Congrats my brother on finding a good one. Many more decades of joy and happiness in your home. Anyone who knows what it means sustaining a family will appreciate a helpful wife.
You have done well by ignoring the idi.ot. you can tell he is still getting pocket money from daddy. It's sad what we see on this forum all because it is faceless. Its the audacity for me just because they can afford a N500 data subscription they think they have an opinion on everybody's business.

Family / Re: How To Resolve Debt Issue by Justdare: 1:44pm On Jan 20
Aryafucksfinaly:
Please a friend of mine who was in a dire and critical situation borrowed 600,000 Naira from a family friend on the condition of paying back with 20% monthly interest rate. The lender asked for post-dated cheques as security in return.
After 4 months, she was able to pay back the lender's capital of 600,000 Naira. But the issue is that she had issued post-dated cheques of 480,000 Naira due to the monthly interest accrual which totalled 80%. But her situation has not improved at all so that she has not been able to pay back the interest.
The lender continued threatening to file a complaint against her to EFCC and police for issuing a dud cheque. Eventually she borrowed 150,000 Naira and paid to the lender, leaving a balance of 330,000 Naira.
Now the lender is still threatening to file a complaint against her if she doesn't pay back the remainder. And as it stands, heaven and earth, she doesn't have any money to pay back at the moment.
A friend of ours who is a lawyer has suggested writing to the lender should the police be involved, since the lender is not licensed and the interest rate being charged is in contravention to the State's money lending laws. Please is it appropriate to for my friend to consider this approach?

Please house, kindly let me know what options she has. She doesn't want to disappoint our family friend who was of assistance to her in her time of need, at the same time, she doesn't have the money to pay back at the moment.

I hope this issue is sorted out, if not get her to write a letter to the "family friend" asking him not to present the cheques, she must cite the cheque numbers.
She must state the original reasons for the cheques and why it is unreasonable to present them for payment. This will undoubtedly absolve your friend from any litigation that might arise if the cheques were presented for payment. It would turn the case in her favour.

This is very poor... Zero coordinations

They just use number and heavier fire power to overcome their enemy... Is that the tactics

This is poor we can do better

This is just poor. Zero aerial support. A drone would have given the needed tactical support and reduced this noise by at least 75 percent.

Seun:

1. Sack all the failures who allowed the attack to happen despite having the plan and receiving warnings from Egypt and female spotters.

2. Close all the loopholes that Hamas exploited to get into Israel. Secure the borders of your country from your hostile neighbour.

3. In going after Hamas, make a clear distinction between Hamas fighters and civilians. Don't destroy homes just to make civilians feel bad. Don't cut off food, water and medication. Don't call them human animals or Amalekites. Don't kill entire families. Try to be surgical.

They saw Hamas fighters training to attack them in the open, and did nothing. Now they are killing innocent civilians. It should have been the other way round.

4. Go after the fighters and the people they report to when you have the opportunity to do so with minimal collateral damage, Take your time and do it right. The problem is not what they say that they are doing (going after Hamas) but how they are doing it (indiscriminate bombing and shooting everything that moves) and why they are doing it (rage & revenge).

1. There are currently protesters in Israel, calling for the resignation of Netanyahu, and all in charge of security. This will not happen because it was all a part of an agenda. And the Palestinians played right into it.

2. It is almost impossible to achieve this. Israel has the 4th largest military in the world and Hamas did not need any sophisticated equipment to infiltrate. They came in paragliders. It was as simple as standing on any tall building in Palestine and jump into Israel.

3. How do you differentiate between a people who don't want to be. The civilians actively hide and protect the fighters. They don't wear any special uniforms or gears. The Hamas fighters come out off the tunnels, shoot their pipe bombs and run back. That is their war plan in a nutshell. "Wear them out". Their hideouts are schools and hospitals. Children are their shields. How do you fight fair with a gunman shooting at you from behind a 10-year-old? As much as I abhor wars, I believe we all have a responsibility and duty to stay alive by all means necessary. As much as it saddens me to say this, all is fair in war. Nigeria employed the hunger tactic during her civil war. Maybe if she didn't we would be telling a different story.

Seun, yours was a very emotional piece, your bias towards the Palestinians was not very hidden though. I have learned in my few decades on Earth that nothing is what it seems.
The Hamas leaders played right into the Israeli's hand and what they suffer now is the result of their arrogance. I believe it was all a part of a big plan to evade Palestine, else,
1. Why did the iron dome fail
2. Why wasn't there any response from the IDF in about 4 hours of murder and torture
3. Why wasn't any resistance at the party, 'cause every adult Israeli is a trained soldier (male and female)
In all you wrote, you did not mention what a "fair response" from the IDF would have been for the criminality carried out on their land.

