Kinda meh, tbh...

This promised a gritty crime drama but ultimately delivered an unnecessary family drama for 90% of the time.

The plot, which was illogical, btw just meanders into various subplots and turns into a bit of a mess as the show goes on. They had this mid-season shootout showdown, which quite frankly should have been the end. After that, they had nothing of note left to show, just unnecessary, over-the-top, sloppy drama under the guise of tying up loose ends, which I frankly had zero care for. So I just fast-forwarded till the end.

Worse still, the 1-hour runtime per episode was overkill, as the plot simply didn’t have the juice to justify it. They threw in a “good guy working with the bad guys” twist for shock value, but it had very little effect on me, I was already tapped out by then.

The casting choice was also questionable. I like Mark Ruffalo, but I don’t think he can lead a Boy Scouts troop, let alone an FBI task force aiming to solve a crime like this. He just lacks the poise and demeanor to pull it off.

The shot was solid, and the score was nice and that’s pretty much all I enjoyed.

A difficult recommend if you’re expecting something in the ranks of other HBO crime dramas before it.

Why is it that nobody in this group has ever discussed about the Chinese entertainment industry?
Ladies and gentlemen we are missing premium entertainment.

I mistakenly stumbled upon this Chinese series called "Blood River" and it's been one of my best discoveries ever.
The series will first confuse you, when it started, i thought it was Anime and i wanted to delete but after 10 minute, that's how i was addicted.
Can i shock you?
I binge watched 21 episodes at a go
Even me, i couldn't believe myself. Lol
I think it's a 36 episode series and i am currently waiting for the rest episodes to drop.

Currently it's amongst my top 3 best series of 2025 so far.
I am now a fan of Chinese series and i will be seeing more Chinese series after this .

It's not Anime but fans of Anime will love it so so much and if you are not a fan of Anime but you want to feel the hype on Anime.

This is the perfect series for you.
