5 million Households in Ghana have their own private toilets within their home.
2 million households share a toilet facility

1.4 million households do not have a toilet facility so they either visit community base toilets or find other means.
This translate to 5.2 million people which is the same as the number of poor people in Ghana.

Mostly a rural problem than an urban one

I simply don't care for your arguments. Good day. cool
You don't care that 11 million Kenyans are going to toilets in the open in Kenya ?

Toilet has been the only intellectual talking point you have tried to have.

If I was in Kenya, I'll be worried that this many people shit in buckets and bushes or dig pits.

We don't do that nonsense here.

Not interested really. Carry on your foolishness and remember not to $hit at the beach. It's barbaric!
Since you're foolish enough to talk about toilets, I can only show you with data that Kenya have it worse than anyone here.

More Kenyans shit on beaches than in Ghana, in Ghana, the census data says only 2,000 households shit on beaches which is basically 6,000 people.

In Kenya, it is 500,000 people

So we're going to go off your observations then? Anyone in here with experience will tell you 99% of poor households can't sustain the fuel needs for powering only those two appliances talk less of fridges and cooking stoves.
Since they don't have a census data.
A survey observation is the best method of proving this.
You can verify this by your own sample, I'm sure there are lots of videos on YouTube to help you. Since you can't afford a travel to Nigeria

The numbers say otherwise. I've operated a generator before and I know it's the most uneconomic option out there especially with the current fuel prices.
Numbers from where ?

First of all, Nigeria hasn't done any census.

Secondly if you pick any 10 poor household in Nigeria, a fan and tv are the common things you'll find in 8 of them.

How do I know this, by simple observation when I went there

Since your didn't read to get it yesterday, let me repeat it for you again. Build more toilet for Kenyans cause you guys don't have it

According to census data from both countries and UN data
Only 29% of Kenyans have access to improve sanitation meanwhile the figure in Ghana is 87%

Another thing, this generators are only a preserve for the middle class. What percentage of the low income households can afford one and even then would they sustain the fuel needed for powering a fridge, stove, TV, air conditioning?
From my experience, it is not a preserve of the middle class.

The poor in Nigeria have at least a fan and tv in their house that they have to power, some have fridges to power. These things are a necessity hence generator is a necessity once you don't have electricity there.

I know. Our needs are different hence the need for innovation. These solar plans sort out most of the energy needs and there also exists clean affordable ethanol gas that compliments the system. Either that or biogas for most of the rural folks.

Ps. The more expensive systems are mostly for backup and water heating in the middle income areas or water pumping/irrigation in the rural areas.
At this rate, we can say Nigeria is better than Kenya on the electricity front because those who are not served, Generators provide all their electrical needs.

They don't run around with one solar lap around their house looking for a pin and claiming to have electricity 🤣😂

An average house in SA has a four plate stove, kettle, fridge, microwave, tv, etc that requires large amount of solar power

Will need R80 000 home system for backup

Your solar plans won't work in SA
They have a basic understanding of solar systems to run off grid when the grid does not exist or is unavailable.

Typical noise from a country that can't improve in anything

Let me help refresh your mind on what a mess you live in(Kenya)

27.5% - mud/cow dung buildings
16.5% - Stone with lime/cement buildings
16.3% - concrete buildings
15% - zinc kiosk buildings
7% - wooden shacks
6.8% -bricks building
5% - bamboo
5.9% - thatch/lancrete and others

According to census data, mud houses are the predominant form of housing in Kenya.
I'm only generous when I quote 40% or 45% it is because I like to be generous when it comes to Kenya just so things are not portrayed as bad as they are.

Ok.ok.ok!!!!

Let's assume 2019 vs 2023 are Apples to Apples/let's overlook your Obtuseness for once and assume Apple for Apple is an oblivious team.

Notwithstanding the aforementioned, let's not ignore the real definition of the KEY TERM Apples to Apple
phrase of apple
NORTH AMERICAN
used with reference to a comparison regarded as valid because it concerns two things that are fundamentally the same.

Let's also factor in the Kenyan 40% (mudhouses and metal) - from your usual verbose. 40% ≠ to Ghanian 63%.

For starters:
Metal and wooden homes can't be predominant in Ghana. Yes! Concrete and Mudhouse are!

If there are 20% wooden and metal houses —ALONE— in Ghana; Heck! Then pretty much 60% of hobbits dwell in either metal, mud, or wooden houses. POVERTY, RIGHT?

Ignore that. Let's take your verbiage as gospel truth. Let's assume Ghana metal, mud, and wooden houses accounts for a paltry 6% of the entire Ghana house structure. Hahaaa —By that standard, SA, India, Brazil Etc are zoos— mhh... That's not the point though, here is the point:

Kenya is still light years ahead of Ghana. Ghana is nothing/Ghana is irrelevant/ Nobody knew Ghana if it wasn't for Kenya vs Nigeria thread. Comparing Ghana to Kenya is a favour to you( we want you to feel relevant) _ Cos a genuine comparison will be a NON-STARTER!

From the point above; you've clearly wasted your lies/ Words _ cos it has served no purpose.

Byee... Bwoy.
Dream on

I only engages in a discussion of facts.

The statistical facts state that less than 6% of properties in Ghana fall in the category of mud hut, metal and wooden kiosks.
If we go by the actual figure in the report, it will be less than 3%.

But I must help Kenya catch up fast so I dash you guys an extra 3%. When will Kenya get down from 45%?

Sleep on it😂🤣

As the thread has shun, no one here knew Kenya than for marathon. But Ghana established Kenya hence you guys study Ghana as a course in Kenya.

If not for you Kenyans, I wouldn't have known that Ghana was the one that established Kenya as an independent state.

The Asantehene (King) Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and HRH Lady Julia Osei Tutu of Ashanti

What must be said:

Whoever ascends the throne of Asanteman will always have prominence in Ghana and beyond. Manhyia is the reason why modern Ghana became a full British Colony only in 1902. For historical perspective, USA was a British Colony for over 170 years. Manhyia is the reason Twi is a very prominent language in Ghana. The prominence of Asantehene is historically shaped. It's a massive institution. Global personalities stand in awe when they come before the King in his full Majesty at Manhyia.

While posting preliminaries while main housing data where not released until 2023.
Let me help you since you're struggling to understand simple data. There are 10,659,542 properties in Ghana and only 10,006,233 out of that total are dwelling places where people sleep.

This Zombie is so hard pressed all because Kenya has 45% of households living in either mud or zinc housing.

In Ghana, less than 600,000 dwelling places fall in the category of mud huts, metal kiosk and wooden kiosks.
