Romance / Re: I Am Getting Married Yet I Am In So Much Pain/ by Kampack: 4:12pm On Nov 08, 2019
Blackfriday:
Please how do one seek God's face in a marriage?..

Do God come down from heaven and give you the wife?

Not everyone will have a supportive wife like yours for 5 years without a job but want I don't understand is you asking him to quit now, even after they are legally married in the eyes of the LAW, so it's okay he leaves the lady while she's pregnant for him (4 months)...wow.

No life journey is easy, the young man has made some mistake already but he should have some balls and face his demons, that is what define successful men, you don't run at face of a any slight obstacle (you don't win that way), good things don't come easy, we all dream of so many beautiful things we want in life but Who says it's going to come like a fairly tale?.

You are married sir and I guess you have children now as well, so should understand how cranky so ladies can become when they are pregnant, coupled with a pressure of planning a marriage, baba... This man should be patient and pray to God for a better days... From his narrative the girls family have been nice to him, willing to support him and the lady herself have been good to him in the past, can't he give it his best instead of running away.... And the truth be told no woman will be happy a man who can't get things done, they don't leave with promises.

To be honest, your words are soothing! they are like oil to help wounds heal!

First time I'll read a post on NL in details, page to page!
Interesting saga. this young man is between the devil and the deep blue sea.

I was once in this boat, but a little different anyway. the only difference between the OP and I, was that he seems weak and emotional. Apparently, the 'bride to be' is taking full advantage of it all!

My strategy: boldy call the shots! declare what you want and stick to your guns. It's alreay too late to chicken out since the court marriage has been done. I just want the OP in control as the man. Tell her what you can afford and what you cant. She can cry you a river! be blunt even to the sister! Don't borrow a dime from the sister or whosoever, that'll sink you further into debt, remember you are already in one - the car loan. Without a steady stream of income, brace yourself for tougher times ahead! Work harder and explore avenues to earn more income. You'll stabilize with time, even though it might take a while.

For that your 'bride', you have a lot to do on that cry baby and drama queen, but you can deal with her by being firm. The match maker (bride sister) be warned, she's a third party - a trojan horse as far as I am concerned. She appears to be nice at the moment because she wants her sister married! After the ceremonies, she'll rudely tell you how she sponsored your borke ass for your wedding and how much of a slothful lazy lily-levered man you are. Thank her for her offer of help but have none of her further interference or financial contribution. The risks of contempt are extremely high!

DO NOT have a hand in spilling the blood of that baby, not even by being mute or playing the 'you can do whatever card', remember the baby is not only innocent, but your child as well!

Above all, pray! It works!

Nairaland / General / IPPIS Controversy: ASUU Suspends Proposed Strike by Kampack: 11:07am On Nov 01, 2019
The Academic Staff Union of Universities has suspended its proposed strike over Federal Government’s directive to enrol its members into the Integrated Payroll Personnel Information System.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that when President Muhammadu Buhari presented the 2020 budget proposal before the lawmakers on Oct. 8, 2019, he vowed that Federal Government Employees not captured on the IPPIS platform by 31st Oct. 2019 would no longer be receiving their salaries.

ASUU President, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, in a phone interview, noted that the union had decided to maintain status quo, pending further meetings.

ASUU had at different fora rejected the deadline, stating that universities operated differently from the civil service and should, therefore, not be seen as appendages of ministries, departments and agencies of government.

“What we have been saying is that the reaction of our members will depend on what happens in the government. Our members will meet at the appropriate time to take the appropriate decision.

“The Senate has intervened in the matter and we are engaging the Senate, the Senate has appealed to us for now, When they pay other workers, they pay them also.”

According to him, the union is proposing another template which would factor in the peculiarities of the universities and promote their interest.

“The point we are making is that we have visited the Senate President, told him that there is an alternative to IPPIS, the IPPIS as we see it, will not promote the interest of the university, there is no university or country in the world where the payment of university workers is centralised with the government.”

On the World University ranking, Ogunyemi stressed that enrolling its members would affect Nigeria’s status, and discourage visiting lecturers come into the system.

“IPPIS will affect our ranking, because now scholars from different parts of the world will not be encouraged to come to Nigeria.

“Imagine somebody come for short six months and because of IPPIS he is not paid from three to four months, whereas, if they are domesticated in the universities, ASUU will pay them.

“Any university can attract scholars from any part of the world and you do not expect scholars to come from India, China, Australia, America or UK and be coming into Abuja to enrol in IPPIS.

“It is ridiculous, and that is what autonomy means, that universities should govern their personnel and their pay role system.

“We are saying it is not safe, we are going to become a laughing stock among the committee of universities.

“In Ghana, there is something like IPPIS, but universities are not part of it. There is nowhere in the world that payroll is centralised and managed by consultants.”

He, however, noted that what the union wanted was a “Governing Council’ that would govern and manage the payroll of ASUU members.

Count yourself lucky and thank God you have someone to instill some sense into your skull from childhood. The way we are brought up determines to a very large extent how we perceive world when we grow into adulthood. Some mothers actually existed who encourage their kids to do anything so far it gets them rich. What sort of adult do you think those kids will grow up into? Some are not even privileged to have anyone to mentor them, they grow up living and learning on the street. Different strokes for different people.
Finally, as much as your mum was good at telling you not to do anything bad, while not trying to disparage her, I want to point out that whatever you can't do around the house shouldn't even be done when you are far from the house. The shame done anywhere will always find its way home. Someone I know used to tell people: whatever you can't wear to church is not good to be worn anywhere. Something is either right or wrong, there can't be two ways around it.
As far as bbn is concerned, in a democratic world, people will always be around with freewill to make choices as it suits them. This is reality we all need to live with..

So apt, I wished I could click the "like" button again ...and again!
