Can we now infer from this competition that Nigeria is a failed country. We wish we were the giant of africa but the reality is not reflecting that. This sort of competition that's not consist of USA, Jamaicans etc. should be an opportunity for Nigeria to shine, but no, it's still f9.
Don't tell me "shebi we won two gold". If you cannot recognise failure or you want to be complacent with failure, that's your problem.
Nigeria needs to wake up. |

No wonder our medal tally is so low. Most athletes competing for Nigeria are local champions. |

Ibkhaleel: The same way you want to be given presidency on quota system
SW and SE people are overrating themselves and their capabilities. If Northerners decides on a northerner to be president, you can’t do anything, a northerner can rule Nigeria till eternity and you lack the power and political number to pull him down!
you curse Nigeria day and Night and expect things to well with you?
you ridicule the north and call them all sort of names...
yet you want to be given the presidency on Quota basis...lol
The North is politically superior, calm, calculating, generous and accommodating.
The south lacks all these ATTRIBUTES. We are a family; our religious and cultural diversities not withstanding. The south makes noises, insults and blame us when things do not go their way. Stop being overly emotional over little prod from unknown people on Nairaland. There's ten we can do if you decide to rule for eternity so stop deceiving yourself and feeling unnecessarily pompous. Your leaders know this that's why many want power to return to the South. |

But Nigeria is really not productive relative to its population. Look at Australia with a population of approximately 25 million dominating the medal table with 52 medals. Even New Zealand with just 5 million population is third on the medal table. Even our african colleague country, South Africa, has 6 medals to its name on the table. But as usual, the giant of failure Nigeria, with a population of over 200 million, has just 3 medals to its name.
This country has to be restructured or completely disintegrated. |

If religion is preventing the women from doing some sport why are their men missing too? It will be good if they can also represent us in what rhey are good at like you rightly observed. It will increase our chances of medals. |

I mean what concerns Ibos and the just concluded Osun election? If it doesn't concern them why are their property being destroyed? They are Nigerians and they have every right to exercise their fundamental right of electing or being elected for any where in the country. This is wrong and condemnable so every sane unbiased person should condemn it. |
Politics › Igbo Could Be The Best If They Find The Missing Piece by Justmesagi(op): 2:47pm On Jun 10, 2022*. Modified: 5:31pm On Aug 22, 2022 |
Yes. I ponder day and night on this. Igbos are great. They are resilient. They are high achievers. They are the envy of other groups in Africa.
They could have been the best in Africa arguably if Yoruba is not in this continent. But they are lacking in something that the Yoruba has. I don't know it. This should be the task of Igbo intellectuals.
I don't think the Hausa or Fulani is the problem of the Igbo. They shouldn't see the Yoruba as the problem either, rather they should see them as a group to learn that particular missing something from and then surpass them in it.
Apart from politics, what area of human endeavour can Hausa/Fulani match the Igbo? Which other tribe in Nigeria or Africa can match the Igbo? But this is not so in comparison with the Yoruba.
Nigeria today is in turmoil because no real or effective opposition to curtail the excesses of the ruling party. When Yoruba is in the opposition party we all know how they kept the ruling parties on their toes from the 50s.
There is one thing sophisticated about Yoruba that the Igbo needs to learn to surpass them! |
