Obaaderemi2: Ghana is still a lower middle income country, not a low income country like the little Indian said and not a middle income country like you said. Well I didn't say we are a middle income country. I said we have met most of the criteria to be considered a full middle income country except for 2 or 3 criterias. I also said I won't be surprised if we are fully classified as a middle income country in 3 to 5 years. |

Furthermore, I want to understand your type of ret@rdedness.
So you said 50% of Ghanaians live above the $6.78 means, right? Why is Ghana still classified as a low-income country. Your GNI per capita is light year ahead from hitting $4,086 the hell are you on about?
~ World bank Countries with less than $1,035 GNI per capita are classified as low-income countries, those with between $1,036 and $4,085 as lower middle income countries, those with between $4,086 and $12,615 as upper middle income countries, and those with incomes of more than $12,615 as high-income countries.
I will take this as my last reply to you. Let me scape your useless lunatic rants and address your concerns I'm not the one saying it, Ghana census and living standard survey has been stating it for the last 10 years. The IMF, World Bank and AfDB have all been saying it as early as even this 2023. Ghana has met most of the criteria to be considered a full middle income country except for having to collect 30-40% of GDP as revenue and it GNI per Capita hitting the 4,000 mark. I won't be surprised if in 3 to 5 years from now, Ghana is reclassified by the World Bank |

Luzebox: 900 cedis..I meant..it was a typo ...that is poverty in Ghana...wen a loaf of bread is 10 to 13 cedis...that is just on daily survival...removing rent.. emergencies..savings etc..3$ per day in Ghana is still a joke...u basically need at least 10$ in Ghana to be considered not poor..except u live in the village side You just repeated what I said.. 900 and below is Ghana's poverty mark. You can get a big loaf of tea bread for 5 and 6 cedis. People who spend that live in single rooms where they pay between 150-200 cedis on rent in compound houses and spend between 50 cedis and 100 cedis on electricity because they are lifeline consumers. You basically need to be spending above the 3 dollars to be okay in Ghana and 80% of Ghanaians are above that 3 dollars spending rate. This is why only 20% of Ghanaians are poor . Equivalent to 5-6 million people |

Let's leave it there. I just want u to know that u don't know half of what these guys know. I don't think you're talking about the same IMF man as I know which will mean you're not being frank. If there's one thing Ghana inflation rate does is to climb sharply which is purely market based but for it to fall sharply, it doesn't do that. If there's one thing the IMF and WB have consistently been confident of from Ghana, it is it comprehensive statistics they receive. Infact they work more with the Ghanaian civil society which is quite robost to go over these stats and contract them for a separate report to justapose when need be. There by, they have never disputed stats from Ghana. Apart from some years back when the Ghanaian govt removed loans contracted on the books of strong public companies, out of national debt because those companies were capable of paying the debt on their own. Contact IMANI Ghana and see. I know these because I've been part of their consultations before. |

dey play.😁 My national statistical service carry out all data collection for national purposes.. they submit some data to the central bank when they request for it for a purpose. The central bank statistical department only gathers banking related stats electronically for the bank's monitoring and evaluation depart and enforcement depart. This is why I call them lazy Sometimes their data is not even processed unless they are ready to release their monetary policy reports which comes with a complete financial transaction report. They do this every end of year. What ever data that's needed for the Ghana living standard survey is collected in the field by the statistical service. |

