BluntTheApostle: The IPPIS actually shows that government is sincere about education.
The intention of ASUU is what I find questionable.
The IPPIS offers a lot of potential benefits for our education system. I don't understand why ASUU has a problem with it. Don't be fooled. I'm in the system. As a matter of fact, in one of the Federal Universities as an Academic staff. I have read comments on each and every page of this thread with keen interest just to get a view on public perception of the ongoing imbroglio between ASUU & FG. I had no intention of commenting, but you've pushed me into breaking that vow. Summarily put, It's sad my inference suggests that many Nigerians are oblivious of the truth. The situation on ground appears beyond their comprehension. Ignorance has eaten really deep into our society and it's glaring from the comments here. Someone even went as far as claiming her (if she's truly female) dad is a Prof. and earns over N1.4mil - that's not only preposterous but outrightly ludicrous! - broad day blatant lie from a virago, from the pit of hell! FG seems not only smart, but also capitalising on public ignorance to peddle falsehood against ASUU and pull wool to cover residual vision of the many intellectually impaired Nigerians! Fact is, this issue is more complex than the average Nigerian (including our students) can comprehend. It's a shame we choose this path as a nation. Ridiculing education and the last bastions of hope for the profession shouldn't be contemplated. |

toayojj: You are not bothering... it's better to get it right once and for all.
So, for VETASSESS, the ref number isn't really important. They have a way to match docs to its owners. Hence, it is safe to go ahead. Just ensure the appropriate mailing address is indicated on the package and you are tracking the parcel all the way.
For instance, I think they are still on lock down. So, you can send a mail to them with your tracking number and ask that they contact the courier company to redirect the parcel to a preferred address. But ensure you keep tracking, so you can alert them when the parcel gets to Melbourne - I did this for my transcripts, respectively.
All the best! Thanks bro! I think this explains everything. I've checked out the priority route. Bros you try! 400k equivalent no be joke, but will, certainly, be worth the expense on the long run. Best wishes bro! |

toayojj: Hello Kampack
I have both ND & BSc - sent both transcripts. Communicated with VETASSESS till they confirmed receipt before proceeding with the application. I already had all the necessary documents ready for upload.
Once, they confirmed receipt of the first transcript (ND), I uploaded all docs and waited for the confirmation of my second transcript before paying and submitting the application.
Then, a higher degree (MSc/MBA/Phd) would be relevant, if it won't adversely affect the number of relevant work experience you want to claim. Where the experience would be affected, it's better to stick to your BSc and claim your experience from after your BSc (where relevant).
Regards Thanks for the clarification. Your move was smart! One final question please. Sorry to bother you this much. I'm just trying to get things straight. As in WES, was there a 'Reference number' marked on your transcript (generated from VETASSES online platform) enabling vetassess to recognise the sent transcripts as yours? |

toayojj: Just to encourage us all on this journey. I assessed with VETASSESS for Valuer.
I applied for priority process, paid on 11th of September 2020 got receipt on 14th Septemeber 2020 got a mail from VETASSESS approving that I was eligible for priority process 16th September 2020 got my positive outcome letter on 19th September 2020 (date on the letter was even 17th September 2020).
I claimed 11 years plus (including NYSC) work experience, but got 9 years as positive. NYSC wasn't considered and 1 year from my experience (1st employment) was used to calculate the qualifying period required to meet the skill level of the nominated or closely related ANZCO occupation.
meaning, if all is in order, the assessment process is done speedily. I was actually looking forward to September 30th, 2020 (considering the 10 business days timeline for priority process) for the outcome letter and it happened in 4days.
I wish us all the best in the process! Congrats! Just two quick questions please. 1. Did you send all (including undergrad) transcripts to VETASSESS initially, and ensured all transcripts were received by VETASSESS, before applying online or did you scan your transcripts and uploaded in your online application? 2. Is undergrad transcript compulsory even when one has postgrads (e.g MSc/PhD)? Thanks in anticipation for your response. |

Admitwithschola: You don't know what you are saying. Maybe you will make sense with your "hate with passion" if you increase your age range or threshold, though it's never advisable to hate.
Nigeria started getting destroyed in the late 80's and early 90's onward, and those people who suffered the destruction of the country are Nigerians who are now in the age range > 40 and <55. These people were victims. Strike, lack of opportunities, cultism and all those negative stuff were at the peak then. They destroyed many people, very smart people. This was also the time when Nigeria started losing their best brains in LARGE AMOUNTS.
And no, these guys didn't have free meals, university full chicken, yadayadayada, just lool. They also did not have internet and some amenities to cry to the world, voice their opinions and take advantage of opportunities as we have today. I agree that things seem to be more challenging these days for the regular people, which are the majority, but things were not a "cake walk" for the age range I listed above - which interestingly belongs to the set of people you claim to hate.
So, you should adjust your hate threshold - though it is not advisable in any way to "hate Nigerians above 40". And desist from intersecting God and hate. Both don't mix. That's heresy.
And before someone shouts old man, I'm less than 40 but saw what happened to many people in the late 80's and early 90's to date, including to family members. I was about typing exactly these words, but when I read your post, I withdrew from typing it. You are absolutely spot on with the analysis. Infact I couldn't be more correct with the age of those who suffered the mess more (i.e those between 40-55) are the victims of the degenerated Nigeria as things suddenly and sporadically took a drastic turn during their time. Although younger than this age bracket, I was aware of the changes. I recall the incessant power outages starting around early 90s though barely 6yrs old then. In JSS 1, I remember having elder ones in Univ staying long days at home, loosing almost 2yrs to the Abacha era ASUU strike, that lead to many astute professors migrating out of the county. Then admission racketeering followed, etc. Cos I always stayed around my seniors and listened to their complains and frustrations. However, it's now all fully blown out on our faces. I personally think running away will make matters worse for the coming generation. We all have to stay back and rebuild the country. |

