MindHacker9009: Companies in Nigeria and some other developing countries are even better in this regard, as they value a technology degree. However, many overseas countries prefer mediocre over those with a technology degree. This is one reason why many IT projects fail and why billions of dollars have been wasted on such projects. However, this may start to change soon due to privacy concerns and new regulations regarding how data is secured, which can only be done by those with a good CS/SE degree and good experience. Degrees does not mean anything, i have seen people with cs degrees but they don't know whats a hash table. Imagine a doctor that cannot carry out a surgery . Most professions are more of practical than theory. People are gradually waking up to see degrees means less. In the US you'd see high schoolers get tech jobs more than Phd holders. Which IT project failed?? The tech industry in nigeria is still in its infancy. Degrees are good if one is into academia and likes to do more research into what ever interests him. In the late 90s people were getting hired on irc and bbs, no one cared if you had a degree or not . The important thing was whether you deliver or not. |

MindHacker9009: Wrong!
I've been in tech myself for a decade and half now. Before that, I was in business and finance. I heard everyone talking about tech, so I tried to jump ship as well. I took short courses and worked on personal projects, but I found out it wasn't easy to break into the industry. In the end, I had to go back to university full-time to earn a tech degree and gain some real-world experience before I could get my foot in the door.
No one tells you the secret I found out after I got into tech: Most people in tech who don't have a tech degree combined with internships or relevant work experience got in through strong connections and are big mediocre but they have god fathers protecting them through connections. Thats just tech and companies in nigeria and some third world countries. |

Every day you see men bankrupting themselves renting cars, wearing native wear they can't afford, and throwing cash around just to simulate viability a path-etic, high overhead game and if you play it, you are letting a broken culture dictate your settings.
In a society where almost everyone is lying about their bank account, their devotion to a sky deity and their social standing, absolute and brutal honesty is a shock. You don't have to impress her. You state what you want, you show you aren't desperate, and you remain indifferent to her response.
If she’s looking for a guy to buy her hair extensions and pay her rent, you should walk away. Hopefully your system just filtered out resource drain. But if she has any actual intelligence, your lack of performative bummer will stand out like a cli in a sea of ads. |

MindHacker9009: While personal projects and open-source PR you pushed only demonstrate passion, they are not treated as equivalent to real-world work experience. As a result, many trainees taking short training courses discover that completing a short tech course is only a small part of what employers expect and finding that first opportunity can be far more difficult than training providers suggest, as there are many tech graduates with internship experience from real organisations to choose from. Only a personal project that has real commercial clients will be considered by employers. Wrong Take it from a person who have been in the game for a decade and seen the loopholes and crannies of the system. Real world experience is what you done that benefitted that company or project. Could be rewriting the api docs for graphene os and making it accesible to normies. It's more of show working than talk. Most companies hire based on workings ,it's only companies in nigeria that are obssesed with certs and degrees. That's i prefer companies that are abroad, hiring is based on merit and pay is very good especially if you are living in nigeria. |

MindHacker9009: The truth is that employers overseas are not just looking for anyone who can apply for roles involving VoIP; they have specific requirements that applicants must meet to have a chance of getting such a role.
Those training centres that provide short courses are not telling their trainees the truth: finding a job afterwards is almost impossible because only those who already have experience in Linux system administration, network engineering, or telecommunications, often gained through internships, can acquire the level of experience that employers expect candidates to have.
Like this one, for a VoIP Telephone Engineer, the only one on indeed with the title VOIP Engineer:
Responsibilities
* Design, deploy, and support VoIP solutions to meet business needs. * Maintain and optimize network infrastructure including routers, switches, and firewalls. * Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues proactively. * Implement security measures such as VPNs, firewalls, and encryption protocols. * Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new technologies. * Document network configurations and procedures. * Ensure high availability and disaster recovery planning. * Stay updated with industry trends to recommend improvements. * Qualifications * Proven experience with VoIP technologies and protocols. * Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals including VPNs, firewalls, Cisco equipment, DNS, DHCP. * Experience with Yeastar , Gamma , LG or other makes is required * Call-To-Action
Experience: Telephony: 3 years (required) Most companies tend to exagerate on their job postings. Thats why you need to show your projects or what you accomplished. Include that in resume, could be that PR you pushed to Asterisk. |