The Bank of Ghana statistical department is a lazy arm, they basically don't do their work often. It's good they are not part of the Ghana statistical service. Hope you get the difference now As we speak, there's a new living Standard survey going on in Ghana. It started in January 2022 and the will finish in December of 2024. The Ghanaian statistical service is one of the efficient office in Ghanaian government circles and their surveys are one of the things they don't play with and they carry them out frequently at little cost. Shma2023: Bruh. Why are you slow? Or the simple interpretation is ringing Quotuntum physics?
Lemme repost the data.
Listen. WB is using $6.78 for upper-middle income. Upper middle income is the bone of contention. People living below the $6.78 means in Ghana are 79% of the entire population. Meaning, through simple calculation, those who spent more than $6.78 in Ghana are a paltry 6.7M.
21/100× 32000000 = 6.7M
People living below the $6.78 means in Kenya are 86% of the entire population. Meaning, through simple calculation, those who spent more than $6.78 in Kenya are 7.5M.
14/100× 53000000 = 7.5M except that this data is 8yrs old.
What didn't you understand? Let me refresh your memory on this conversation from last year November.. Shma2022: Cut the crap! Try and read why you have typed before sending. Some of the drivel you post is beyond the holding power of a normal human.
Nairobi is a Dream to many Ghanaians -- yes, even your dwarf president who allows in billions of cedis. How about a normal low-class individual like you? A very tiny percentage of Nairobi is slums. Accra is a slum itself... Yet Kenyans are the one flooding Ghana for greener pastures because they see Accra as their New York and Ghana as their England for education. 86.6% of Kenyans are if we use the new world bank data on what it takes to be considered a middle class person which is based on a spending of 5.65 dollars a day.
To be above middle class, you have to have a spending of 10 dollars and at this rate, 95% of Kenyans are poor. You can check same for Ghana and you'll see why your economy hasn't transformed lives.. At those same rates Ghana has 50% of her population in middle class and at upper class, Ghana has 22% of her population. It is bad for Kenya to only have 13% of her population in the middle class.. Consult the data here https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/poverty-rate-by-country

Shma2023: Income stats for Kenya is outdated 2015. Stop rumbling. This is the verdict of the World Bank in a forecast _ after 2015. The only available WB documentation on our Income state!
“kenya's Robust GDP per capita growth since 2005, along with growth in private consumption, saw the share of the population living below the international poverty line fall from 43.9 to 33.4 percent (2015-2019).” _ Take notes of the DATES!
The Bank in the report capturing Kenya’s economic health reckons that the gap between the rich and poor is unchanged from 2015, but it narrowed between 2005 and 2015.
Again, you didn't get the logic. I gavr you logic with figures, you're literally repeating same baseless gibberish! LIS, you haven't countered the key points in the argument I made!
KEBS has the recent data too.
Data from the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics, shows that 36.1 per cent of Kenyan households are classified as poor with the remaining 63.9 per cent or 30.39 million being non-poor. This means that a third of the non-poor represents 10.02 million, with majority of them being the “floating middle class.”
AFDB data is 10yrs old. Only a mad man will make reference to it. The African Development Bank (AfDB), in a 2013 report, identified a “floating middle-class” - for whom a simple shock such as job loss or huge medical bill is enough to impoverish them— and put them at close to a third of the country’s middle class population.
I gave you a win in PC; The actual figures. you're NOWHERE in numbers. Also You can't compete with Nigeria in numbers; maybe percentage wise! You can't match Kenya in numbers either. Get the point. Stop the childish show.
Here another Logic. If you can't grasp this then you're outightly an obtuse.
The single heaviest item in the middle class’ shopping basket, according to the national statistician, is hotel boarding followed by airtime, two-bedroom rental house, beer, rent for one bed-room and personal cars.
They also tend to spend a lot on restaurants, bus fare and insurance for their vehicles. _ Do you think Ghana has more cars than Nigeria or Kenya? Do you think Ghana has more luxurious hotels than Kenya or Nigeria? How many people in Ghana have access to fiber connection or any type of internet?
Don't use @Jl115 as the SI unit for intelligence. He can't be the marking scheme of what we sat here. His remark is debatable.
Hell! Did you just say only 4% of Kenyans live above $10 means? When Niger and Togo are both doing 17%? That makes me question your sanity. You're an ignorant Buffoon. So why are you complaining of the data being outdated? If the highlighted Is the case? @jl115 posted what he got from the World Bank |

Shma2023: World Bank has standard calculation procedures for both countries. That's why we refer to her in this specific topic. Everything I've posted is from the WB herself. Go and check the World Bank website and see if Kenya rate on the 5.5 dollars mark and see if it's not 86% which means only 13.5% of Kenyans can consume at 5.5 dollars and above. For a middle income country, the poverty band are calculated like this $3.65 - poverty $5.5 - lower middle income $10 - upper middle income For upper middle income countries $6.85- poverty $10- lower middle income I wonder why you're still arguing |

