Why dont you look like South Africa? Why does your cities look like Nigeria? Like it just recovered from a nuclear war. Brown rusted roof with informal traders in every little space.
SA and Ghana have different way of living ... In what area of development do you come close to Ghana... In every area of development, Ghana only come second to SA.

Or have you forgotten your economy is largely informal and worse of all, those conditions are terrible than Ghana

Which part of North Korea look flashy compared to South Korea. You cannot hide wealth in data. It manifest itself.
are you asking me? Have you seen both capitals ?

Exactly... You can't hide behind empty apartment to claim make noise .... Your power consumption will expose you just like how north Korea look dark and the south is bright. Like the 5 fold difference between Ghana and Kenya power consumption. Accra alone consumes more than half of Kenya power consumption.

That's a 5 fold difference in standard of living ... It's the fact that you guys cannot afford to live in standard properties beyond those slum scrappers

Also, Middle income in Kenya accounts for 44.9% of Kenyan population ---- that is around 23M there about.
Ghana is doing 13M .. FYI.
I and the south Africans have already showed you that the middle class in Kenya is only 5 million people by using data ... You can refer back to that conversation... No need to throw empty words around

Shma2022:
Living standards come hand in hand with life expectancy. If you live long, you're happy and eating healthy - and of course enjoying good security(security requires huge investment). Living standard is not about how obese you're.

Thus say, ghana's life expectancy is 3yrs below Kenya's.

The current life expectancy for Kenya in 2022 is 67.21 years, a 0.39% increase from 2021. The life expectancy for Kenya in 2021 was 66.95 years, a 0.39% increase from 2020

Ghana's living standard is 64yrs.
Thrash as usual...

This fool does even know what living standard is and is confusing it with life expectancy. Which is an expectation base on assumption

Accra long failed the eye test. It's why you got pulled into this conversation and we have come to know your economy is sick. You can cook data but cedis is showing your dust.

Since you got independence your cedis cumulative lost against the dollar is 150,000!!!!!!!!!!
Nairobi failed the quality of living standard test which is the most important... While North Korea may look flashy than South Korea because it seek to impress visitors with empty apartment for tourist, South Korea is more wealthy and it people do not face yearly starvation and they also live in better conditions.

We have come to know the Ghanaian economy to be more resilient and had withstood 3 years of turbulence and still standing strong while Kenya runned to the IMF 2 years ago and still facing the hyperinflation effects.

My reply got chewed I guess by robot but I think you should ask yourself that question - and figure out how kenya is climbing to 120B dollars based on coffee and tea alone. When you look at say Nairobi - and Accra - with all oil/gold - what do you see?
if you look at the living standard of Kenyans and compare it with Ghanaians .. do you see an equal comparison?

While half of Ghanaians are middle incomers, only 5 million Kenyans are middle incomers. That is a gap that makes your tea and flowers valueless in affecting Kenyan wellbeing.

When you look at Nairobi and Accra.. you see a thriving society in Accra and you see a struggling society in Nairobi

Is that why you cedis is now 150,000 to a dollar... remember you redominated the cedis, removed four zeros and peg it to a dollar..now it gone 15 times down..and you can bet income has not risen 15 times... unless you gov or private sector increase salaries.Youre just another Zimbabwe or Zambia
desperate as usual ..
No wonder the price of cement in Kenya is same as that of Zambia ....
To be buying cement at almost 9 dollars is just insane.
Rice at 10 dollars for 5kg and other basic stuff.

No wonder 44million Kenyans are now poor

the consumer price index exposed them . It is way to much expensive to live in kenya than in Ghana . Factoring Accra and nairobi only .
grin grin

I just decided to check retail prices in their country to compare it with what exist in Ghana on basic stuff and the mess I saw even surprised me. And I started asking how and when they went through such hyperinflation to get to where they are today, where most Kenyans can't afford food anymore.

kenya staticians institution is highly politically influence , who knows if that is the exact figure ? Cus consumer price index keep exposing them..