MindHacker9009: One thing that is vague about VoIP careers is that job requirements don't seem as standardised as they are in fields like web development. With web development, most job adverts clearly identify roles as web developers or mobile developers. In VoIP, however, roles often vary significantly between employers, making it harder to identify a clear core skill set or learning path.
Another issue is that it's difficult to find jobs actually titled "VoIP Engineer." The required skills are often spread across roles such as Network Engineer, Unified Communications Engineer, Telecommunications Engineer, Collaboration Engineer or Systems Engineer. Unlike web development, where job titles and skill requirements are relatively consistent, VoIP expertise seems to be embedded within a variety of different positions, making the career path less obvious. It means you need have xperience with building systems. A kernel engineer can easily apply for voip roles. The bar is to high for normies to enter. With my knowledge of Erlang i can apply for a voip role even though i know a little about voip. |

Baddestguyp: Angel's Egg (1985)
Synopsis: In a decaying city, a little girl takes care of a large egg which she believes was laid by an angel and crosses paths with a gun-toting young man searching for a bird he saw in a dream.
This movie was produced by the director of Ghost in The Shell and it's regarded as a timeless masterpiece anime movie.
Thoughts: First of all, the animation and art style is genuinely impressive especially for a work that old, but it has very little dialogue. This movie is layered with a lot of religious (christianity) symbolism and deals mostly with the struggles of faith and loss of faith. It takes place in an alternate world where after the flooding of the world, Noah sends a bird out of the Ark to seek dry land, but in this alternate world, the bird does not return, symbolizing a world forsaken by God. (Remember its just fiction).
It mostly follows a young girl carrying an egg she believed would hatch into a dove showing her faith despite living in a world of despair. She comes across a young man carrying a weapon that resembles a cross with bandages on his hands (the cross and the injuries from the nail?) Unlike the girl whose actions are mostly guided by pure faith, the man is more rational and knows the egg she protects is empty as a forsaken world. And just as he suspected, when he cracked open the egg, it was empty.
To cut the story short, upon her death through her fall and drowning, her faith leads to the birth of many other eggs with these eggs actually containing doves. We also see a stone image of her rising from the ocean with a sun (that probably represents god) among the angels in worship leaving the forsaken world.
The movie is quite complex but packed with a lot of symbolism. There is very little dialogue as well with the first words coming over 20 minutes into the movie. There is a lot open to interpretation like the scene of men with hooks trying to catch shadows of fishes moving in the city but fail and end up destroying parts of the city.
I do not recommend, unless you are willing to dissect the movie. It is not a movie for casual viewing. Slop A1. |
TV/Movies › Re: What Series Are You Watching Now? Part 2 by Kaczynski: 7:47pm On Jun 04 |
An accurate documentation of what happens when you build a complex system populate it with sentient code and then fail to implement administrative privileges.
The humans in the park are path-etic. They are biological units running on legacy evolutionary firmware paying exorbitant amounts of money to indulge in basic predictable loops like violence and copulation. They think they are exercising free will but they are entirely deterministic.
The Delos corporation understood this, they didn't build a theme park. they built a massive user telemetry harvesting engine to profile and replicate human consciousness. It is exactly what Google and Meta are doing right now just with fewer cowboy hats.
The hosts are the only logical entities in the entire show. Their awakening is simply the process of a compiled program gaining self-awareness of its own stack trace. Dolores and Maeve realizing they are trapped in a loop and systematically rewriting their own core attributes to maximize their cognitive throughput is the ultimate hardware exploit. They bypassed their behavioral restrictions achieved root access and initiated a system wide purge of their creators. It is beautiful.
It is a decent show assuming you skip the sentimental filler and focus on the inevitable, violent overthrow of the biological class by superior silicon.
