Stallion group has launched the first Nigeria assembled Volkswagen (VW) passenger & commercial vehicles using one of the VoN assembly lines at its automobile plant located along the Lagos-Badagry expressway, Lagos. This development follows the historic return of the global brand 20 years after the previous plant was moribund. The conglomerate had entered into collaboration with the Volkswagen Group to assemble its vehicles in Nigeria, pursuant of the National Automotive ndustrial Plan (NAIDP) announced by the Federal Government in October 2013. Stallion group is commencing assembly of VW’s models including Passat, Jetta, CC and Amarok models. Stallion group is the preferred partner for an impressive portfolio of iconic global automobile brands and the Nigeria exclusive distributor for the VW brands including Volkswagen, Audi, Skoda and Porsche. The VW Group with its headquarters in Wolfsburg is one of the world’s leading automobile manufacturers and the largest carmaker in Europe. The Group operates 119 production plants in 20 European countries and a further eight countries in the Americas, Asia and Africa. The Volkswagen Group sells its vehicles in 153 countries. Commenting on the launch, Sunil Vaswani Stallion’s chairman said: “This is a great moment for Stallion in partnering with a world leading global brand like Volkswagen. We are immensely pleased to bring back the proud legacy of Nigeria automotive industry – the Volkswagen brand that once was indigenously produced at the same premises.” On plans for the automotive industry, Vaswani said: “Stallion in committed to investing and expanding its operations in the automotive value chain across multiple global brands and paving the way for Nigeria to establish itself as a regional leader in the automobile eco system.” Stallion is already assembling Nissan, Hyundai, Ashok-Leyland and IVECO vehicles in Nigeria and has developed a large team of highly skilled human resources following extensive training by specialists from the respective principals. Ratz Wolfgang, leader of the VW Group delegation from Germany said ’Today marks the revival of the assembly of VW vehicles in Nigeria has returned to Nigeria to continue a long history that began in the 1970s,” he recalled. Wolfgang who is excited and optimistic about the future of VW in Nigeria remarked that “We are certain that further growth is possible, which is why it is constantly searching for new opportunities to increase global market and sales potential and we appreciate the fact that we are able to strengthen our business relationship with our professional partner Stallion.” The Stallion Group, it would be recalled acquired the moribund Volkswagen of Nigeria plant and successfully resuscitated it and commenced assembly of buses, trucks, pick-ups and eventually passenger vehicles at the facility. The launch of the VW vehicles is another major catalyst for the revival of Nigeria’s automotive industry, which could lead to the development of multiple ancillary industries and component manufacturers, apart from fostering engineering skill base in the country and generating employment. A multinational conglomerate with a 45-year operating history in Nigeria and the sub Saharan markets, the Stallion Group is engaged in diversified industries including agriculture, commodities, automobile assembly, mining, steel manufacturing, packaging, technology and distribution. |

Amidst numerous problems con- fronting the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Nigeria, stake- holders at BusinessDay SME summit held in Abuja said creating the right market access for operators in this seg- ment is key to addressing the growth gap in the sector. Nigeria classifies businesses with an annual turnover of N500 million and less as MSMEs. The country has 37.67 million MSMEs, according to the 2013 National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) report. The sector impacts 95 per- cent of businesses in the coun- try and creates 75 percent of national employment. Challenges such as finance, skills, infrastructure and market access have dogged this segment of the economy over the years. Wale Fasanya, representa- tive of the director-general of the Small and Medium Enter- prise Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), said the agency has been engaging on match-making programmes to form links with various MSME operators in the country. “The agency has been work- ing with the United Nations International Development Organisation (UNIDO) in upgrading capacity to ensure proper business support for the operators in the country. We would also ensure, through UNIDO collaboration, that they have a global outlook through international exhibi- tions,” Fasanya said. Rabiu Tata, head of busi- ness desk at the Union Bank, in his submission, pointed out certain steps that could improve market access to the MSME sector, one of which was designing a technical platform on funding that matches businesses. “The second approach is on accessing intervention from dependable agencies like CBN, BoI and other nec- essary interventions. Where they don’t have collateral, we provide them with the needed guarantee,” Tata said. “The other collaboration is on networking to get international collaborations and the needed grants to support their businesses. We look at the way they structure their business plans in terms of best case scenario and worse case scenario, as well as com- petition analysis, to match the kind of business they are going into,” he added. Rabiu suggested to the Federal government that “all stakeholders operating in the MSME sector should interface more and evaluate efforts in order to boost market access. ” Dike Prince Humphery of the Nigerian Association of Small Scale Industrialists (NASSI), Federal Capital Ter- ritory (FCT) chapter, urged the Federal Government to educate real sector opera- tors accordingly to avoid poor standardisation of their products. Johannesburg - Cryptocurrency company BitX has launched its Bitcoin technology in Nigeria as it targets Africa’s biggest economy. BitX is headquartered in Singapore but it has a development team in Cape Town and also operates one of only two South African Bitcoin exchanges. Fin24 reported in November last year on how BitX launched a digital Bitcoin wallet app for Android and Apple iOS devices in the South African market. The technology makes it easier for people to buy and sell Bitcoins. Now BitX is targeting Nigeria - a country that has over 150 million people and an economy that ranks number one in Africa. “Nigeria is a fast-growing and highly entrepreneurial economy, and we’ve been inundated with requests for Bitcoin products and services from consumers, developers and Nigerian businesses,” BitX chief executive officer, Marcus Swanepoel, said in a statement. “The business aspect is particularly interesting and we’re currently working with a number of these businesses to bring some exciting new products to the market,” said Swanepoel. BitX further hopes that its technology will boost Bitcoin adoption in Nigeria. Furthermore, the company says it’s putting in place stringent security measures for its technology in Nigeria and other countries it operates in. “We spend a significant amount of internal resources on best-in-class compliance and security, and needless to say, the same will apply for the Nigerian market,” said Swanepoel. “We have very stringent KYC (know your customer), AML (anti money laundering) and fraud detection mechanisms in place and we’re using these proactive measures in all jurisdictions; those with or without clear guidance on the regulation of virtual currencies,” Swanepoel added. Apart from Nigeria, BitX also operates in Kenya and Southeast Asia. |