For example , you can still have a good meal in any standard restaurant with just two dollars in Ghana (about 28 to 30 cedis ) I doubt it will happen in kenya. I have checked on common food outlet like KFC.
grin grin
Basically... Kenya is a true reflection of a zoo

Even junk like KFC cost a finger to get.. you can only wonder how many kidneys it will cost to get a boutique meal

14.60 Ghanaian Cedi for a dollar.
Focus there.
And try see if you can run away from Ghana to Nigeria; they are at least few months from such a crisis.
Kenyans are busy running away to Ghana because your crisis has taken 2 years without a solution.. fix it so they can stay.

Electricity is cheaper, gas is cheaper, cooking oil is cheaper, cement is cheaper than in Kenya...

Those are the realities on the ground .. so again I ask, How are you guys surviving in Kenya?

The fact that the least expensive 5kg bag of rice is 10 dollars in Kenya just makes us know that things are really bad.

Why are you guys paying 8 times for electricity than us?

Anyway, I don't expect anything much from you because rvp couldn't answer

Red herring. 40% inflation is not something I made up buddy. It's caused by poor Macroeconomic management. The price of rice in Kenya is determined by supply and demand.

You have on-off Tema-Accra line that is operational with 4 used DMU. The rest of the railway is rusted to the ground and you're trying to rehabilitate - it's far from going into operation.

Show me a video of you traveling in railway outside Tema-Accra?

You are worse than Nigeria.

Kenya even at it worse - Mombasa to Kampala railway has run nonstop since 1900 - as MGR. Passenger services was stop for few years but cargo works till now.

Nairobi Metro/commuter line has run nonstop since 1900.

All the branches are now all running - Kisumu, Nanyuki, etc

SGR is greenfield in kenya - old railway is working.
is this operational or not

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xX474L80GHE

Our bauxite train has been running for more than a 100years now. Carting bauxite from the various mines to Takoradi for Tema.

Next excuse for why you only have 580km SGR compare to Ghana 1000km with an extra 1300km already already under construction

The crush/inflation/ name it started in March.
It already peaked.
That is called a lagging indicator.
Leading indicator - everything is coming down
And Ruto has not done anything - he is not finished forming his gov.
That mean everything coming back to normal based on positive sentiments alone.
People are confident on how he is going to steer the economy.
Zambia got such a lift off because their new president knows his stuff.

Nigeria and Ghana your inflation/liquidity name is accelerating and getting worse because nobody trust the sleepy Buhari and the Ghana short comedian.
Fortunate enough, the effect of inflation is better in Ghana than in Kenya .... You guys in Kenya have it worse off.

In era of internet - we should not argue over such basic facts.

There's also a long cargo train that carries bauxite from 300km away to Takoradi harbour to be transported to Tema.

I once fact-checked; there is only a rickety functional line from Tema to Accra - something like 49kms - that generally operate based on the moods of their train driver -otherwise there is no train service working in Ghana. Their railways system went into disuse and they are trying to rehabiliate. They gave chinese their aluminum so they can repair their broken railway system.

This only train service they got - and it's a mess.

Management of Ghana Railway Company Limited (GRCL) will from today, Monday, July 18, 2022, resume the Tema-Accra passenger train service, which was suspended temporarily for rehabilitation works.

“After successfully addressing some technical challenges, GRCL conducted series of test runs and a final joint inspection was also carried out on July 7, 2022, by GRCL and Ghana Railway Development Authority (GRDA) to ascertain the suitability of the line for passenger service,” a statement from GRCL noted.

The Ghana Railway Company Limited in the statement said GRDA, which is the industry regulator, has granted it the approval to commence the shuttle service.

Red line already exist and renovated
Blue A-Line SGR completed

Lemme finish reading this report.
As usual... Because you can't build a similar length of SGR as Ghana... You're here posting a 2021 report base on work done in 2020.

Ghana renovated it A-line of NGR from Takoradi port to Kumasi and from Kumasi to Accra..

And has also gone ahead to build an SGR along the same line.
