you can claim the NOC that is closely related to your former job function.
I can't say much about self-employed folks. I think it has been discussed on this thread. You can use the "search" tool at the top of this page to see what comes up. |

Greetings everyone,
I humbly ask you to respond to my issues as they've been nagging at me.
I am an accountant and I worked as one for a few yrs. For the past 3 years however, I've been running my own store/boutique. It is registered as an enterprise (sole proprietor). I also have corporate account.
The NOC closest is wholesale and retail managers, type B NOC.
Can I use this my present job to get PR? Do you know anyone who runs my kind of business and has sailed through?
Please I await your responses.
@40manlappy, @duppyshoo, @v-Cole and every one who has an experience to share |

Greetings all, I am getting the vibes that self employment is not welcome in Canada? I run my own baby products and kids clothing store I am registered as an enterprise, I have a brick and mortar store and an e commerce website. I pay my taxes. I have a separate business bank account. I also have 6 yrs working experience as an accountant previously. I just received NOI from Ontario, is it possible that any issues be raised as per current employment status, me running my company? please elders, help me touchlight this matter. boldinc: There is nothing wrong with being unemployed at the moment... Falsifying salary payments is misinterpretation. All CIC requires is 3 years working experience within the last 10 years. It doesn't have to be a current job.
Just get reference letters in both cases for the most recent work experience. |

Are we plenty waiting for 15 marks add come June 6 ? This CIC sef, they don't like being clear. 15 marks for applicants sibling in Canada. What about spouses sibling? I read on Canada Visa that it's either applicants or spouses sibling, any thoughts? Good Pipu of Nairalandi perks: ARE U GUYS READY FOR THE CHANGES TOMORROW?
News Release From Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada
June 5, 2017—Markham, ON – Improvements to the Express Entry system taking effect tomorrow help support the integration of skilled workers as they build their new life in Canada. This benefits Canada as newcomers are able to more quickly put their skills to use to help strengthen and grow Canada’s economy.
Starting on June 6, new points will be awarded to candidates with siblings in Canada. Studies have shown that as newcomers build a new life in Canada, those with siblings benefit by having improved integration into Canadian society.
Other changes to the Express Entry system include points for candidates with strong French language skills, removing the requirement to register with Job Bank and a new approach to rank tied candidates in the Express Entry pool.
Programs managed through the Express Entry system attract high-skilled foreign workers and former international students who want to live in Canada permanently and whose in-demand skills are needed by employers across the country to help build businesses and grow the economy. |

I ve always wondered if VOs could frown upon a spouse transferring funds to the PA, since he wouldn't submit his account statement to show that the funds stayed in his account for over 6 months. Isn't it possible that VO would think that borrowed funds went to spouse account which he subsequently transferred to his wife? vcole: So many things wrong with this response in my opinion. The spouse can and i advise should transfer the funds to his wife who is the PA. He ony needs to write a letter of explanation that he did so to assist in meeting the funds requirement for their family size. To further support this, he can opt to include his work history and reference letter under the employment section of his own form during eAPR just to show that he earns an income however this is not compulsory. The PA should submit her 6 months' bank account statement and any evidence the cooperative can provide to show how long the funds she invested with them were held for and so on. The spouse does not need to provide any evidence from the cooperative. The PA should use her international passport as it is and should not use any 'new name' or fill any other name anywhere else as there is no evidence of such a name on any of her documents. A marriage certificate suffices to show prooof of relationship to her spouse. |

Wowwww, that would be horrible, lol Boss13: Yes oh - Using gift deed opens your documents to more scrutiny. They know that 99% of gift deeds are actual loans, but with legal documents supporting the gift, there is nothing they can do. Rather they would review your documents very well with the view of finding errors and not completeness. In cases where slight errors can be ignored, they would hold it against the applicant.
These are not my views, but from someone who just got COPR.
My view - I will advise anyone who intends to use gift deed to avoid it at last minute. If your lender can spare the money for 6 months, use another account to collect the money and buy Treasury bills for 6 months or agree with your lender to credit your account with narration - PURCHASE PAYMENT OF ASSETS/CAR/LAND. Then go and get documents to support sales. If you still want to use gift deed - ensure your documents are over complete without errors.
I hope the Visa officers are not reading this comment sha. |

