Honestly, only an ignoramus or a mischief maker would deny this fact Nigerian petroleum products have been finding their way to Benin for decades even when all our refinery were working full blast. My first time in Cotonou in 2004 I think, I saw petrol in all odd shapes of containers being sold openly on the streets and there were filling stations also which were virtually empty. My host informed me that the roadside fuel is from Nigeria it is cheaper and of better quality than the fuel at the filling stations which were mostly imported from Libya.

Yes their is usually complicity with the custom officials to smuggle fuel but you will find out also that a lot of ingenious methods are involved in the smuggling which makes it difficult to stop. Normal vehicles are fitted with extra tank capacities to move between Nigeria and the Benin, it is smuggled disguised as other products like coconut and groundnut oil, and it was widely known that most filling stations along the Idiroko and Seme borders on the Nigerian side hardly sell fuel to motorists at all. Talk less of the porous borders along Saki and further up north,

The best way to discourage the smuggling is to adjust the price accordingly. Do not forget that during Buhari-Idiagbon era there was death sentence penalty for smuggling fuel and yet this did not deter the smugglers

I grew up around the boarder area and I am over 40years of age but I grew up to know about the smuggling along the boarder areas which means people has been smuggling out our subsidized petrol products for over 40years .


There's no way Nigeria can develop with the continuation of the subsidy regime and it must go if we are sincere about wanting the best for this country

Nissan credits itself as the first automaker to comply with Nigeria’s new automobile policy, as Stallion Motors says it recognizes that the demand for brand-new automobiles in Nigeria grows every year and that doing so can only benefit the country and the company.

Hyundai’s KONA Electric is the first electric vehicle manufactured in Nigeria, launched in November 2020, by Stallion Group Automobile.

Dangote Peugeot Automobiles Nigeria (DPAN)

Peugeot cars were initially produced in Nigeria by Peugeot Automobile Nigeria (PAN), which is separate from DPAN that now produces the brand’s vehicles.

DPAN was a product of collaboration including the Kaduna State Government (KDSG), Dangote Industries Limited (DIL) and PSA Groupe (the parent company of Peugeot), which decided to build a plant in Kaduna State for assembly of the Peugeot brand, with popular models such as the 301, 206, 306, 307, 406, and 607.

Lanre Shittu Motors (LSM)

With the potential to manufacture 2500 vehicles annually, the auto assembly became a household name with the MAC and JAC heavy-duty trucks in October 2018. LSM is a certified KIA, NISSAN, and Jinbei Bus dealer.

Globe Motors

One of the largest vehicle franchise owners, with Mercedes, Toyota, Hyundai, and the Higer brands, since March 1984.

Hyundai launched its first locally built automobiles in 2020 through Globe Motors, the company’s largest distributor in Nigeria.

Models such as the Hyundai i10 Grand, Hyundai Accent, Hyundai Elantra, and Hyundai ix35 have been produced.

Coscharis Motors

It was founded in 2014 and began producing Ford Rangers vehicles.

Coscharis Motors Assembly Ltd is a Coscharis Motors company that is a Ford vehicle assembler for the Nigerian market. The Ford F-150 pickup truck was the facility’s first vehicle.

Coscharis, Nigeria’s largest distributor of BMW, Land Rover, Rolls-Royce, and Ford vehicles, finished its Ford assembly factory in 2018, with intentions to produce 10,000 to 20,000 cars per year.

The reasons for low turnout at DA's inauguration is not due to nonperformance or rigging but it's due to the fact that majority of the populace chose to monitor Tinubu's inauguration on tv instead.


I heard a group in my area and we were duly invited to the event at kuto stadium but instead of attending that one I fuelled my generator and we all gathered to monitor the Abuja event on the tv .

Go and look at Sanwo-olu inauguration ceremony too and you will see how scanty that events too