Throwback:
Maybe the question you all need to ask is if indeed such expenditure is justified, but the title or wording in the budget and cost reports do not do justice to the full scope of what it covers.

What I am saying is that Aisha and all those who spend all of their time criticising, oneday find themselves in power, and their so called "feeding budget" is also in the billions too.

Then something is fundamentally wrong with what we know, what we are told, and what we criticise, only to get to power and realise we have only been criticising like illiterates and beer parlour analysts.

Didn't Buhari insist there was nothing like subsidy before he got to power and continued paying it?

Didn't Fashola insist that a serious government would solve power problems in 6months like Bola Ige also claimed in 1999, only for both to fail in that very portfolio despite spending beyond 6months as the Minister in charge?

Did Tinubu's aide and now Minister, Dele Alake, and his current media aide Bayo Onanuga, not claim that a serious government did not need more than 1month to nominate Ministers? Are we unaware of how the Tinubu Presidency managed to beat the 60days deadline set by Buhari, by presenting incomplete list of nominees?

So we have seen old governments fail, and have also seen the erstwhile critics even fail the more when saddled with the responsibility they yearned for.

It is time we cool off on the illiterate criticisms and outlandish expectations that Rome must be built in a day, even when the bricks and the Masons are yet to be provided.

One of the few reasonable ones left on Nairaland.
God bless you.

I too know is what will kill poor Nigerians all the time!!!!

In 2023, even the very rich like osimenh have wised up and stopped settling for less. You that don't even have upto 100million in your account is still speaking GRAMMAR😊.

It's only a fool that settles for less nowadays if you don't know, women mastered this very ACT centuries ago... the men just learnt it recently and are coming up indeed.

Even me now I'm still broke, i will never look a broke girl twice talkless of marrying her⚠️

Any lady that can't afford the basics of life which mostly include the financial capabilities shouldn't be in a relationship or marriage oga, forget your grammar nah hunger and depression go open your eyes soon when you carry Bills wey heavy pass you.

I stand with osimenh 💯

I appreciate your view, as narrow as it seems.
I have been married for 17 years. Are you?
I travelled near and far.
Ever left the shores of this country?
I have seen the ups and downs of life and still learning.
What have you seen.
Listen to wisdom. If your view of life can be narrowed to Naira and Kobo then you are a child.
Unlike God and family, money and material things are ephemeral because they will wash away in the rain of life.
Romance / The Transactional Nature Of Relationships by Justdare: 4:43pm On Oct 09, 2023
The Nigerian International, Victor Osimhen, was quoted as saying "If You Are Not Bringing Anything To The Table, I Don't Want You". As much as I respect his position, I think it is wrong.
Relationships, at their core, can be viewed as a series of transactions between the parties involved. While we may like to see our close connections in a purely emotional light, there is an underlying current of needs being met on both sides. We enter relationships to fulfill certain wants and expectations, whether material, emotional, or otherwise.

This transactional aspect underpins even our most intimate bonds. For instance, romantic relationships provide partners with emotional and physical intimacy, security, social status, financial stability, and so on. Each partner brings certain assets to the table and seeks other benefits in return. The end goal is maximizing gains for both, even if unconsciously.Thinking/assuming a woman brings nothing to the relationship table is both myopic and childish and same goes for women who think they can live fulfilled lives without a man.

The man(not boy) often provides financial stability, protection, and pragmatic advice drawn from his life experiences. He offers the woman access to professional networks and resources to advance her goals. In return, he seeks benefits like keeping the home together, childcare, and a presentable companion for social status. He hopes the relationship leads to maternal care for his offspring and emotional intimacy grounded in feminine nurturing.

The woman typically contributes beauty, homemaking skills, and a caring temperament to the relationship. She provides grace and aesthetics to cultivate a pleasing environment. In turn, she seeks security, worldly knowledge, and respectability derived from the man’s role as a provider. Her goals are often material comforts and social capital for herself and her future children. in a woman's world, these translate to love and it's the reason women will always marry up.

There is an unspoken contract where the man trades wealth and wisdom for youth, character, and a child from the woman. Meanwhile, the woman exchanges beauty and domesticity for resources and respectability from the man. Problems arise in the family when these values are weaponized.

