As we all know that our Igbo country men are very hard working and business people. Igbo is one of the 3 largest ethnic groups in Nigeria and it constitute different sub ethnic groups.

I know what's common to all the constituent sub ethnic groups is hard work and wealth. However I want to know what sub ethnic is the most wealthiest among the igbos.

Note: I am not talking about Anambra as a state. I mean sub ethnic group of Igbo.

Ijebu are Yorubas

Ijebu Came out of the Pre Oduduwa Obatala dynasty of Ife kings
But many Ijebu Towns were also Founded by the Oduduwa dynasty of kings
Towns like Ikorodu and Ijebu Ife

At the end of it all they are still Yorubas some Ijebu Kings like Akarigbo are of Obatala dynasty Ancestry but Awujale himself is of Oduduwa descent though the people who he met on Ground were Aborigines of Obatala y

But Some very Ancient Yoruba Towns like Owo are not even of Obatala descent but of Oramfe descent

The Oramfe were the Founders of Ile Ife

Still all of them are Yorubas
I genuinely want to know if there's any other Yoruba subgroup that's wealthier than the Ijebu.

I had this discussion with a friend and he mentioned Ijesha and Egba.

Use your brain abeg. Since 27th Feb that this started, average of the 1588 BDC have received let’s say $40k each.

Thats just like $64milliom. So how does that translate to $900m from the foreign reserves?

Do you know Nigeria has obligations we pay from that same reserve? I just laugh at how you guys come out to claim stuffs without any fact.
Yes we had Foreign debt we paid from the reserve. I don't want to argue blindly. I will try and tally the figures and timeframe first.

And I only asked to understand. You don't have to be rude.

Whether it is 1200, 900, 500, 200 or N1:$1.
The goal is to drive it as low as possible to set a deep floor for the naira before the inevitable depreciation resumes.
This time I expect there to be a touch of speculative attack.

You were and still been given free hand abroad, you are still failing.
Name one tangible business you have abroad that can compete with the massive ones owned by Yorubas.
You have none.
Except illicit drugs.
We all have bad eggs, including Yoruba but please name one Igbo company abroad.

Yorubas have many.Do you want Yoruba to compete with you when you have nothing, you are just noise without substance?

Ok,mention one Igbo company that is up to 35 years even in Nigeria.
None,You always kill, liquidate your company due to incompetence and grave laziness.

Only Yorubas have businesses that are more than 120,100,90,80 years and still kicking.

How will a people that are doing very much better than you in business compete with you?
can you mention some of the Yoruba owned businesses that are more than 100 years, sir?

Thank you. This is simply what those two dumbos can't comprehend.

However, this is not how it's done. I mean we cannot do proper comparison like this. It's not really about mentioning individuals. I can mention ijebus too. If it's by mentioning icons Anioma cannot even match the Egba people or a subgroup from Anambra.

The right way to do it is to bring list of top ten in any field and compare Ijebu representation to Anioma's. With my observations so far, Ijebu beats any other subgroup.

Nnewi existed as a monarch since 1498. That should answer your question about it being a subgroup-or not.

You did not attach any proof that Ijebus have more millionaires and billionaires than others in your original post either.

I hope you are not just spoiling for a fight 🤷🏾‍♂️
Some of you especially people from Anambra are always driven by ego. Someone made a bogus statement that Nnewi/Onitsha has the highest billionaires and millionaires in Nigeria, instead of you to stop him from making such ridiculous statement, you are trying to support.

You asked me to bring proof of Ijebu having more millionaires and billionaires. Well, I never stated that ijebu has more millionaires andn billionaires than others. What i said was that I noticed ijebu is the most wealthy and successful subgroup in Nigeria. And Ijebu has more billionaires than any Igbo subgroup on forbes for you info.

Nnewi or Onitsha is not a subgroup, they are both cities in the East. Stop trying to be clever by half.

Igbo is not a subgroup. Is Nnewi a tribe? And Where's your proof they have more millionaires and billionaires than others.

I was talking about the whole Nigeria. You said "among Yoruba, yes" which means there's a subgroup from the Hausa or Igbo or ijaw that's more successful than them. So the onus is on you to mention that subgroup or tribe.

CultureIs Ijebu The Most Successful Group In Nigeria by Justmesagi(op): 2:58pm On Dec 11, 2023
People like Reno and others believe Ijebu and Yoruba aren't the same. But for me, Ijebu, as much as Oyo, Ondo, Ekiti, is Yoruba.

I am fascinated by their festival (Ojude Oba) and exploits. So I digged in deeper about them. I discovered many of the wealthy and successful Yoruba people are Ijebus. Adenuga, Otedola, Alakija, Tope Awotona, Adebayo Ogunlesi -- all forbes rated dollar billionaires.

Also, I noticed many list rating top successful people in various fields have people of Ijebu descent dominating it especially if it's about business and enterpreneurship.

Is there any subgroup from the West or East or North or South or middlebelt that's more successful than the Ijebu people in Nigeria?

Note: this is not to cause disunity among my Yoruba people. I know Ijebu is Yoruba.

I noticed tribal bigotry is not only confined, to a large extent, to Nairaland again, it has permeated every social media platforms especially Twitter, Facebook and Clubhouse.

I also noticed other than Yoruba and Igbo that usually at each others neck, other ethnicities like Ijaw, Hausa, Fulani, Ikwere, Nupe have joined the fray.

Don't take my words for it, just go on these platforms listed and you will see for yourself.

Unfortunately, in recent times, I noticed it's now on ground (physical) and fast spreading.

What happens to the "we are just catching cruise, we cannot do this in real life" comments that some usually makes each time they are reminded that what they spew online might permeate and influence the psychology of the people on ground?

How can we curb this menace?

Rwanda 1994 should be a case study for what we are playing with can degenerate into.