Shma2023: Upper middle income rate in Ghana is 79%. Upper middle income in Kenya is 86%.
Simple maths for both respectively will be 6.7M and 7.5M. Yes upper middle income band of Ghana is 79% meaning 21% of Ghanaians fall in the upper middle class consuming >$10. That's 6.7 million people The upper middle income band for Kenya is 4% which is 1.8 million people or 2.2 million if you use the actual population size of 56 million @>$10. On the lower middle income band of $5.5, 86.6% of Kenyans fall below it meaning only 13.5 of Kenyans fall above the 5.5 dollars rate. This give Kenya a small middle class size of 7.4 million and an even tiny upper middle class. I hate people who are dishonest and knows nothing. |

To the point, logically speaking, that thing doesn't make even a bit!
Let's try logic:
How many millionaires are in Ghana or Cameroon as compared to Nigeria or Kenya? Those are the minority rich to the end of that spectrum.
How many people are In Nigeria? Or Kenya and how is the economic development between the two? Let's try PER CAPITA or PPP. Ghana or Cameron might be ahead in percentage but by Numbers? HELL NO.
I just checked WB data - although there max income generated in there system is $6.78 per day _ and their data is outdated as well. Like for Kenya; they documented the data 8yrs ago! What's the point here? 91% of Nigerians live below $6.78 means per day. That means; 9% left are 20 million there about. _ meaning, those who live above the means of $6.78 per day _ THE UPPER MIDDLE CLASS. Are 20Million _ 5times + of what he posted/ although with a $3 difference which still partly covered with the stats for dollar millionaires. In Kenya; 86% can't afford that! That means 14% of the entire population lives above $6.78 means_ which is around 7.5 million. Ghana on the other hand; only 7.4million live above that means, which is cool considering their paltry economy.
We can factor in many nitty gritties, like real estate ; lifestyle; City states and whatnot. Cameroon and Ghana can't match Nigeria or Kenya in that regard.
Coming to those in this category <$10. The pointers above should ring volume.
Unless he's just inflating the ego with that tiny substrata of the entire maltifaced index; which is understood. long essay only to say nothing The world bank data in use is 2020 and 2021.. Now stop crying that it's outdated when all indicators shows that things have gotten worse in Kenya. Let me even bring this back jl115: Shot @$5.50 a day
SA: 56.9% Ghana: 55.1% Kenya: 86.6% At >$10 only 4% of Kenyans can afford that, this explains why the Kenya market is flooded with cheap plastic stuff from China. It also explains why real estate in Kenya is mostly unoccupied while in Ghana they are fully occupied and why the Ghanaian real estate market offers fantastic options and opportunity especially in the multi family units than Kenya. Two institutions AfDB and WB can't all be wrong The size of the Kenyan middle class is 7.5 million using your current population figure of 56 million and that of Ghana is 14.4 million. As you can see, in absolute figures Ghana beat you as well. For a middle income country, $5.5 is the lower middle income band and $10 is the upper middle income band. $2.3 - $5 is the floating band. Kenya has a larger floating band than Ghana

Luzebox: ..what you posted was over 5 million ghanaians can spend 10$ =100 cedis a day...which is not wild cos anything under that in ghana is poverty or close to poverty..with the expensive cost of living...thats why the average ghanaian earning btw 1000 cedis to 4000 cedis can barely save ...the ability to spend 10$ doesnt really mean much in some countries..u might still fall under the struggling line Ghana poverty rate is set at 2.3 dollars spending per day and anything less than that is poverty. If you spend above that in Ghana per head you're doing fine. The average Ghanaian savings as a share of GDP compared to other countries in first pic is above sub Saharan standard. So your statement on Ghanaians not being able to save does not even hold water. In second pic you have Ghanaian savings and time deposit as a percentage of broad money supply which is also high. So as you can see, you can still spend that high in Ghana and be able to save enough money.
