Flying direct to Abu Dhabi with emirates would cost you over 400,000 naira but alternatively you could travel thus;

Lagos - Dubai with north Vancouver air, its a 9 hours direct flight .

Then take a cab/bus to your location in Abu Dhabi

Bus fares from Dubai - Abu Dhabi is approx: 25 dirham's

Private cab fare from Dubai - Abu Dhabi is approx : 300 dirham

A dirham is approx 98.5 naira

So 25 dirham is approx 2500 for bus fare

300 dirham is approx 7500 for private cab fare

The last bus leaves by 11 pm at the Al- ghubaiba metro station very close to the airport

If you fly with this airline you would be arriving Dubai by 22:55, you won't meet the last bus, so you either choose to go with a private cab or sleep at the airport and wait for the first bus that departs by 6 am.

The bus departs every 20 mins

Just you know when you enter the public bus front seats are reserved for ladies and children

Point of entry or their embassy in abuja

To get a better and cheaper fare for your travel, plan and buy your tickets a month before travel, preferably Wednesdays and Sundays. Most of the time fares are cheaper on Wednesday and Sunday.


Prior to peak season try getting your tickets a at least a month to peak seasons, fares are more expensive during peak seasons

Peak seasons are:

Mid July - early September ( summer period )

Mid November - mid January ( winter season/Christmas break )

If you just want to spend a day or two in Dubai you for the transit visa, unless you go for a tourist visa

@kagari, can you help me with flight fares from Lagos to Vienna, Austria. A return ticket through Ethiopian airlines from 15 June to 9 July.

Any possibly cheaper airline, route will be just fine.

There isn't a cheaper fare for that route, there are direct flights to Vienna : Ethiopia air and KLM but Ethiopia is the cheapest but KLM has the shortest travel time of approx 10 hours plus stop over.

A rough idea of the fare cost for Ethiopia is around 334 000 on the average.

The closest city that would catch your interest should be new york city, approx 7 - 9 hours train ride from Virginia.

I do advice train rides to any other means because it gives you an opportunity to see a city or place from different angles.

You could easily get a train ticket once you done with your official duty,

There are lots of places to visit and take relatively good pictures and have good time in new York but few worthy of mention are

1. Statue of liberty

2. Times square

3. Empire state building

4. Boat tours

5. City park

Etc

Some years back. I had travel plans to visit New York. I bought my ticket to JFK but delayed in booking hotel. Eventually I couldnt find any hotel in Manhattan. I had to choose one in New Jersey. From JFK airport i took a yellow cab to my hotel in New Jersey. Men! We met traffic along the way. The meter was counting. I spent about $170 for the taxi ride to my hotel. You know how much that is in naira. I have been reflecting on a cheaper option i could have used. This train option you mentioned seems to be a cheaper option...

Way cheaper, just ask around, and you would be directed. Though this is the essence of this thread to share ideas of saving travel cost

Bro if its the first you good to go even on the island, but to maximise your fun, get an hotel on Allen road at Ikeja. You could easily work or take short cabs around fun places.

Go on hotels.ng, on the search type Allen avenue hotels would pop out, make your selection, if you confused let me know

Just on that road you have, 3 standard strips, more than 5 clubs, a big sit out ( pekas ), HQ of runs girls in Nigeria, fela shrine not too far, Ikeja mall not too far, etc
