Syncan: Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host -
by the Divine Power of God -
cast into hell, satan and all the evil spirits,
who roam throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen.

Rich4god: Day 7
Reflection from... Matt 6:2-4
.
2 “So whenever you give alms, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, so that they may be praised by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward. 3 But when you give alms, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 so that your alms may be done in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
.
The message here is simple... When we give, we shouldnt let anyone know what we are doing in other not to recieve praise from them. In simple form, we shouldnt base our giving on external conditions... Such as; giving to recieve praise from friends: giving in other to impress friends; giving in other to make us look righteous in the eyes of others; giving because we dont want to be singled out as someone who doesnt give or to show that we are equal to the task; giving because others said we should do so or because a condition led to it... These are the type of giving that Christ condems... Rather, Christ is telling us that when we give, we should give because our heart wants to give; we should give because we saw a loop hole in the life of our neighbour and truly wants to fill it; we should give because we know its our duty to give; we should give because we see one another as brothers and sisters in Christ. Let your giving not based on any condition... Take a lot at this scenario from Mr A, Mr B and Mr C who leave side by side to each other.
Mr A is passing through a hard time, so he didnt have much to eat while Mr B and Mr C have enough for theirselve...
So on a sunday, Mr B cooked enough food and puts it in the fridge, hoping that its going to last for days, even though he knows that Mr A dont have anything to eat that day. Unfortunately, there was no light from that time even till the next morning. So Mr B decided to give some of it to Mr A so as to reduce the amount that might waste as a result of power outage.
On the other hand, Mr C knowing that Mr A dont have anything to each, decided to prepare enough food for both of them, after which he gave Mr A his own ration...
Now, among Mr B and Mr C, who do you think is a better neighbour to Mr A.... Both of them gave food to Mr A, but one person gave out of a condition, (in which if the condition is missing, he wouldnt have bothered to give) and the other person gave out genuinly because he wanted to help...
In summary, we should learn to give wihtout any condition and also try not to expect any form of appreciation from those we gave to... For true appreciation and reward comes from God who sees all that we do in this life....

We pray that God will help us to learn how to be a true giver... For its in giving that we recieve.... [s]pardon my grammatical structure... Was typing under duress[/s]
So on point. Thanks a lot dearest
Remain salty and blessed

btoks: Thanks, I've been a keen observer for a few years, rarely commented until recently when I got fed up with the continuous false anti catholic statements from the usuals. It amazes me how they continue to defend sola scriptura when the concept itself cannot be proven from the bible. My fear is really for those catholics not too strong in their faith who get swayed by the comments of these people.

Nice thread, I'll endeavour to pop in as and when I can.

Rich4god: Day 6
Refelection from Mark 10:17-31
.

17 As Jesus was starting out on his way to
Jerusalem, a man came running up to him,
knelt down, and asked, “Good Teacher, what
must I do to inherit eternal life?”
18 “Why do you call me good?” Jesus asked.
“Only God is truly good. 19 But to answer
your question, you know the
commandments: ‘You must not murder. You
must not commit adultery. You must not
steal. You must not testify falsely. You must
not cheat anyone. Honor your father and
mother.’[a]”
20 “Teacher,” the man replied, “I’ve obeyed
all these commandments since I was
young.”
21 Looking at the man, Jesus felt genuine
love for him. “There is still one thing you
haven’t done,” he told him. “Go and sell all
your possessions and give the money to the
poor, and you will have treasure in heaven.
Then come, follow me.”
22 At this the man’s face fell, and he went
away sad, for he had many possessions.
23 Jesus looked around and said to his
disciples, “How hard it is for the rich to
enter the Kingdom of God!”24 This amazed
them. But Jesus said again, “Dear children, it
is very hard[b] to enter the Kingdom of God.
25 In fact, it is easier for a camel to go
through the eye of a needle than for a rich
person to enter the Kingdom of God!”
26 The disciples were astounded. “Then
who in the world can be saved?” they asked.
27 Jesus looked at them intently and said,
“Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But not
with God. Everything is possible with God.”
28 Then Peter began to speak up. “We’ve
given up everything to follow you,” he said.
29 “Yes,” Jesus replied, “and I assure you
that everyone who has given up house or
brothers or sisters or mother or father or
children or property, for my sake and for the
Good News,30 will receive now in return a
hundred times as many houses, brothers,
sisters, mothers, children, and property—
along with persecution. And in the world to
come that person will have eternal life.31
But many who are the greatest now will be
least important then, and those who seem
least important now will be the greatest
then.
.
Jesus said..."How hard is it for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God". He made this statement not just once but twice. Does it mean that its wrong for someone to be rich? Well, for me I dont think so. But Jesus is against the character and attitude that most rich man display. The past two days, our reflection have been about rich men... It means that, as a rich man there is more for you to do. From the passage, the rich man wasnt happy after Christ told him to sell his possession and give it to the poor. So many of us are like that. We find it difficult to use our wealth/resource to help and establish someone in need because we feel its not our duty. We so much portray the spirit of negligence mainly because we dont associate with the poor. As a rich person, we associate with people of our class, work with people of our class, leave in an area that harbours only people of our class, allow only those we know we have business with to visit us... When then will we have time to see and help the poor. Here, Christ just gave us the secret that the rich men of our previous reflection didnt know... "how to build up treasures in heaven"... The other rich men have the resource here on earth, but they couldnt use it to build up treasures in heaven, but here, Christ have given us the secret... By helping the needy with our wealth, we build up treasures in heaven that will be waiting for us on the last day. Just as we see it as a duty to deposit our money in banks, we should also see it as a duty to devout our time building up treasures in heaven...

