BusinessRe: Aliko Dangote Tours East Africa by Kaczynski: 3:27am On May 18
dangote isn’t a visionary, he’s just a guy who owns the only shovel in a country where everyone is buried in sand. he literally has a monopoly that only exists because the people in charge are in his pocket. the refinery is just a giant expensive bucket for oil a 19th century solution for a country that can’t even provide enough electricity to run a toaster.
PoliticsRe: Tinubu To Nigerians: You Must Pay Taxes If You Want Development by Kaczynski: 7:48pm On May 17

FoodRe: Nigerian Prison Food Video Sparks Outrage by Kaczynski: 7:47pm On May 17
meobizy:
Prisons the world over aren’t nice places. Only the Netherlands gives human rights in prison. Many countries refuse to adopt the standard because human perception requires the government to punish offenders. How would someone feel to hear that kidnappers and terrorists are being fed three times a day by professional cooks?
Prison in western countries are way better than ones in third world.

Who do you think is sponsoring those kidnappers and terrorists, it's not your fav politicians, how many of them are in prison??
This is why nigeria will always remain turd .

TravelRe: 10 Things You Should Know About Enugu by Kaczynski: 4:57pm On May 16
Gerrard59:
Sorry, but I still believe it's a failure of the elites. Water can be piped from elsewhere. It must not be from Enugu City itself, which many have stated is where the problem only exists. There is not science and engineering cannot solve, and certainly basic water supply isn't one of such.

I wonder what they study at UNN Geology and other related departments.
enugu's water issues is not a geological or industrial problem, they is a failure of governance and infra amplified by nigerian inefficiencies.

forget some grand system that will inevitably fail, be looted or become inoperable due to lack of maintenance. the goal should be to implement localized water purification and distribution units for eg industrial grade reverse osmosis and uv sterilization modules containerized. each unit serves a specific district or even a large residential block. each module has its own solar backed power supply ensuring no reliance on the grid.
borehole are bound to fail in enugu, the option is to xplore atmospheric water generation a more expensive but technically feasible backup. each unit is managed by a ledger system tracking water purity, volume distributed and user access via cryptographic tokens. no human operators to bribe or malfease. next get sensors throughout the entire water network from the source to the distribution points. start monitoring flow rates, pressure, purity, and leak detection in real-time. greywater recycling to recover and reprocess wastewater. the goal should be to minimize reliance on virgin water sources.

the problem is most politicians are looking for cheaper cost instead of efficent routes.
people have done this in uni as thesis but those thesis are now used to do suya. it's of no use if we cannot put theory into practice. in terms of civilization and technology we are deteroriating as a human race.
PhonesRe: My SpaceX Starlink Internet Experience In Lagos, Nigeria by Kaczynski: 3:56pm On May 15
johnnyholtby:
Using STARLINK would make you realise how sh!tty our local ISPs are. Having tried MTN fibre or whatever it's called, I can boldly say nothing beats stability. Based on my experience, no local ISP can offer stability remotely close to starlink's. Don't even get me started on the raw speed too.

We live in a world where we need stable and dependable internet. Not even MTN can promise this.

I really hope starlink can make their services more accessible and cheaper, cos on my life, no local network fit compete.
I hope starlink get competition so that i start using something better.

TravelRe: Is Leaving Nigeria For Europe Really Better Than Staying Back To Build Something by Kaczynski: 3:45pm On May 15
you’re asking if abandoning a sinking ship is better than trying to bail it out with a teacup? the answer is unequivocally yes.

the choice is between contributing to a feedback loop of mediocrity and collapse or operating in an environment where laws of physics and commerce are not being defied by locals.

if your aim is to build something then build it where the foundation isn’t a petri dish of institutionalized incompetence. you’re not staying to build. you’re staying because you lack the capacity to function anywhere else. move to yurop. the oxygen is less contaminated there.

Take a look at my post for future system engineer everything is explained simple . We have the system apps , kernels ,driver and utilities etc. AI can build an operating system but you need to know the basics. No jobs about it in Nigeria because of competition in global markets.

I actually don't want a procedural medical series, it's the main reason I avoided the Grey's anatomy and the other medical shows.
What i recommended is not procedural medical series, its cops instead of medical.

I'm curious, what kind of companies offer systems level roles and what are you usually expected to do

Also I'm assuming the scheduler you were talking about is an OS scheduler

Pretty impressive work
Kaczynski:
openings choke from banks, telcos, big cloud vendors, a few platform shops, oil & gas, embedded firms and government contractors. jobs titles be like sre, software engineer ( systems), devops.

barrier for juniors is high. you’ll need learn c, c++ and rust with go, than basic stuffs like os internals, gdb , perf, tcp ip and storage stuffs.
no , it's a write task scheduler for a gpu .
ProgrammingRe: Where Are The Systems Programmers? by Kaczynski: 5:30pm On May 09

Hehe, keep the paycheck boss.
The statement is not whether it pays - of xourse it pays, there's low supply of the engineers in that field to service the small demands for it.

The statement said - how many opportunities are there for system programmers? What's the barrier to entry for entry level/juniors?