mamatwiny: From your terms, I can see you also came from Canada thread so let me use it to relate to you;
189 is like the straight ita on Canada thread, when you get your grant ( PPr in Canada) you can reside anywhere in Australia, but unlike Canada not all jobs groups ( SOL in Aussie, NOc in canny) can apply for this 189. Your Job must be listed on MLTSOL ( meaning jobs that Australia will be needing for a long time) . If your occupation is listed on STSol or ROL ( short term sol or region sol) you can only apply for 190 or 491. 190 is like provincial nomination in Canada while 491 is like Atlantic migration just that you will not be needing a job offer before application like in Canada. 189 is very competitive even for the MTSol occupation, so if your point is not high enough90 and above, it is advised you apply for 190 or 491.
Like Canada provincial nomination, Australia states have their minimum requirements and occupations in demand. You have to visit the states website to know if your occupation is in demand there, if yes, you also know the requirements and method of application. Also note that Aussie is point based similar to Canada. Saskatchewan province in Canadahas a special grid/ ranking , so does ACT have Canberra matrix.
The first step to apply is to get your skill assessment. For Canada, you write your ielts and do your ECA, but Australia own is more advanced than just ECA. Each occupation group has its own accessing body. You have to check the assessing body for your occupation, go to their website and check their requirements. Some require English competency like ielts, or pte academic ( eg EA and the body for teachers) while some do not. Others like TRA require minimum of 3 years experience in the occupation you want to assess. These assessment body in addition to assessing your experience, also assess you qualifications and relevance to the job occupation . For some of these bodies, they deduct 2 to 6 years from your work experience if your qualification is not relevant to the job function, ( eg ACS and Vetasses) while some others it is outright negative outcome ( eg TRA). This is the first major hurdle in processing Australia skilled migration visa.
If you get a possitive assessment, you have to enter the skill select pool by creating account there. In skill select, you can create many profiles unlike in Canada Express entry pool. In Canada, lots of ppl select interested in any province for nomination, but in Australia, you create separate expression of interest ( eoi) for each of the provinces that nominate your occupation. If you receive invite, you apply by submitting your documents. After that comes the nomination. With the nomination, you apply to DHA which is equivalent to CIC in Canada. After some months ranging from 7 months to over 1year after application ( for 190 or 189) visa, the grant comes ( PPr in Canny) . In that grant, you will see your initial entry date ( IED), try to enter Aussie b4 this date.
Now, Aussie application is expensive compared to Canada. You should budget like 2 to 3m for processing/ application fees if you have a family of 3 from skill assessment to grant.
After you get grant, budget from 800k to 1.3m for flight for 1 person.
When you reach your destination, accommodation is another thing. Rent is calculated weekly. Don't fret, it is similar to Canny. Regional areas are cheaper.
When you scale all these, the sky is your starting point as Australia has almost the highest minimum wage in the world.
To answer the last question, they say 491 is the new gold as the competition for 190 is stiff and provinces prefer to give 190 to ppl already working and residing in their state, that does not mean you cannot go ahead and apply for 190 if your points are high enough.
With these few points of mine, I hope I have been able to convince and not confuse you that...... Thanks bro! You are correct about the assumptions that I have surreptitiously sneaked into this thread from the Canada thread. You have also brilliantly illuminated dark areas causing confusion. Infact, your explanation reads a lot more comprehensive than the Aussie govt. Immigration page! I have checked the occupation list, and I think I fall into the 242111 category, I can also see VETASSES against it. The entire process sounds more complex and complicated than the Canny option. . Consistency also seems to be an issue. Sometimes, they say SOL, at other times CSOL, and now I see MLTSSL! My little research suggests not less than 95points will be needed! This is tough! Anyways, thanks for the clarity. It really helped. |

Please, I need clarification here, I have read the first page as well as some some research but not getting much clarification, rather, more confusion. What is the difference between ween subclass 189 and 190? Is it just the POF and the fact that 190 is state nomination? Again, what does state nomination mean? Does it mean that once after application, the different states will be granted access to your profile, and then contact you if they are interested in you? Lastly, in all the subclasses, which has the highest potential for a positive outcome or more flexible?
Thanks |