We pray that God will help us to devout more of our time and resource in helping the needy... For its in given that we get to build up treasures...
Keep them coming sweetheart
God bless you

I have been captivated by these posts from Rich4god(hope he gets seun to change the g to G), messages so ancient yet so new. I rather see out the novena to an end, reading these messages as they come each day, and hoping it makes a better me at the end. God bless you all.

Goodmorning brethren, a splendid day ahead to all.

Rich4god: Day 5
.Reflection from Luke 12:13-21
.

13 Someone in the crowd said to him,
“Teacher, tell my brother to divide the family
inheritance with me.”14 But he said to him,
“Friend, who set me to be a judge or
arbitrator over you?”15 And he said to
them, “Take care! Be on your guard against
all kinds of greed; for one’s life does not
consist in the abundance of possessions.”
16 Then he told them a parable: “The land of
a rich man produced abundantly. 17 And he
thought to himself, ‘What should I do, for I
have no place to store my crops?’18 Then
he said, ‘I will do this: I will pull down my
barns and build larger ones, and there I will
store all my grain and my goods.19 And I
will say to my soul, Soul, you have ample
goods laid up for many years; relax, eat,
drink, be merry.’20 But God said to him,
‘You fool! This very night your life is being
demanded of you. And the things you have
prepared, whose will they be?’21 So it is
with those who store up treasures for
themselves but are not rich toward God.”
.
The lesson in this passage is some what similar to yesterday's own. We neglect the fact that God gave us a command to help the poor ones among us. Taking a look at the passage, we get to see that the man has laboured and has harvested so much in return/as a reward. Watch this, God didnt complain about him "labouring"... But about the way he handled his harvest/wealth. Its not bad for someone to labour hard for his dialy living, its not bad for someone to have so much wealth... But the question is, how do you make use of the wealth/harvest that you have laboured for. Do you just stock it up for yourself without putting into account those around you. Do you raise your shoulder so high in the company of others because you feel you have so much, therefore you dont need to be humble in front of anyone. Do you severe your relatonship with your friends/brothers/relations because you feel comfortable with your wealth and so dont need their relationship anymore. Do you associate with people of your class because you see the others as inferior to you. Do you make investment/expenditure just for youself (and your nuclear family) without putting into consideration your relations/neihgbours who are in need. Do you use your wealth to trample on the right of others and surppress justice for the needy. Do you try to build up treasures for yourself in heaven by using the wealth you have here on earth. Remember the bible passage where Christ said we should build up treasures for ourself in heaven where thiefs cannot break in and nothing can destroy it.
Today, God is telling us to use our wealth wisely, for we dont know the day that we will leave this earth, and the wealth that we so much cherish and laboured for will end up in the hands of someone who didnt even contribute a dime to it...
.
We pray today that God will help us to not only build up wealth on earth, but to also build up wealth in heaven so that when we die, our heavenly wealth will be waiting for us... For it is in given that we recieve...
Good morning sweetheart.
God bless you real good for sharing.
A wonderful day to you as well
