rvp2018: Yes in poor neighberhood like those - sometimes county have issues - workers striking - name it. Those people are too poor or disorganized to pay private garbage collection.
The problem is now largely sorted - but ongoing challenge.
For rest of Nairobi - garbage is non issues - because private garbage collectors do the job.
Now county gov is giving private garbage collectors contractors - so the problem will be sorted in those areas.
Basically rubbish collection is none existent in kenya.
Here in Ghana, even the poorest of communities have waste bins
The last time we have a clean up Accra campaign like in your videos, it was the evacuation of waste from the last landfill site in Accra and the site was shut down.
rvp2018: We have posted gazillion pictures and videos of Nairobi - how many times do you see garbage. You are talking about Ghana and Nigeria - NOT KENYA.
Here is works in kenya - County gov collect garbage mostly in lower class estates. This normally where there is problem if county gov doesn't do a good job. County gov also collect rubbish in streets - and public spaces.
In the rest of Nairobi (we are talking 95% of Nairobi landmass) - garbage collection is privatized. Every household pays something like 3-5 dollars per month. The private companies give your black polythene bag(s) for the week. You fill up you bag - and there is collection date - say Tuesday for your estate - and so you put the black polythene bag outside your gate.
They pick it - put it on the truck - and they take it to Dandora dumpsite.
At the dumpsite - poor people sort the waste - sell it to recycles - and the rest is stockpilled by county gov escavators.
The plan now is to have huge power plant.
But to imagine having little dumpsite all over like Accra - burning garbage - garbage smelling and rotting away - is to completely BASTADARDIZE the system.
I even doubt you have working sewarage system.
we have posted everywhere in Ghana You wont see rubbish in any pic.
Here in Ghana every house have this 240 liter waste bin You leave it in front of your gate on the days of collection Tuesdays and fridays or mondays and fridays, depending on the company. Special waste collection trucks come to pick it up and empty it.
There are no more dumpsites here anymore. The last one in the Ashanti Region is being closed down.
kenya little waste that is collected is run by unprofessional cartels
rvp2018: Why would private collectors not collect. There is hardly anything recycle from that waste btw. Look for people you can fool.
Private collectors refused collecting waste for a week because They wanted an increase in their monthly service charge from the district Assembly.
Facts stirs you in the face.
The fact that kenya hasn't gotten to the level where all homes have waste bins and waste collectors come to your home to collect waste regularly like in Europe does not mean everyone hasn't.
rvp2018: So rather than one landfill - you want to litter the entire city with little land fills - and small recylers. Not all the waste is re-cyled. What do you do with solid waste. You start fires all over town. No wonder you city look like Nigeria - smoky.
What is there to recycle in poor country like Ghana? Deal with SOLID Waste.
Ours is simple. All rubbish is collected and taken to one landfill. They guys who collect include private companies. From there it can be sorted - and burnt.Nairobi generates 2,500 tonnes of solid waste daily - so annually that would be 900K tonnes.
Guy no serious country operates a land filled site
Most have closed them down for recycling
All collected waste ends up with recyclers.
Kenyan homes dont have waste bins, all the waste generated in kenyan homes litters their environment and the little that gets collected, ends up at various smelly unfilled sites and burning starts, polluting everywhere.
The only poor country here is kenya A country that connot even build recycling plants to handle it waste, who thinks that waste recycling is only a thing for the Europeans.
Kenya couldn't even afford to operate an engineered landfill site
In Ghana, we are done with those old ways of handling waste, even though most of our landfill sites where engineered landfills.
All organic waste are composted and all inorganic waste are recycled.
rvp2018: Every city has some little reclyclers. I see the delusion is national. First your president wants to make accra the cleanest city in Africa and here is your minister of sanitation say it's 85% - but look at ACCRA here
rvp2018: Lame. I have watched videos of accra - and the rubbish littered everywhere is just like Nigeria cities.
Nobody can carry plastic bag in Kenya because the fine is 10,000USD.
Now next challenge - some me the waste collection system and whole recycling in video.
First start with bins in every corner - for all type of materials - YOU CANNOT PULL THAT - if most of Europe cannot pull that (san Switzerland) - you think DIRTY GHANA can do it.
Ive watch rubbish littered everywhere in kenya and it is worse than that of Nigeria.
Yet plastic use and the pollution from its has grown massively into 2021.
Here in Ghana, all communities have their own private waste collection companies that comes to your house to collect waste twice a week.
All collected waste ends up in various recycling facilities around the country
While all the waste generated by kenyans are left in their communities and the little that gets collected ends up in landfill sites all around the country.
Ghana has closed down all it landfill sites in favour of recycling facilities springing up all around the country to recycle waste.
rvp2018: Try find a picture of plastic bag in kenya post 2015. We had most successfully ban and enforcement of plastic bag.
Yes Dandora dumpsite will generate power.
Now tells us about Ghana - 1) When are you cleaning your dirty cities 2) When are you banning plastic bags and 3) generating power from it.
Let's not talk about toxic e-waste for now.
Ive already given you videos in 2020 and 2019 of plastic pollution
Now you want pics?
My cities are already clean and Ghana will not ban plastics because we have an effective waste collection system which end up straight at waste recycling facilities.
All electronic waste currently end up at the 3 electronic waste recycling facilities
All metal products waste ends up at steel plants and segregated into their various metal elements.
You (Just30) supports Naija and SA sometimes but you defend your country regardless.
Shma2020 will pick Naija over Ghana anyday but that does not mean he will not defend Kenya against SA or Naija.
Same for Vlain etc, but this Popzero I don't know his agenda.? --Well it's good to support Kenyans. --Its also good to hate Ghana/Ghanaians even though you live in Ghana. But what I don't get is this guy can't even defend his fatherland Nigeria when Kenyans attack them? I mean how? Pure Inferiority complex
Even that idiot Roan77 won't allow South Africans to disrespect Nigeria
rvp2018: For longest time - Kenya cities didn't pay attention to paving walkways - but I am glad this now changing - Kisumu and Nairobi have taken the lead.
Rwanda has taught us these "small things" are low hanging fruit.
Takoradi and shitty Ghanian cities have long way - first deal with plastic bags, rubbish everywhere, etc
