Very good poem. We all need to channel our pen strenght for national change. Our mentors did it for colonial independence, we could do it for a change also. Political poems is one strong weapon for peaceful revolution or change. |
My men, poem on point. Reminded me of my street ack when growing up. |
I'm a young guy of 25 who completed his NYSC June 2013. Though I'm yet to secure a job,I move on quite well. . There is this beautiful girl I met three weeks ago. Our meeting wasn't romantic but there was this indescribable spark between us. I went to her moms provision store to get some items and there she was, looking ravishing and irresistible... I fell for her that instant. We exchanged pleasantries and I took her phone number. from that day, ther hasn't been a day she doesn't call to ask about my wellbeing although not as often as I do call her. I started asking her out a week after we met but she has been rejecting me. She claims she likes me a lot but she doesn't want to go into a relationship that will lead nowhere. I made her understand that I have good intention for her. To cut the story short, she has come up with another excuse that she is not good enough for me that I deserve better. She kept saying that she is yet to gain admission into a tertiary institution while I have finished and even served. I tried making her understand that it ain't a bad thing, that while she is schooling,I'd be working for our future.moreover, she is still very young.she is just 21. But she said she doesn't buy the idea. That I should look for someone who will be of no stress to me. Last time she called me, I brought up the issue and all she said was that she likes me a lot but I should forget about her. . Now, this is the problem, initially, I was thinking she was playing hard to get but at this juncture I'm really confused. Should I let her go or should I keep pestering her to give in to my proposal? Please I need advice. I really like her and would want to work some thing out with her. God willing,I want to make her my wife.
bros do u realy want to marry her, y u kon dey lie 4 d whole world na? stop it, i don't like it oo |

I THOUGHT YOU SAID . Each day, I sit and wonder Of what you said and I shudder. I thought you said You were different I thought you said The poor were your mandate I thought you said Our lives would be better I thought you said Only if we vote you to power I thought you said You grew with no shoes And I am still thinking We were played for the fools. . I thought you said There would be love and unity I thought you said There would be jobs and electricity I thought you said We should give you a chance I thought you said You understood our economic and mental trance I thought you said You were the man for the people And I am still thinking All I see is blood and evil. . I thought you said But why is the blood getting thicker? I thought you said But why is love getting thinner? I thought you said Where did you take grandpa? I thought you said Where is the truth in the lie? I still sit but in motion There was once no nation. . . Happy independence Nigeria God bless Nigeria God bless our president God bless all of us |
THE TWIN RIVERS I met a river in labour Heavy from the stomach to the mouth She asked me for a little a favour If she could flow to the north or south. I asked her if she flowed at ease To decide if she flows west or to the east But she said she wasn’t a nurse But she knew she bore in her twin rivers. I didn’t comprehend her words or thoughts But felt pity because she had fever. She said she shall name one river Niger To the other, she would name river Benue. All these she did to impress her hubby, Niger-area Who friends and foes preferred to call Nigeria |
KAJO Life is a great mystery That metamorphoses in three’s The first an endearing part With lots of admiration and pacts The second, always on a move Seconded by reasoning and prove The third is a sweet-sour taste of life Vindicated by only those that strived |
JESAM I called, yes! I called not once Not twice, not today, not sure My state, she measured in ounce And behold I called her my anchor She is black, she is Africa, and she is beautiful She is dark, she is Amara, and she is adorable I call her not today, definitely not tomorrow I call her when I feel love and sorrow She is a cumin, she is a dove It is she I would call love. FREEDOM O Freedom, where thou at Your children, on thou part Seeking your sweet act Carried on your soothing cart We knock, O thou on your door Come and make us free once more We roll on sack clothes, weeping Just for your minute blessing Freedom! You are sweet and we know that Freedom! On our lips and we speak-out Freedom to go wherever Freedom to empower a leader. Freedom! Could be soured in excess A controversial ceaseless menace But Freedom, is good that I know Freedom, is judged with my soul I wear my freedom My vision becomes clearer I wear my freedom My voice is heard louder I wear my freedom I say you are a bad leader I wear my freedom I know my country is on a wrong ladder Freedom! Come tell us the truth Freedom! Come exert your prove Freedom! My actions, are they good? Because Freedom is all good We are free, Freedom is that so? We claim to be; only Freedom knows What does it mean to know freedom? An obligation for the next generation |
OH MY AFRICA A sound is heard in Africa The sound of bitter weeping Africa is crying for Her offspring’s Refuses to be comforted For they are about dying! The children, pride of the mother But now, there is great disorder While Africa stares and mourns Whilst her offspring’s is gone with the storms Can there ever be a remedy? Maybe it might end-up being deadly Till then Africa looks-up to the sky And weeps the tears of her eye Oh my! Oh my! Africa |
ADVENTURE OF RAPHAEL I sail through the darkened quagmire Leaving behind, not a mile. On the port of oblivion I meet sire I kiss the ground, saying “Sir”. Go forth and go out of the mire Cut the thorns and piercing wires. He sayeth unto me And I heeded to thee. This adventure not thus my desire Nonetheless, on this route I ply Night befalls me on the sly The night-crawlers heavenly fly In my stomach a reviling cry Food for thought, just a fry It’s movements to and fro, so wry. The second day consciously born Enslaved to the impending sun My attire quaintly worn, Now vigorously torn. One moon-light gone in my slum A new ego-bum Transpired below average norm Sailing to the records of a worm. I am just an everyday Tom My service digs-up my tomb. Third day my visions exposed A delightful imbroglio A clear dominion imposed Flattened to an embryo. Dink, ding, dang My shattered nerves bang And my bones in gangs Shoot-out rather familiar tangs Shuddering bodily slangs Rendezvous in brain-bands Omnipresent classic yin-yang In an altitude of magical wand. Mission rendered was no wangle But least expected the crawling tangle In darkness again my soul mingles And the tooth in the coldness tingles In my faint thoughts, I cuddle Back and forth in darkness cradle. Fourth day, an exposé to reality Totally lost the sense of sanity Commensuration and tenacity A hopeless vanity. And now my memory fails me While my visions keeps playing tricks I see my son in the garden of greens We play round and round, his laughter so real But the air in my trachea, cut loose I lay flat on my adventures noose. |

TALE OF AN EMPTY HEART alone in the fields my heart longs, for love, life, and air for my lungs, fresh, flowing from supernatural source, a little bit of hope for a black dunce, pure, not of a tempest torture, in history lies the days i clamor, reminiscing the past, the present has no future, what of life? i dwelt in peace in her harbor, at this time in shields and armors, attacked, beaten, torn to shreds by vultures, my heart survives the take but longs for another, another, if there could be another dear mother? then i would worship the breast that gave milk, and i would bless the hands that fed me. a sad tale, right in the heart of the Sahara, amidst the mystical mist of the Savannah. yes deadliest beautiful one, dearest ugly one, i come to your doorstep, with water and blood, in your reign, i came to know war, on your throne, i ate my spinal cord, but in one accord, lets raise our hearts high lets drink, lets dine, lets dance, let us all die. what is the joy of life, please kindly tell me? at the gate of eternity, what is its toll fee? violence comes knocking, yet violence knows love aren't these vices and virtues from one God? one must take today, the other wait for the next forever in an empty heart, i would always bless |