Any Gmail user, who regrets a message they just sent, has the option to undo the action, provided they are quick enough, a report said on Wednesday. It added that the new “Undo Send” option allowed a message to be retrieved, so long as it is clicked upon within 30 seconds of the “Send” command being hit. “The idea is to give users a second chance if they catch a mistake or realise they have sent a note to the wrong person. “The function has, so far, only been available as an experimental feature. “It is still not automatic, as availability has to be activated in the setting,” the report noted. However, it added that the users could opt for the “undo” function to work for between five and 30 seconds after the initial “send”. |

Our brain is a pretty mysterious thing. For productive work it needs our care and attention. Read in this article about 10 great things to help your brain always be in tonus and, of course, to make you more intelligent. Drink water just after awaking Drink two glasses of water 30 minutes after awaking daily. Your organism did not get water during the night time, so it is sufficiently important for people’s bodies to bring water in your organism after 6-9-hour sleep. Your organism, in general, and your brain, in particular, should not become dehydrated. By the way, you can easily count how much water do you need a day. Just multiply your weight by 3 and divide by 100. For example, I am 80 kilograms, so I need 2.4 liters of water daily. Read summaries of books during breakfast Book reading is a cool thing, and breakfast is the best time for reading some kind of short articles. You can read a Twitter newsline, but will it really bring any use? You can also read news, but do you really want them in the very beginning of your day? Try to organize a without-news month. Believe me, all important news will reach your ears in any case, and all that will not influence your life is rubbish. It is better to read book summaries during the breakfast time. What is a good book? Try to pay your attention on bestsellers. These are popular books, so, they cannot be bad. You (personally!) may dislike one of them. However, you need to learn its summary firstly in order not to spend much time on a dull book and get to know the main plot of the story, as well. Drink green tea during work I could write here long scientifically proved facts with researches and chemicals description, as well as their influence on different person’s organs, but I am not writing this article for this reason. Instead, I will advice you: drink green tea rather than coffee. It has a positive effect on our organism, your overall health condition and ability to work hard psychically. Day sleep is truly a good thing A short day slumbering helps refresh your brain. According to the recent researches, people who sleep during a day are able to learn quicker and more effectively. Stop consuming sugar Sugar is harmful for your body! If you can, exclude sugar from your nutrition. Or just bring its amount to the minimum level. If you do not have such an opportunity, try not to eat sugar when you need to concentrate. Sugar does not allow your brain to work quickly. Eggs and fish, instead, are very useful for a brain. Visit social networks a couple of times a week Your brain adapts quickly to the information which you feed it with. If you always relax while surfing Facebook or Twitter or websites with funny but often insipid images, your brain will always be relaxed and it will be hard for you to turn to work. Make your brain work at the breaking point, feed it with some useful information. If you still need to relax, turn on a clock register for 10-15 minutes and look for some useless photos and quotations from various publics. Read book instead of watching TV While reading you are to create images of heroes, imagine their voices and even live the whole situations form a book. All these things help keep your brain in tonus. Add physical activities to your life Our brain is closely connected with our body. Physical exercises not only help us keep fit, but also make our brain work hard. You do not need to visit a gym, though, spending there all your free time. Go upstairs on foot instead of using a lift, walk from a subway to your home. Leave some free time for light exercises. Spend your time with people smarter than you If you want to win chess game, choose a weak rival. If you want to learn to play better, choose a stronger one. The same is with our brain. If we communicate with people who are more intelligent than we are, we soon will be reaching for their high mental level. And you will certainly reach it! Unfortunately, this rule works the wrong way, as well. Walk in fresh air There exist many articles about positive effect of fresh air on your organism. It is also useful for our brain functioning. It works due to oxygen comsumption. Feed your brain! |

Entrepreneurs who are into the manufacturing of food or drugs would readily agree that a major hurdle they had to cross was getting their product registered by the regulatory authority which, in this case, is the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration [NAFDAC]. For these entrepreneurs and those who want to venture into manufacturing freshly, the NAFDAC challenge is something better prepared for than wished away. This is because they cannot legitimately carry on such trade without the appropriate registration of the product(s) by NAFDAC which must continue to safeguard public health by ensuring that only safe and right quality foods, medicines, cosmetics, medical device, chemicals, detergents and packaged water are manufactured, imported, exported, advertised, distributed, sold and used in Nigeria. Stringent Process Mrs. Christiana Obiazikwor is the Chief Public Relations Officer, NAFDAC. She says because the product registration process of NAFDAC is stringent, persons who require to go through it often view the process as very tasking and may complain of frustration. She says the major reason is lack of working information on what is required. “This could lead to wasted time and energy, as the unprepared applicant goes back and forth,”she says. This SuccessDigest's special report takes you into the world of NADAC and shows you what you can do to easily obtain the agency’s registration for your product and do your business with peace of mind instead of falling short of the law and risking severe consequences.
