Breaking: DSS arrests Senator Marafa over Zamfara APC crisis

- DSS has reportedly arrested Senator Kabir Marafa of Zamfara state


- Marafa was said to have engaged in fight with a former minister of communication, Alhaji Aliyu Bilbis, at APC stakeholders' meeting

- The fight was reported to have generated tension as the supporters of the two factions were ready for acrimony

Pandemonium erupted at the city King Hotel, Gusau, Zamfara state capital venue of the All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders' meeting as Senator Kabir Marafa and the former minister of state communication, Alhaji Aliyu Bilbis engaged in a free for all fight.

Leadership reports that the two arch rivals engaged in exchange of blows.

NAIJ.com gathered that the fight generated tension as the supporters of the two factions were ready for acrimony.

It was reported that the state director of Department of State Security (DSS) ordered his men to whisk Senator Marafa as his details attempted to resist but Marafa was said to have asked his aides to calm and followed the DSS official to their office.

According to the newspaper, the two factions were set for show down as none of the faction was ready for compromise over the conduct of the primaries.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had previously reported that the first lady, Aisha Buhari, expressed disappointment over some of the conducts that occurred during the primary election in some states by the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a statement on Sunday, October 7, the first lady noted that some aspirants who had purchased forms on the platform of the party found out that their names were omitted on the day of election.

Aisha said it was more saddening that is happening under the watch of Adams Oshiomhole. She said: "It is disheartening to note that some aspirants used their hard earned money to purchase nomination forms, got screened, cleared and campaigned vigorously yet found their names omitted on election day, these forms were bought at exorbitant prices. Many others contested and yet had their result delayed.

"Fully knowing that automatic tickets have been given to other people. All Progressives Congress being a party whose cardinal principle is change and headed by a comrade/ activist whose main concern is for the common man, yet, such impunity could take place under its watch.

Speaker of the House of Representatives , Mr Yakubu Dogara, may have finally defected from the All Progressives Congress to the Peoples Democratic Party.
Our correspondent gathered on Wednesday night that the embattled speaker had picked the PDP nomination and expression of interest forms to return to the House in 2019.

A member of the National Working Committee of the party , who spoke with our correspondent on condition of anonymity , said that the speaker had picked the forms .
“Yes , he had picked our forms , but don ’ t quote me , he has joined us , ” the source said last night .
Dogara had two days ago expressed his desire to return to the National Assembly in 2019 when members of his constituents visited him in Abuja .
However , he refused to state the political party that he would use to facilitate his ambition .
The Speaker had been having running battles with the leadership of the APC in both his state, Bauchi and at the national level .
Just like the President of the Senate , Senator Bukola Saraki , who had defected to the PDP from the APC , Dogara had also absent from the activities of the ruling party .
Our correspondent gathered that the decision by Dogara was necessitated by the fear that his party no longer had faith in him .

With this decision , it is expected that he would announce his defection to his colleagues in the House when the National Assembly resumes after the political parties’ primaries .