Wow, 2 weeks after submission, that's great. I am the younger one, lols. I'll do some psyching, perhaps he can redo the IELTS. my sister did the OINP and didn't hear back until a year after. She's been nominated now though. I didn't have much confidence in it before. Beem4cupid: Your spouse can be the principal applicant if she is younger ,has required experience and can also ace IELTS like you. Look at that possibility. If you guys can get atleast 400, OINP is an alternative. My friend got nominated less than 2 weeks after submission. |

Thanks for your response. I will read all I can about the Atlantic immigration Pilot Scheme. Who knows. [Spoue has a sibling in Canada. Looking forward to those points too. quote author=40manlappy post=56467824]
I assume that you have at least 3 years of experience. With your spouse's IELTS band of 6, a remark to 7.5 in Writing may not make any difference so you can let go of possible guilt feeling.
However, if your spouse had gotten LSRW 8777, you would have crossed to 402 and possibly be eligible for Ontario PNP. Ontario plans to do weekly issuance of NOIs under the Human Capital Priorities stream but it requires a minimum of 400 points. Maybe you should encourage him to prepare well and rewrite IELTS to get a minimum of 8777.
If you have a sibling in Canada, you could also get an additional 15 marks starting from June 6 which will bump your current score to 412 but it is advisable that you start researching PNPs actively because CRS cutoff may start heading north from June.
Watch out for Nova Scotia PNP when it reopens but don't limit yourself to just the aforementioned. You can also Google Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program. All the best![/quote] |

Oh great, I. Married to a masters holder who didn't do great at the IELTS though. 6 band. But I didn't push for a 're write because it can add only max 10 more scores. 40manlappy: I took the liberty of using the CRS calculator to play around your profile but I realized that the following information were not available:
-Your marital status
-If married, has your spouse taken a language a test?
-What is your spouse highest level of education which you plan to evaluate?
You may consider remarking your Writing module if you are convinced that you did better. The most useful scores as per CRS calculator are SLRW 7.5/8.5/8/7 and you met all except writing.
Please answer the questions above. |

Okay i'll try this and see. I guess one can't combine IELTS results like GCE, lol optionese: Use the crs score again and change your writing to 7.5 but leave others same . That may be your dilemma. I had L 8.5, R 8.5 W 7 and S 7.5. I didn't even know listening had a big impact but my score is 397. I must be soooo old then not to get to over 400 mark, sigh. I'm 37. Is there anything I can do to bump my score? I have a bsc and ICAN which is CIC useless 9jabiggurl: Using the CRS tool i have discovered that to be in the 400 points and above you need minimum of L8, W7, R7, S7
Listening is very key for your CRS score. The difference between someone with 7.5 and 8 in listening is 50 points.
IELTS determines a very good CRS score.
Your best bet is L8, W7, R7, S7
Hope this helps.... |

Well, our supporter was unable to provide documented proof that he has been living continuously in the province for at least one year. Manitoba's response came nearly 8 months after we submitted our application. Even at that, a full review of the application was not performed because of this. |
Travel › Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program Connect Here by Jumdah20: 9:12am On Apr 30, 2017 |
@40manlappy, congratuations on your ITA please can you share the reason your Manitoba application was not successful. I also applied in October and I have not heard back. The status just reads submitted. I didn't even know people have been hearing from them. I know they had applications back log which I hear has been cleared. My CRS score is 397, the prayer is for ITA draw to go lower than that, so that many of us can join you, lol. Please share people if you have info on Manitoba 40manlappy: Congrats to the latest recipients of ITA. Gradually, the "ghost members" (courtesy dupyshoo) are gradually showing up
To borrow an expression, "when ITAs are ready, the ghost members will appear"
On a serious note, let me get this off my chest: our Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program application was not successful!
It depressed me for a few days. It also made me regret not attending the New Brunswick Information Session in Dubai to which we were invited last year.
Judging from the feedback on this thread, some of the attendees got ITA through that means. I had depended on the Manitoba PNP so much that I was not looking at other possibilities. For my mind, we were saving money for POF
Maybe we would have gotten New Brunswick's nomination now or even an ITA
Even when the Quebec application showed up last year, I didn't pursue it with much energy allowing our inability to speak French to be an excuse.
Lesson learnt: Going forward, I shall take advantage of all genuine opportunities that come our way...Atlantic Immigration Pilot, Quebec, etc |