Of course, the exact exchange varies across socioeconomic brackets and individual preferences. But the core bargain persists - man provides material goods and elevation in status, woman offers feminine qualities and the veneer of virtue. Both hope to satisfy pragmatic and emotional needs through this mutual transaction.

By acknowledging this dynamic interplay, a couple can better attune their expectations and contributions. Eliminating unrealistic ideals allows for an equitable relationship defined by transparency, not resentment.

I think many of us don't understand a thing or just choose to be plain stupid.....

The Uk has what it calls the waiting list....7.6millon people in the England are waiting to see the doctor....
In Wales 70,000 people are waiting to see the doctor for the past 18 Months...

The other day...doctors talk about Gambia paying $4000 to doctors....but they won't tell you that the cost of studying medicine in the Gambia is $4800 per year....

What is the cost of studying medicine in the UK? £9,000 pounds per year... people will go to ife or Lag or last for #25,000 per year and be asking to be paid the same with those that go to school with $4,800 and £9,000

What is the cost of housing? Or electricity or health insurance? Or transportation?
The only thing cheap in the uk is food and that is rising as well...
And when we talk of Minimum wage... what is the difference between the politicians and the Civil servants ? What most of them take home is far greater than their salary

Their system is no longer working...they now need new breds of Slaves....

You may curse APC and PDP or APGA....

But never curse Nigeria....when you compare countries do it holistically
I just found another reasonable Nairalander. God bless you. These "boys" are simply incapable of reasoning in its most basic form.

NYSC / Re: NYSC Is 50! Please Tell The World Where You Served. by Justdare: 8:05am On May 11, 2023
sidney22:
In another thread, the topic is on the way forward after 50 years of the scheme.

I did my youth service when NYSC was 25 years old in Calabar , Cross River State.
That was in 1998.

The orientation period was the shortest yet in the history of NYSC till date - 2 weeks that looked like one month.

The service year too was still the shortest - from February to December.

Leaving the camp then, we were given questionnaires to fill on the way forward for the scheme.

What I suggested then is what I am still going to suggest now on the way forward for this noble scheme.

Presently as it stands , NYSC has outlived its usefulness as originally planned.

A very laudable program that requires modification and twerking to suit the present day Nigeria.

It should not be scrapped but rather restructured.

The scheme should be reduced to six months.

But the mandatory one year (monthly) allowance must be maintained.

The scheme should be broken down into three phases.

Each phase should last just two months.

During this six months every corp member must enjoy his/her monthly allowance.

At the end of the six months every corp member should be disengaged and six months allowance paid in full to prepare them for live in the larger society.

Phase 1- Security Training

Every corp member should be made to undergo two months compulsory security/military training.

The most basic security/military training must be given to every Nigerian graduate.

This is what is obtainable in Israel and the Korea nations.

At the long run, the country will have a pool of youth already endowed with the basics in private and public defence mechanisms who can always and easily be called upon in terms of emergency.

Other nations have military reserves and these can serve the same purpose.

Phase 2 - Food security

For the purpose of food security , depending on the season of call up, all corp member should be engaged in one form of agriculture or the other for the next two months.

Every state as a matter of fact must provide land for farming, facilities for poultry, piggery, fishery etc.

Depending on the season, any batch that comes in, continues from where the last batch ended.

For example, if it is for cropping, if batch A does the planting , batch B or C does the tending, the harvesting and as well the marketing if need be.

Every state must provide silos for storage after harvesting.

The States should as well partner NYSC and NGOs with the procurement and provision of necessary preservation equipments like cold rooms, drying/heating equipments.

Mills should be built in areas where cereals and legumes are foremost.

Hatchery facilities should also be procured .

Phase 3 - National Orientation

This phase that will also last for two months, takes care of the inter cultural and inter religious relationships of the diverse tribes and religions that make up the country.

Here every corp member must be taught all they need to know about their host community, state and tribe.

This is where the seed of "ONE" Nigeria must be sowed.

Integration and assimilation should be the bed rock of this phase.

In my opinion , the era of one who read Literature in the the Higher Institution, having a god father in NNPC and consequently securing a job in NNPC will be a thing of the past.

A History graduate can no longer serve in CBN because he has an oga at top.

With this plan or restructure every corp member will be highly productive to the nation.

Not this idea of CDS, that doesn't have meaning.

To me this is a better way to go

Very well thought out.
God bless you. I don't see, however, how this may stop the "oga at the top" syndrome. The CDS was initiated to integrate the corp members into their host society.
